Specs

In Malaysia's D-segment sedan market, German brands have always held a significant position with their solid mechanical quality. The 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro, as a core player in this segment, has been a focus for consumers who prioritize driving quality and practicality thanks to its quattro all-wheel-drive system, 249PS power output, and extensive luxury features. In this test drive, we will focus on its static details, dynamic performance, and adaptability to daily usage scenarios to see if this German sedan can still meet the needs of today's users.

In terms of appearance, the 2019 A4 sport retains Audi's family-oriented minimalist design, with smooth and muscular lines. At the front, the iconic hexagonal grille, paired with horizontal chrome accents, enhances the visual width. The sharp-shaped LED headlamp units on both sides feature Audi's classic "arrow" design for the daytime running lights, which offers high recognizability when illuminated. The side profile showcases a waistline running from the front fender to the taillights, complemented by 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and 245/40 R18 tires, creating a low-slung sporty stance. At the rear, the distinct layers highlight the LED taillamp units that echo the design of the headlights, while the dual-outlet exhaust layout hints at its sporty attributes. Detailed elements such as the chrome trims around the body and the "quattro" badges further enhance the vehicle's sense of sophistication and identity recognition.

Opening the door, the interior exudes a strong sense of luxury and technology. The dashboard is designed to focus slightly on the driver, with a clear layout that is easy to operate. In terms of materials, large areas of soft-touch materials cover the dashboard and door panels, matched with metal trims and piano black panels for a tactile experience. The instrument cluster features a 12.3-inch full LCD screen with multiple display modes such as classic and sport, capable of showing real-time navigation, vehicle status, and more. The 8.3-inch central touchscreen, which supports touch operations, incorporates the MMI system that is responsive and includes navigation, Bluetooth, and other functionalities. As for features, the front seats support electric adjustment with memory functions, while the rear seats are 40:20:40 split-folding. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning, independent rear air conditioning, and the Bang & Olufsen sound system (10 speakers) are standard configurations, effectively meeting the comfort needs of passengers. In terms of storage space, the front central armrest box and door storage compartments offer generous capacity, while the trunk provides a regular capacity of 460 liters, which can be further expanded by folding down the rear seats, showing excellent practicality.

For space performance, the dimensions of the car are 4762×1847×1428mm, with a wheelbase of 2820mm, placing it at the mainstream level among D-segment sedans. The front seats offer ample room, allowing a 175cm tall person to have a one-fist headroom after adjusting the seating position. In the rear, there is more than two fists of legroom and about four fingers of headroom, ensuring a comfortable experience even with full seating. For details, the rear is equipped with air conditioning vents, power outlets, and sunshades to enhance the comfort of long-distance travel.

Dynamic driving aspect: The 2.0T turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power of 249PS and a peak torque of 370N·m (1600-4500rpm). It is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and a quattro all-wheel-drive system. The official 0-100km/h acceleration takes only 5.8 seconds, and the power parameters stand out among competitors in the same segment. During actual driving, the vehicle's start response is quick, the turbocharger kicks in early with virtually no lag, and mid-to-high-speed acceleration remains strong, providing a noticeable push-back feeling when pressing the accelerator for overtaking. The gearbox shifting logic is clear, with smooth and proactive upshifts, and switching to sport mode significantly increases shift speed, offering a more direct power feedback experience for the driver.

Handling and chassis performance are equally impressive. The steering wheel offers precise control with minimal play, linear speed-sensitive resistance, and a clear feedback of the road conditions. The chassis features multi-link independent suspension at both the front and rear, tuned towards sportiness without compromising comfort. When dealing with bumpy roads, the suspension effectively absorbs vibrations, keeping the body stable. When cornering, the quattro all-wheel-drive system distributes power reasonably, reducing understeer, maintaining good body roll control, and instilling enough confidence in the driver. During everyday drives, the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) performance of the vehicle is excellent, with road and wind noise well-contained, ensuring a quiet cabin even at high speeds. As for fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.1L/100km. During the actual test drive, fuel consumption in urban traffic was about 8.5L/100km, while it was around 6.5L/100km under highway conditions, performing as expected.

Overall, the 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro offers a balanced product strength: robust power output, stable handling performance, a wealth of luxurious features, and practical space. Compared to competitors in the same segment, its quattro all-wheel-drive system is a clear differentiator, providing better traction on slippery roads or curves. As for features, standard equipment such as the fully digital instrument cluster and Bang & Olufsen sound system also make it more competitive in terms of value for money.

This car is suitable for consumers who value driving quality and comfort, particularly for family users or professionals aged between 30-40. It meets the needs of daily commuting, long trips, and occasional spirited driving. If you're looking for a German mid-size sedan that balances sportiness and practicality, the 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro is worth considering.

In conclusion, the 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro is an excellently balanced German mid-size sedan. It not only continues the luxury quality and driving pleasure that the Audi brand is known for but also fulfills the needs of family users with its rich features and practical space. In the current D-segment sedan market, it remains a highly competitive choice.

This appearance is so stunning on the street! Every time I lock the car, I can't help but look back at it twice – it's so cool, it has no rivals.

Previously drove a Japanese family car, but switched to the A4 Sport completely because of being captivated by the quattro and the explosive 249 horsepower! During the morning rush around KLCC, the DCT shifts as smoothly as driving an electric car, the 2.0T low-end torque is sufficient, and following traffic is effortless; on weekends, driving to Genting Highlands, the quattro grips the corners tightly when going uphill, giving me more confidence in corners compared to my friend's rear-wheel-drive 3 Series. Full marks for safety – during an emergency brake on the highway in rainy weather, the car remained astonishingly stable, and the 6 airbags + 360-degree imaging also put my wife at ease. A small drawback is using Malaysia's RON95 fuel for it, with the fuel consumption occasionally reaching 9L, but the 5-year unlimited mileage warranty is truly appealing! The only pity is the high center hump in the rear row, making it a bit cramped for 3 passengers, but it's sufficient for daily family use – after all, in Malaysia, when it comes to D-segment cars that balance performance and safety, it's one of the top choices.

Every morning during rush hours on the highway, darting through traffic and overtaking with confidence thanks to the 2.0T+quattro system. A 5.8-second 0-100 km/h acceleration is not an exaggeration. Three buddies in the back don't feel cramped, and the B&O sound system is incredibly comforting during traffic jams. Just need to be careful when parking, as the car is nearly 4.8 meters long, but the 360-degree camera system is a big help.
