2024 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo Review

As the luxury electric vehicle market gradually shifts towards "practicality," models that can meet daily commuting needs without compromising performance genes have begun to become the new choice for high-end consumers—the 2024 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is a representative in this niche. It is based on the practicality of a station wagon, retains Porsche's iconic driving quality, and addresses the range anxiety of pure electric travel with an official range of 613 km. In this test drive, we focused on verifying whether it can achieve a perfect balance between "performance," "comfort," and "practicality," providing the most direct reference for potential buyers.
In terms of appearance, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo continues the family design language, but the station wagon silhouette makes it more approachable than the standard Taycan. The front face features matrix LED headlights paired with the iconic four-point daytime running lights, which have high recognition; the honeycomb-style air grille below the front bumper optimizes aerodynamics for the electric vehicle while retaining Porsche's sporty genes. The side profile is sleek, with a sloping design that extends from the A-pillar to the rear, making it less rigid than traditional station wagons. The 19-inch alloy wheels, paired with 225/55 R19 front tires and 245/45 R19 rear tires, ensure grip without being overly exaggerated. The LED full-width taillights at the rear complement the front design, and the small spoiler above the trunk hints at its performance potential. The minimum ground clearance of 146 mm is significantly higher than the standard Taycan, making it more capable of handling light off-road surfaces.
Sitting inside, the interior style of the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is simple yet remains luxurious. The center console is wrapped with a large area of soft materials, combined with metal trims and piano lacquer panels, offering a delicate texture everywhere you touch. The 10.9-inch center touchscreen is the core of the interior, with a clear interface logic, fast response, and support for CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The fully digital instrument cluster displays information such as range, speed, and navigation, allowing drivers to glance at critical data easily while driving. The front seats support electric adjustment, offering excellent contouring and support for long drives without fatigue. Although the rear seats are configured in a 4-seater layout, the legroom is not cramped—the 2904 mm wheelbase showcases its advantage here. A passenger with a height of 175 cm sitting in the rear row will find two fist-widths of space between their knees and the front seat. The trunk has a capacity of 446 liters, and when the rear seats are folded down, the space can be expanded, easily accommodating two large suitcases or a stroller. Practical design details such as the front central storage box and door storage compartments make it easy to store everyday items.
In terms of dynamic performance, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo's power output fully aligns with its "supercar" designation. Its front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors deliver a total power output of 320 kW (435 PS) and a total torque of 610 N·m, achieving an official 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.7 seconds. During actual driving, the power response at the start is very immediate; a light press on the accelerator generates a strong sense of acceleration. When switched to sport mode, the power output becomes more aggressive; pressing hard on the accelerator during overtaking results in a rapid increase in speed without any lag. The steering wheel is precise, with minimal play, and provides clear feedback on road conditions when cornering. The front and rear suspensions use double-wishbone and multi-link independent structures, respectively, which are tuned for sportiness without sacrificing comfort—when crossing speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension effectively filters out vibrations, and passengers inside the car won’t feel significant jolts. When taking high-speed corners, the body roll is well-controlled, maintaining excellent stability. Regarding range, we tested 100 km under mixed conditions, with 60% on city roads and 40% on highways, and achieved approximately 85% of the official range. The energy consumption was 19.2 kWh per 100 km, which is close to the official claim of 18.5 kWh. Fast charging allows the battery to go from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes, making daily recharging very convenient.
The comfort details are also well-executed. The noise control inside the cabin is excellent, with wind and tire noise barely noticeable even when driving at high speeds. The BOSE 14-speaker sound system delivers clear audio quality, further masking external noise. The energy recovery system offers three adjustable levels; when set to the lowest level, the coasting feel is almost similar to that of a fuel-powered car, with no noticeable drag. Although the optional HUD head-up display was not equipped during this test drive, the configuration sheet suggests that it enhances driving focus. The automatic air conditioning system cools quickly, and the rear independent air conditioner caters to the needs of family members. Features like rain-sensing wipers and electrically folding mirrors also improve the convenience of daily use.
Overall, the core strengths of the 2024 Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo are evident: it combines Porsche's performance DNA with the practical space of a station wagon, while its range and energy replenishment performance can meet daily needs. Compared to the Tesla Model S station wagon of the same class, it boasts a superior sense of luxury in its interior and driving quality; compared to traditional fuel-powered luxury station wagons, it has advantages in acceleration performance and usage cost. This vehicle is suitable for two groups of people: one is families who emphasize quality of life and need ample space and comfortable configurations while occasionally wanting to enjoy the fun of driving; the second is young individuals who seek distinctiveness—desiring the technological appeal of an electric car without compromising on Porsche’s brand prestige. If you are looking for a "jack-of-all-trades" luxury electric vehicle, the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo is worth considering—it is neither an extreme performance car nor the most practical family car, but it strikes the perfect balance between the two.
