Maxus
SAIC Maxus Automotive Co., Ltd., commonly known as Maxus, is a Chinese automotive brand specializing in both commercial and passenger vehicles. As a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC Motor, a major automotive conglomerate that also owns MG and Roewe, Maxus has established itself as a significant player in the automotive industry. The brand name "Maxus" has its roots in the LDV Maxus model, originally from the British commercial vehicle manufacturer LDV Group. SAIC acquired LDV's intellectual property in 2010, leading to the adoption of the Maxus brand. Maxus made its debut with the unveiling of the V80 van at the Auto Shanghai motor show in April 2011. Shortly after, an agreement was signed appointing the Malaysia-based WestStar group as the official distributor of the V80 for the Asia Pacific region. The inauguration ceremony took place in Shanghai on June 29, 2011. Expanding its global presence, Maxus entered the Australasian market in 2012, with distribution managed by the Australia-based WMC Group. In 2014, Maxus vehicles became available in Thailand through a strategic deal between SAIC and SAIC Motor-CP Co. With a history rooted in international partnerships and a diverse range of vehicles, Maxus continues to be a key player in the automotive market under the umbrella of SAIC Motor.
