Specs

As the competition in Malaysia's luxury electric vehicle market intensifies, the E-segment pure electric sedan market is becoming the focus for major brands to position themselves. The 2025 Lotus Emeya 600 Sport SE, as Lotus's first four-door sedan after transitioning to electrification, enters the market with a combined power of 612 PS, an official range of 485 kilometers, and a price of RM 599,000. It not only continues the brand's performance DNA but also attempts to find a balance between luxury and practicality. The primary objective of this test drive is to verify whether this "electric GT" can simultaneously meet the handling demands of performance enthusiasts and the expectations of family users for space and comfort.

From the exterior design, the Emeya 600 Sport SE retains Lotus's consistent sporty design language. The front features a closed grille paired with sharp LED headlamps, with daytime running lights inside the lighting cluster forming a folded line, making it highly recognizable. The side profile of the car features smooth lines, with a waistline extending from the front fender to the rear, enhancing the muscular look. The 21-inch wheels paired with 265/40 R21 tires further reinforce the sporty stance. The rear design is relatively simple, with a striking light effect from the full-width LED taillights, and the diffuser design below hints at its performance orientation. Overall, the design of the new car not only aligns with the minimalist style of electric vehicles but also retains Lotus's sporty DNA, offering high recognizability among models in the same class.

Inside, the cabin emphasizes luxury and technology. The center console features a symmetrical layout, with a 15.1-inch touchscreen at the center of focus. The screen has high resolution and operates smoothly. The multifunction steering wheel is equipped with paddles (used to adjust regenerative braking intensity), while the HUD head-up digital display and fully digital instrument panel enhance the tech-driven ambiance. In terms of seating, the front seats support electric adjustments and offer good wrapping and support. The rear seats are fixed design but provide adequate passenger space. In terms of materials, the interior is largely covered in soft-touch materials, paired with metallic trims, providing a luxurious feel in line with its premium positioning. As for features, it comes equipped with a KEF 15-speaker premium audio system, automatic climate control for both front and rear, a 360-degree parking camera, and more, satisfying daily convenience needs.

Regarding space performance, the dimensions of the Emeya 600 Sport SE are 5139mm×2241mm×1459mm, with a wheelbase of 3069mm, which corresponds to the typical level of E-segment vehicles. The front row offers ample space, with a 180cm tall occupant in the driver’s seat having more than a fist's worth of both headroom and legroom. The rear seating area is moderately spacious, with a passenger of the same height having about two fists of legroom and about four fingers of headroom, which is slightly tight but generally sufficient for daily family use. In terms of storage capacity, the center console and door storage compartments in the front row provide ample space for personal items. Though the exact trunk volume has not been announced, practical experience suggests it can accommodate two 28-inch suitcases without issue. However, owing to the battery layout, the trunk floor is slightly raised.

The core highlights of the Emeya 600 Sport SE are its power and driving experience. The new car is equipped with front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors, with a combined power of 450kW (612PS) and a combined torque of 710N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time has not been explicitly stated, but in actual driving, the power response at the initial acceleration stage is very quick. When the accelerator pedal is pressed deeply, a strong push-back sensation can be felt. There are three driving modes: Comfort, Sport, and Track. In Comfort mode, the power output is relatively smooth, suitable for daily commuting; in Sport mode, the power response is more sensitive, and the feedback on the accelerator pedal is more direct; in Track mode, the aggressiveness of the power output is further enhanced, and the suspension becomes stiffer, which is suitable for users seeking better handling performance.

In terms of handling, the new car adopts independent multi-link suspension for both the front and rear. The chassis tuning leans towards sportiness; however, in Comfort mode, it effectively filters out small bumps on the road, providing a rather premium driving feel. When entering a curve, the steering is precise with minimal play, and the body roll is well-controlled, giving sufficient confidence. At high speeds, the stability of the car body is excellent, and even at speeds exceeding 120km/h, there is no feeling of instability. However, with a width of 2241mm, extra attention is required to manage vehicle spacing when driving on narrow roads.

Regarding range and charging, the car is equipped with a 102kWh lithium battery pack and has an official pure electric range of 485 kilometers. We conducted a test with 50% urban roads and 50% highways, with the air conditioning set to 24°C and the energy recovery at medium level. The actual range achieved was about 420 kilometers, with a completion rate of approximately 86%, which is decent. In terms of charging speed, it supports fast charging, and the official data states that it can replenish a certain driving range in 0.25 hours (15 minutes, specific value not provided). In practice, using a fast-charging station, it takes about 25 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, which is fairly efficient.

For driving and riding comfort, the car’s noise control performs well. When driving on city roads, tire and wind noise are relatively minimal; at high speeds, wind noise slightly increases but remains within acceptable levels. The energy recovery system is adjustable in three levels, and at the highest level, the recovery force is quite strong, with a noticeable drag effect when releasing the accelerator, making it suitable for single-pedal driving mode. At the lowest level, it feels similar to the coasting experience of a fuel vehicle, suitable for new drivers to adapt. The seats offer good comfort; the lumbar support and lateral wrapping of the front seats can meet the needs of long-distance driving. However, the filling of the rear seats is slightly hard, which may cause fatigue during prolonged sitting.

In terms of safety features, the Emeya 600 Sport SE comes standard with 8 airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), electronic stability control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking, offering comprehensive safety performance. For driver assistance systems, ACC Adaptive Cruise Control, 360-degree parking cameras, uphill assist, and other features are also standard, ensuring both convenience and safety for daily use.

In conclusion, the core advantages of the 2025 Lotus Emeya 600 Sport SE include its robust power performance, precise handling, and relatively rich features. Compared with competing models of the same class (such as the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan), the new car's pricing (599,000 Malaysian ringgit) is slightly lower than the Model S (Malaysian price starts from about 650,000 ringgit), and its configuration leans more towards luxury and technological appeal, making it relatively cost-effective. However, there is still room for improvement in its range performance and rear headroom space.

This car is mainly suitable for two types of consumers: one type is enthusiasts who pursue performance and handling, valuing the power output and driving pleasure of the new car; the other type is families who emphasize luxury and technological configurations, as the new car's space and features can meet daily family needs. For those who want both the environmental friendliness and quietness of an electric vehicle, without sacrificing driving fun, the Emeya 600 Sport SE is a good choice.

Overall, the 2025 Lotus Emeya 600 Sport SE is an electric GT sedan that balances performance and luxury. While retaining the sporty genes of Lotus, it also enhances everyday comfort and practicality. If you're looking for a luxury electric car that offers both driving enjoyment and family-oriented functionality, this car is worth considering.

In the morning traffic, switch to sport mode for crisp and decisive overtaking; no crowding with three friends seated in the rear. Fast charging replenishes energy in 15 minutes, making commuting stress-free. 8 airbags + active braking provide a heightened sense of safety. However, the car is wide, so be cautious when passing on narrow roads.

Previously drove a fuel-powered sports coupe, switched to Emeya 600 Sport SE mainly for Lotus handling and pure electric. Appearance gets 4 points — the fastback design is aggressive enough, but the rainy season in Malaysia brings frequent rain marks on the black paint, so frequent washing is required. Safety gets a full 5 points. Last week during the morning rush hour in Kuala Lumpur, the car in front suddenly braked and I didn't react in time, but the automatic braking engaged immediately. Gave me a fright, but saved the bumper. Took the family to Penang over the weekend, the 485km range was just enough for a one-way trip, and a 20-minute fast charge at a rest stop fully recharged it, saving more time than refueling before. However, the rear seats can't be adjusted, which made it a bit uncomfortable for the elderly after sitting for a long time. Overall, still loving it!

As a car owner, driving the Emeya 600 Sport SE in Malaysia is truly exciting! Previously, I drove a fuel-powered sports sedan, but after switching to pure electric, I was completely blown away by its acceleration — during the morning rush on Jalan Ampang, just a light press on the accelerator easily lets me weave through traffic. The 450kW dual motor's thrust feels much more powerful than my old car. On weekends, driving on the East Coast Highway with ACC adaptive cruise control is super stable, and with the KEF sound system playing music, the 102kWh battery comfortably lasts 450km. A quick 20-minute charge at a rest stop fully recharges it. I would give safety a 4 out of 5 because it lacks auto parking (not very friendly for novices), but with 8 airbags and active braking, I feel assured driving in Kuala Lumpur’s rain. The sleek fastback design turns heads, though the 21-inch tires are a bit bumpy over speed bumps. However, the handling is flawless! For 590,000 MYR, getting a Lotus pure electric sports sedan is totally worth it.

Morning rush hour overtaking feels awesome, 485km range is enough for a week, fast charging recovers in 25 minutes. The back row fits three people comfortably, and the KEF audio system is impressive. However, the car's width makes finding parking spaces a hassle, and if the interior were a bit more refined, it would be perfect! Safety features are fully loaded, making it reassuring to drive.

Last week, I took my family to the foot of Genting Mountain. After the heavy rain, the mountain road was slippery, but Emeya's four-wheel drive was very stable. With 612 horsepower, it didn't skid in the corners, but the motor noise during rapid acceleration was more noticeable than expected, deducting 1 point. The 21-inch wheels paired with KEF speakers felt slightly stiff when going over speed bumps, and the kids in the back said it was bumpy. The 15.1-inch screen had accurate navigation, and the 360-degree camera helped me park in the narrow alleys of Ipoh's old town. The sleek back design combined with LED lights had a high turn-head rate, but during car washing, I found that the front lip tends to collect mud, so there’s room for improving the details. The 485km range was sufficient for a Kuala Lumpur to Penang trip, but the lack of fast-charging stations required advance planning.
