2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T Review

In 2019, the competition in the compact SUV market became increasingly intense. Consumers not only wanted spacious interiors suitable for family use but also expected good fuel efficiency and intelligent features. The Geely Xing Yue 300T was introduced to meet such demands. It features a 1.5L hybrid system, a long wheelbase, and standard intelligent driving assistance, making many curious whether this car can truly fulfill all daily needs. In this test drive, we focus on three core aspects: the actual fuel consumption of the hybrid system, the practicality of the interior space, and the user-friendliness of the driving assistance features, to see how it performs.
From the appearance, the overall style of the Xing Yue 300T leans towards youthful and sporty. The front features a large blacked-out grille, complemented by sharp LED headlights with high recognizability. The body side has smooth lines, with a waistline running from the front to the rear, adding more depth to the side profile. The 18-inch multi-spoke wheels enhance the sporty feel. At the rear, the standout design feature is the through-type LED tail lights, which are striking when illuminated. The dual exhaust setup further emphasizes its sporty attributes. The lighting system includes full LED lights across all models, including daytime running lights and tail lights, which provide good brightness and uniformity at night.
Stepping inside, the interior layout is simple and tidy, with the center console wrapped in soft materials and accented with silver trims, making it above average in its segment in terms of texture. The central screen is a 10.25-inch touchscreen with good interface responsiveness and supports CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, making it convenient for daily use. In terms of features, all models come equipped with a panoramic sunroof, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, and engine start. The higher trims also include seat heating and a 360-degree panoramic camera. It’s worth mentioning the intelligent driving assistance configurations, such as lane change assist, lane departure warning, and automated parking, which are standard. These features are especially beginner-friendly.
The spacious interior is one of the key advantages of the Xing Yue 300T. Its wheelbase reaches 2770mm, which is relatively long for a compact SUV. The front seats offer good wrapping and support. Passengers with a height of 175cm will still have a headroom of one fist and two fingers after adjusting their seating position. The rear row is even more spacious; passengers of the same height will find two fists of legroom and one fist of headroom, ensuring that even three passengers will not feel cramped. For storage space, the front row includes two cup holders, a central armrest box, and door panel storage. The trunk has a regular capacity of 326L, which can be expanded by folding down the rear seats, comfortably meeting the needs of daily use or short trips. Additionally, the back row is equipped with air conditioning vents and USB charging ports, showcasing attention to detail.
In terms of power, the Xing Yue 300T is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine combined with an electric motor, forming a hybrid power system. The engine delivers a maximum horsepower of 191PS, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. During daily driving, the power response is brisk. The involvement of the electric motor during the starting phase ensures smooth acceleration with no noticeable jerks. When switched to sport mode, the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal increases, providing more robust acceleration and greater confidence during overtaking. While driving on urban roads, the hybrid system performs quietly, with the engine engaging seamlessly and without noticeable vibrations.
The control and chassis feature a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned for comfort. When driving over bumpy roads, the suspension effectively filters out minor vibrations, so passengers won’t feel noticeable jolts. While cornering, the body roll is well controlled, and the steering wheel delivers decent precision. Although it’s not as aggressive as sports models, it fully meets the needs of daily driving. In terms of braking, the configuration of front and rear ventilated discs provides linear brake response, and the braking distance is within a reasonable range.
Fuel efficiency is one of the key focuses of this test drive, with the official combined fuel consumption listed at 5.6L/100km. We drove an equal distance on urban roads and highways with the air conditioning on throughout. The actual measured fuel consumption was 6.2L/100km. This achievement ranks above average among hybrids in the same class, making it quite economical for family use. As for noise control, at high speeds, some wind and tire noise are noticeable but do not hinder normal conversations among passengers, making the overall performance quite acceptable.
In summary, the core advantages of the Xing Yue 300T lie in the spacious interior provided by its long wheelbase, the standard intelligent driving assistance features across all models, and its economical fuel efficiency. Compared to other vehicles in the same class, its main selling points are space and features, and its price is also relatively affordable, offering high value for money. This car is suitable for consumers who prioritize practicality for family use, care about fuel efficiency, and want some smart features—such as a family of three or newlyweds. It can meet daily commuting needs as well as short weekend trips. If you are looking for a well-rounded compact SUV, the Xing Yue 300T is worth considering.
