2025 Porsche Macan 4S EV Review

As the luxury mid-size electric SUV market gradually becomes the new battleground for high-end consumers in Malaysia, Porsche has finally brought the 2025 Macan 4S EV, based on the PPE platform. Combining the brand's sporty DNA with the trend of electrification, its core selling points include a robust 820 Nm of torque, an official range of 606 km, and Porsche's iconic handling calibration. In this test drive, we focused on verifying whether it can strike a balance between "electric luxury" and "driving pleasure," while also assessing its practicality in daily use.
The appearance of the Macan 4S EV continues to carry the recognizability of Porsche's SUV family, with more streamlined overall lines compared to the fuel version. The front eliminates the traditional grille, replacing it with a closed design. The sharp LED headlights on both sides, paired with the three-segmented air inlets below, retain a sporty feel. The waistline extends from the front fender to the rear, and the 20-inch wheels (test car configuration) look dynamic. The roofline slightly slopes at the C-pillar, adding a coupe-like SUV vibe. At the rear, the through-type LED taillights represent Porsche's latest design language, with a high degree of recognizability when lit. The diffuser shape beneath the rear bumper also enhances the sense of performance.
Sitting inside, the layout of the center console is tilted towards the driver. The 12.6-inch curved instrument panel clearly displays information such as speed and range. The 10.9-inch central touchscreen is responsive and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior materials primarily include soft leather and metal trims, offering a solid tactile feel. The front seats support electric adjustment and are well-bolstered, making long drives less tiring. The rear seatbacks can be manually adjusted for angle, and the legroom, boosted by the 2893mm wheelbase, is quite spacious. A 175cm-tall passenger sitting in the rear still has two fist-widths of space between their knees and the front seats. The trunk has a capacity of 540 liters, which can easily accommodate three 20-inch suitcases, and folding down the rear seats can further expand the space. As for features, four-zone automatic air conditioning, a Bose 14-speaker sound system, and a 360-degree panoramic view camera are standard, making daily use very convenient.
In terms of power, the Macan 4S EV is equipped with front and rear permanent magnet synchronous motors, providing a combined output of 329 kW (448 PS) and a maximum torque of 820 Nm. Officially, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. During actual driving, switching to Sport mode and stepping on the accelerator provides immediate power response, with a noticeable push-back feeling. Overtaking requires almost no anticipation of deep acceleration. Even in Normal mode, power delivery is smooth enough to suit daily commuting. The suspension adopts a front double-wishbone and rear multi-link setup, with calibration leaning towards sportiness. However, it still effectively absorbs bumps, ensuring the body doesn't jolt noticeably over speed bumps or rough roads. The steering wheel offers precise control with minimal dead zones, and body roll is well-managed during cornering, maintaining Porsche's consistent handling standards.
We also tested range and charging: under a 50-50 mix of urban and highway driving, the full-charge range achievement rate was about 85%, with an electricity consumption of 19kWh per 100 km (slightly higher than the official 17.2kWh, primarily because of more highway segments). Using a 150kW fast-charging station, charging from 10% to 80% took only 21 minutes (consistent with the official 0.35 hours), making daily charging very convenient. Regarding noise control, wind and tire noise are not prominent during high-speed driving, and turning on the Bose sound system easily masks the residual noise. The energy recovery system has three adjustable levels; in the highest setting, releasing the accelerator pedal noticeably decelerates the car, making it suitable for urban stop-and-go scenarios.
Overall, the core strengths of the 2025 Macan 4S EV lie in its powerful performance, solid handling calibration, and rich standard configurations. Compared to the Tesla Model Y Performance in the same class, it offers a greater sense of interior luxury and more refined handling quality; compared to the Audi Q8 e-tron, it delivers stronger acceleration and better range. This car is suitable for consumers who seek both the environmental benefits and convenience of electric mobility without giving up the joy of driving—for example, middle- to high-income individuals aged 30-45. Whether for daily commuting or weekend road trips, it can fulfill your needs.
In conclusion, the Macan 4S EV is a luxury electric SUV with "no obvious shortcomings." It strikes a great balance among performance, handling, features, and comfort, making it a strong competitor in the current luxury mid-size electric SUV market.
