Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (ダイハツ工業株式会社, Daihatsu Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha), commonly known as Daihatsu, is a Japanese automobile manufacturer and one of the oldest surviving Japanese internal combustion engine manufacturers. Its headquarters are located in Ikeda, Osaka Prefecture. Daihatsu is well known for producing three-wheeled and off-road vehicles in its history, but now focuses on kei car models, kei trucks, kei vans, and other small cars in Japan. It also manufactures entry-level compact cars in Japan and Southeast Asia, some of which are marketed globally under the Toyota brand. Since August 2016, Daihatsu has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation. As of 2021, Daihatsu's sales contribute 4% to the total vehicle sales of the Toyota Group.

The Perodua D55L is based on the twin models of Daihatsu Rocky/Toyota Raize, sharing the DNGA platform.

Power System

Equipped with a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder turbocharged engine, the power parameter is 98 PS/140 N·m, its weight is less than 1 ton, the torque makes the acceleration relatively brisk, D-CVT makes the driving experience responsive and smooth. But the steering is not precise enough, lacking accuracy on winding roads and highways.

Space Performance

Although the model is not large in external size, it boasts a spacious interior, the legroom is similar to Mazda CX-30, the trunk capacity is 369 liters, and there is another 80 liters under the trunk floor.

Ride Quality

Feels harder at low speeds, and the high tire pressure recommended for improving fuel efficiency is also unhelpful.
