2025 Lotus Emeya 600 GT SE Review

In recent years, competition in Malaysia's luxury electric sedan market has intensified, and E-class pure electric models focusing on design, performance, and practicality have gradually become a new choice for mid-to-high-end consumers. The 2025 Lotus Emeya 600 GT SE, as the brand's first pure electric four-door coupe, features a combined output of 612PS, an official range of 485km, and a fully equipped safety system as its core selling points, attracting attention from users seeking both performance and luxury. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the vehicle, from static design to dynamic performance, to determine whether it successfully balances Lotus's racing heritage with everyday usability.
In terms of appearance, the Emeya 600 GT SE continues the brand's sporty genes with smooth and low-profile lines. The body width of 2241mm and height of 1459mm create a distinct coupe stance. The front adopts a closed design, paired with sharp LED daytime running lights for high recognition; the waistline running from the front to the rear of the car enhances the sense of sportiness when combined with the 21-inch wheels. The rear's through-type LED tail light echoes the design of the diffuser, retaining the elements of a performance car while aligning with the minimalist style of an electric vehicle. The lighting system fully adopts LED technology across the range, with automatic headlights and rear fog lights enhancing everyday usability.
Inside the vehicle, the interior is mainly functional and minimalist, with soft materials used throughout, accented by metal trims for moderate luxury. The center console is equipped with a 15.1-inch touchscreen, which is smooth to operate and supports commonly used functions; the combination of a fully digital instrument panel and HUD head-up display allows the driver to access vehicle information clearly. In terms of configuration, the front seats support electric adjustment, while the rear features independent air conditioning vents, meeting basic comfort needs. The KEF-branded 15-speaker audio system offers a pleasant sound experience. As for space, the vehicle has a wheelbase of 3069mm, providing ample front-seat space—passengers with a height of 180cm will find sufficient headroom and legroom. The rear seats are fixed, offering about two fists of legroom and one fist of headroom, adequate for daily family use. For storage, the front center armrest box and door panel storage compartments are reasonably sized, and the trunk can hold three 20-inch suitcases, meeting practicality standards.
In terms of performance, the Emeya 600 GT SE is equipped with dual permanent magnet synchronous motors on both the front and rear, with a combined power output of 450kW (612PS) and peak torque of 710N·m. The official data stands out. During actual driving, acceleration response is quick, and even a light press on the accelerator gives a noticeable pushback effect. Switching to Sport Mode provides more direct power output, making overtaking easy. When stepping on the accelerator deeply, the car quickly accelerates, and even at high speeds, its ability to accelerate further is impressive. Daily driving in Comfort Mode offers smoother power delivery, making it suitable for urban commutes.
Regarding handling and chassis performance, the independent multi-link suspension system is tuned for sportiness. The steering wheel is precise with minimal dead zones, and the body remains well-controlled during cornering, providing the driver with sufficient confidence. When dealing with urban bumpy roads, the suspension absorbs most small vibrations; however, when encountering speed bumps or larger potholes, rear passengers may feel slight jolts. Overall, it strikes a balance between handling and basic comfort. The drive system is all-wheel-drive, and the vehicle demonstrates good stability when driving on wet or slippery roads.
In the specialized test, we focused on the range and charging performance. Under a driving scenario where urban and highway conditions each account for 50%, with the air conditioning set in 24°C auto mode, the actual range of the vehicle was approximately 420 km, achieving about 86% of the rated range, which is a fairly average performance. As for energy consumption, it recorded about 21 kWh per 100 km, which aligns with the standard level of vehicles in this class. The official fast charging time is stated as 0.25 hours (15 minutes), while our actual test showed that charging from 30% to 80% took about 20 minutes, adequately meeting the need for rapid energy replenishment. Brake performance remained stable, with no significant thermal degradation observed after multiple braking events.
Regarding ride comfort details, the vehicle achieves good control over wind noise and road noise. While driving at 120 km/h on the highway, the cabin remains relatively quiet. The energy recovery system is adjustable in three levels; in the lowest setting, the coasting feel is close to that of a fuel vehicle, ensuring that the passenger experience is unaffected. The front seats offer moderate cushioning, making long drives comfortable, while the rear seats are relatively firm but provide good support.
In terms of safety features, the Emeya 600 GT SE comes standard with 8 airbags, lane change assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and other functions. The inclusion of a 360-degree surround view camera system and front/rear radar enhances convenience when parking. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) system reduces the driver's workload during highway travel, reflecting comprehensive safety performance.
Overall, the 2025 Lotus Emeya 600 GT SE stands out with its powerful performance, precise handling, and comprehensive safety features. Compared to competitors in the same class, such as the Tesla Model S and BMW i5, it offers a unique appeal in its continuation of track-inspired characteristics and comes at a relatively affordable price. However, the firm rear seats and suspension tuning, which leans towards sportiness, may not suit users prioritizing ultimate comfort.
This car is better suited for mid-to-high-end consumers who value both practicality in daily commutes and a certain level of driving enjoyment. These may include family users or young business professionals aged 30–45 who need a luxury electric sedan that balances family travel and personal driving experiences. If you are looking for a high-performance, well-equipped electric car with strong brand recognition, the Emeya 600 GT SE is worth considering.
