Groupe Renault, established in 1899, is a prominent French multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris. As the ninth largest automaker globally by production volume in 2016, Renault has a rich history of producing cars, vans, trucks, tractors, tanks, buses, aircraft, and autorail vehicles. The Renault group consists of the Renault marque, along with subsidiaries such as Alpine, Renault Sport (Gordini), Automobile Dacia from Romania, and Renault Korea Motors from South Korea. Noteworthy subsidiaries include RCI Banque for automotive financing, Renault Retail Group for automotive distribution, and Motrio for automotive parts. Renault has also established joint ventures like Oyak-Renault in Turkey and Renault Pars in Iran. The French state and Nissan each hold a 15% share in the company. Renault Trucks, formerly Renault Véhicules Industriels, has been a part of Volvo since 2001, while Renault Agriculture became fully owned by German agricultural equipment manufacturer CLAAS in 2008. Renault is renowned for its involvement in motorsports, particularly in rallying, Formula 1, and Formula E.
