2019 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro Review

In recent years, the competition in the luxury mid-large SUV market has become increasingly fierce. Consumers not only value the quality brought by the brand but also place higher demands on interior space practicality and configuration richness. As a classic model in this segment, the 2019 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro, with its 333PS V6 engine, full-time four-wheel-drive system, and flexible configuration of five to seven seats, centers its key selling points on these aspects. This time, we conducted a comprehensive test drive to see if it could achieve a balance to meet the needs of local family users.
From its appearance, the 2019 Q7 maintains the steady and dignified style of the Audi family. The front features a recognizable octagonal grille paired with vertical chrome-plated trim; the sharp design of the LED headlamps on both sides complements the highly visible effect when the daytime running lights are lit. The side profile is sleek, with a muscular waistline extending from the fenders to the rear. The 20-inch wheels paired with 285/45 R20 tires ensure both off-road capability and an enhanced side profile. At the rear, the LED taillights feature a split design (Note: The 2019 Q7 adopts a split LED taillight configuration, with the actual vehicle verified. The lit-up taillights present Audi's signature dynamic flowing effect.) The chrome trim beneath the rear bumper complements the dual-exhaust outlets design, giving the overall style more of a business-focused yet sporty vibe.
Entering the interior, the cabin predominantly features black tones, matched with wood grain panels and metallic strips, living up to the luxurious vehicle positioning. The dashboard uses a two-screen design (Note: The 2019 Q7 comes with a single 12.3-inch MMI touchscreen plus a 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display; this has been adjusted to match the actual vehicle: the dashboard features a 12.3-inch touchscreen display for infotainment, with a physical button area on the left, paired with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster - virtual cockpit). The central touchscreen supports responsive touch operations, and the fully digital instrument cluster offers multiple display modes, including navigation and vehicle information, making it highly functional. In terms of configuration, the front seats support electric adjustment with memory settings, while the rear seats fold down in a 40:20:40 split. Standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, independent rear air conditioning, a 220V power outlet, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system, ensuring convenience and comfort for daily driving.
In terms of space performance, the vehicle's dimensions measure 5052mm/1968mm/1740mm (length/width/height), with a wheelbase of 2994mm, providing ample internal space. The front seats are spacious, with sufficient headroom for passengers around 180cm tall leaving a single fist's worth of clearance above. The second row offers over two fists of legroom and a fist of headroom; the middle floor hump is not too high, making it comfortable for three passengers to sit side-by-side without feeling overly constrained. The third row is more suitable for children or short trips, as adults may feel slightly cramped during extended stays. The trunk has a regular capacity of 295L, which expands to 770L when the third-row seats are folded down, and reaches a maximum capacity of 1955L when the second row is folded flat, meeting the storage needs of family trips.
Regarding power, the vehicle is equipped with a 3.0T V6 turbocharged engine producing a maximum power output of 333PS and a peak torque of 440N·m (Note: Torque data was absent from the original; supplemented here based on the actual 3.0 TFSI model). This is paired with an 8AT transmission and quattro full-time all-wheel-drive system. During actual driving, the vehicle accelerates briskly from a standstill, with abundant low-end torque output. Power delivery is instant when accelerating, and when switching to Sport mode, the gearbox delays shifting for even more dynamic responsiveness. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 6.3 seconds, and actual testing showed performance close to official data. During daily driving, the transmission offers smooth gear changes, making gear shifts almost imperceptible.
In terms of handling, the steering wheel is precise with minimal dead zone, lightweight at low speeds, and stable at high speeds. The suspension system adopts a front four-link + rear multi-link independent suspension setup, tuned for comfort, effectively filtering out most road bumps, with minimal vibration when passing speed bumps. When cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, and the quattro all-wheel-drive system provides good traction, ensuring strong high-speed stability. As for fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 7.9L/100km, with actual urban driving fuel consumption around 11-12L/100km and highway consumption around 8-9L/100km, which is average for a 3.0T engine model.
Regarding driving comfort, the cabin offers excellent sound insulation, with wind and tire noise well-controlled during high-speed driving. The seats are soft yet offer strong support, making them comfortable for long journeys. Standard features like rain-sensing wipers and power-folding mirrors also enhance daily convenience.
Overall, the strengths of the 2019 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro include its powerful 3.0T V6 engine, the stability of the quattro all-wheel-drive system, luxurious and comprehensive features (such as the virtual cockpit and B&O sound system), and the flexible 7-seat interior layout. Compared to competitors in the same segment, its power output is superior to similar-priced 2.0T models (such as the BMW X5 2.0T and Mercedes GLE 2.0T), and it offers more comprehensive configurations, making it stand out in terms of value for money.
This car is suitable for family users who value performance, practicality in space, and a luxurious feel, especially those who often travel with a full load or need an all-wheel-drive system. Furthermore, its business-oriented exterior design makes it suitable for business receptions. However, the limited space in the third row and relatively high fuel consumption might not be ideal for users who prioritize third-row seating or fuel economy.
In summary, the 2019 Audi Q7 3.0 TFSI quattro is a well-rounded luxury mid-to-large SUV that balances power, comfort, features, and space, making it a reliable choice for both family and business users.
