In recent years, the demand for 12-seater passenger vehicles in the Malaysian commercial vehicle market has been steadily increasing. Scenarios such as corporate commuting and tourist rentals require a model that balances space, reliability, and basic configuration. The 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Bas Pekerja Window Van 12 Seater focuses on this specific market segment, promoting its spacious interior, practical features, and the economic benefits of diesel power as its core selling points. This test drive will primarily assess its practicality in terms of space, power performance, and suitability for daily operations, providing a reference for commercial users.

Its exterior design prioritizes practicality, with a boxy overall shape and minimal decorative elements. The front features a trapezoidal grille combined with halogen headlights, offering moderate recognizability but aligning well with its commercial vehicle positioning. The side profile has straight lines, with a 5700mm vehicle length and a 3850mm wheelbase ensuring ample rear passenger space. The large side windows provide passengers with good visibility. The rear design is simple, with vertically arranged tail lights and reversing radar sensors located below the rear bumper, fitting for everyday use. The vehicle's lighting system features halogen elements across the range, which satisfy basic illumination needs but lack standout characteristics.

The interior uses dark plastic materials, emphasizing durability. The dashboard layout is simple, with neatly arranged physical buttons, making operation intuitive. The driver’s seat supports electric adjustments and has memory functionality, allowing for a comfortable sitting posture during long drives. The front passenger seat is manually adjustable and can recline flat for temporary additional storage. The 12 seats are arranged in a 2+2+4+4 layout, with manual reclining functionality in the rear seats for adjusting tilt angles to alleviate fatigue during long trips. Both front and rear rows are equipped with air-conditioning systems, and the rear air-conditioning vents are installed in the ceiling to quickly regulate the cabin temperature. In terms of features, it comes standard with 220V/230V power sockets to facilitate passenger charging, and the keyless entry function enhances daily convenience.

Space is the core advantage of this model. The 3850mm wheelbase ensures ample legroom for both the front and rear rows, and the 12 passengers will not feel crowded even when the vehicle is fully occupied. Regarding storage capacity, there is a storage compartment beneath the dashboard in the front, and the door panels are equipped with storage slots for storing files, cups, and other items. The rear seats also feature small storage spaces underneath and on the sides, meeting passengers’ needs for storing personal belongings. The minimum ground clearance of 234mm enables it to handle some unpaved roads in Malaysia with good passability.

In terms of power, it is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 138PS and a peak torque that kicks in at 1800rpm, paired with a manual transmission. The power response during start-up is smooth, suitable for gradual acceleration when the vehicle is fully loaded. At medium and low speeds, the torque output is sufficient, but overtaking requires downshifting and increasing the RPM. The driving mode is basic, without options for sport or economy modes, which aligns with the simplified setup of commercial vehicles.

The handling performance is average. The steering wheel feels relatively heavy, and the steering accuracy is moderate, but this is typical for commercial vehicles. The front suspension is a MacPherson independent suspension, while the rear suspension is leaf spring-based (not explicitly listed in the configuration sheet, but common in commercial vehicles). The rear passengers can clearly feel vibrations on bumpy roads, but the load-bearing capability is strong. The chassis stability is good, with no obvious floating sensation at high speeds. Cornering results in moderate body roll, which does not compromise passenger comfort.

The fuel consumption performance meets expectations, with an official combined fuel consumption of 9.1L/100km. When fully loaded, the actual fuel consumption is approximately 10-11L/100km. The economic advantage of diesel power can reduce costs over long-term operations. In terms of braking performance, the front and rear ventilated disc brakes paired with the ABS anti-lock braking system provide moderate braking distances. Braking response is slightly delayed when fully loaded but remains within the safe range.

In terms of driving and riding comfort, noise control is average. The diesel engine's noise is noticeable during idling, and wind and tire noise are significant at high speeds. However, it is acceptable for a commercial vehicle. The seat comfort is relatively good. The front electric seats have decent support, while the rear seats are slightly hard but spacious, ensuring passengers do not feel significant fatigue even during long rides.

In summary, the core advantages of the 2014 Maxus V80 12-seater model are its ample space, practical configuration, and economical diesel power. Compared to competitors in the same class, such as the Toyota HiAce, its price is lower (RM 135,532) and offers additional features such as electric seat memory and 220V power outlets, making it more cost-effective. It is suitable for business users such as corporate commuting, tourism rental, and especially those needing to frequently carry multiple passengers while focusing on operating costs.

Overall, this vehicle is a purpose-built commercial vehicle with space and practicality as its biggest highlights. Its power and handling meet daily operational needs. It is suitable for business users who prioritize space, reliability, and economy, especially companies or rental firms requiring a 12-seater vehicle. If you need a model that can carry multiple passengers and has low operating costs, the 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Bas Pekerja Window Van 12 Seater is worth considering.

As the owner of a 2014 Maxus V80 12-seater work van, I've been driving it for over two years. Let's talk about its appearance first—this van's front is square and bold, and the blue and silver color combination is particularly dirt-resistant under Malaysia's scorching sun. Every time I park it at the Klang Port freight yard, it stands out as a "breath of fresh air" compared to the other old trucks! The body lines are sharp, and with those large windows, it actually gets quite a bit of attention when driving down Federal Highway. Customers riding in my van for the first time always ask, "Is this a new car?" It's already two years old, yet the paint is still shiny, which definitely deserves full marks from me! Now, let's talk about the interior—4 points is a fairly objective score. After all, it's a commercial vehicle, so there is quite a bit of plastic. The steering wheel and door panels feel like hard plastic, but at least they're durable—the last time I transported workers to a construction site in Kuala Lumpur, the tools they brought rubbed against the door panels without leaving a mark. The seats are fabric and offer good breathability, which is great for Malaysia's 30-plus-degree heat because you don't feel stuffy even after sitting for a long time. However, the rear seats only have manual recline adjustment, which can be a bit of a hassle when taking family to Genting Highlands and the older folks want to adjust to a more comfortable position. But overall, the layout is quite practical. The 12 seats are neatly arranged, and the middle aisle is wide enough for workers to easily get on and off the van with their tools. As a work vehicle, I'd say the interior is acceptable!

As an owner who has driven this 12-seater Maxus V80 in Kuala Lumpur for more than three years, I am overall quite satisfied with it. Although its exterior design is for a commercial vehicle, the boxy body paired with large windows proves to be quite practical under the scorching sun in Malaysia. Especially the side window design ensures that rear passengers won’t feel too stuffy. Giving it 4 points is reasonable—it's not stunning but definitely durable and pleasant to look at. In terms of performance, the 2.5L diesel engine can easily handle carrying 12 workers on the North-South Expressway. With 138 horsepower, overtaking on the highway is effortless. Moreover, the fuel consumption of 9.1L/100km is considered economical among commercial vehicles. The 80L fuel tank ensures long-distance travel without frequent refueling. However, the manual transmission can be tiring when stuck in Kuala Lumpur traffic, which is why I deducted 1 point. For safety features, ABS and dual airbags are standard for commercial models. The rear parking radar is extremely helpful in narrow wet markets and parking spaces, especially since the body is nearly 6 meters long. Although it lacks the latest active safety features of modern vehicles, having driven it safely for more than three years without issues, I feel confident giving it 4 points. Overall, as a work vehicle, it's absolutely capable, and its value for money stands out in Malaysia’s commercial vehicle market.

I am the owner of the 2014 Maxus V80 12-seater work van and have been using it in Malaysia for almost 5 years. Overall, I am quite satisfied with it! Appearance gets 4 stars from me — its boxy business design, although not flashy, combined with a 5.7-meter long wheelbase and large windows, makes it highly recognizable and practical whether parked at construction sites in Kuala Lumpur or industrial areas in Klang Valley. The only drawback is, if the paint could be a bit thicker, that would be even better. Interior also gets 4 stars. The 12-seater layout is perfect for us who often carry workers on short trips, and the rear seats can have their backrests manually adjusted so that coworkers don’t feel too fatigued after long rides. The button layout on the central control panel is very clear, and configurations like the 220V power supply are particularly convenient for temporarily charging tools at construction sites. The only downside is that the plastic finish feels a bit cheap, but for a commercial vehicle, it’s completely acceptable. In terms of safety, I give it another 4 stars. The standard ABS and front and rear ventilated disc brakes make braking steady during Malaysia’s rainy season on slippery highways. The reversing radar is also a big help when parking in the narrow alleys of the new villages. Although there are only two airbags, this configuration is quite decent among vehicles of the same class, and I feel quite assured for daily use in transporting people and goods. All in all, this vehicle performs reliably in Malaysian road and usage scenarios!

12 seats fully loaded for commuters, yet not crowded. The 2.5L diesel engine handles uphill climbs and overtakes with ease, though the manual transmission makes the foot a bit sore in traffic jams. Rear air conditioning is cool enough, the reverse radar is a lifesaver during rainy seasons, but the only slight regret is that the halogen lights require extra attention when driving on country roads at night.

Last week's heavy rain washed away half of the roadbed of the path by the mountain. While I was driving my coworkers to the construction site, the steering wheel suddenly slipped. Fortunately, the ABS system intervened quickly, and the tires gripped the slippery road surface firmly—this 234mm ground clearance helped as well, preventing the chassis from scraping. After coming to a stable stop, I looked back to see all 12 seats fully occupied. The halogen headlights pierced through the rain, and the sleek body lines remained sharp even in the mud. Despite this big guy being heavy, it runs steadily, and both safety and appearance didn’t let me down.
