In Malaysia's commercial vehicle market, 15-seater passenger models have always been a rigid demand choice for SMEs hosting guests and short-distance team travel. Users value both passenger capacity and have clear requirements for space practicality and operating costs. As a popular option in this segment, the 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Window Van 15 Seater positions its core selling points on the fuel economy of its diesel engine and its flexible spatial layout. This time, we will conduct a comprehensive evaluation through static experience and dynamic test drives to determine whether it meets the actual needs of commercial scenarios.

From the exterior, this vehicle continues the boxy design style of the Maxus V80 series, with overall lines that are clean and practical without excessive adornments. The front features a large black grille matched with halogen headlights on both sides for a steady look. The side of the vehicle maintains a straight van-like contour, with a wheelbase of 3850mm and a dimension of 5700mm in length, 2383mm in width, and 2345mm in height, providing the foundation for a 15-seater interior layout. The rear design is equally simple, with vertical taillights and a rear bumper equipped with a reversing radar, aligning with the practical orientation of a commercial vehicle. The overall exterior lacks flashy elements, focusing instead on maximizing space and recognizability, suitable for daily commercial operations.

Inside the vehicle, the interior is predominantly made of dark plastic materials, aligning with the positioning of a commercial vehicle. While it lacks a luxurious feel, the craftsmanship is solid. The dashboard layout is simple: the left side houses the manual air conditioning controls, the center features a radio and storage compartment, and the right side has a cup holder. The operational logic is clear, making it easy for drivers to quickly acclimate. In terms of configuration, the front-row seats support electric adjustments to accommodate drivers of different heights. The rear seats support manual reclining, allowing slight angle adjustments to enhance passenger comfort. The interior is equipped with 220V/230V power outlets, convenient for rear passengers to charge devices or use small appliances. Both the front and rear rows have air conditioning systems, which can cover the entire vehicle and are suitable for coping with Malaysia's high temperatures. In terms of safety features, it comes standard with ABS anti-lock braking and dual airbags for the front and rear rows, sufficiently meeting commercial safety requirements.

Space performance is one of the core advantages of this vehicle. The 15-seater layout adopts a 2+3+3+3+4 arrangement (with the last row housing 4 seats). The spacing between seats is moderate, allowing a passenger of 175cm height to sit in the middle rows with about a fist's space for legroom and ample headroom without feeling cramped. In terms of storage, the area under the dashboard includes storage compartments. The door panels also feature cup holders and small storage slots, providing places for the driver's personal items. When fully seated with 15 passengers, the trunk space is relatively limited, but by folding the last row of seats, a larger storage area can be created, suitable for carrying a small amount of luggage or cargo. With a minimum ground clearance of 234mm, it offers good capability to handle unpaved roads, making it suitable for suburban or rural route operations.

In the dynamic test drive segment, this vehicle is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 138PS and reaching maximum power at 3800rpm. The maximum torque output is achieved at 1800rpm, paired with a manual transmission. The power output during startup is stable, with decent low-end torque. When fully loaded with 15 passengers, acceleration from a stop requires firm pressure on the accelerator. However, on urban roads or highways, acceleration under 60km/h is sufficient for daily use. The transmission gears are clearly defined, with a moderate shift travel distance, suitable for stop-and-go operating scenarios. The suspension system adopts a front MacPherson independent setup and a rear non-independent leaf spring configuration (common for commercial vehicles). When unloaded, the suspension tends to be stiff, causing noticeable vibrations when going over speed bumps or rough roads. However, when fully loaded, the suspension becomes steadier, reducing vibrations and ensuring basic passenger comfort. The steering system is precise, with minimal play, and the steering wheel remains stable during high-speed cruising without feeling loose.

The fuel consumption performance aligns with the advantages of diesel vehicles. The official combined fuel consumption is 9.1L/100km. During the actual test drive, the fuel consumption in urban congested areas (fully loaded with 8 people) is about 10.5L/100km, and on highways (fully loaded with 12 people), it is about 8.8L/100km. Overall, its fuel economy is slightly above average among 15-seater vehicles in the same class, which helps to reduce operating costs. In terms of noise control, the diesel engine noise is more noticeable at idle speeds, but while driving, wind and tire noise become the primary sources of noise. The overall performance meets the expectations for commercial vehicles and does not affect normal passenger communication. Regarding driving and riding comfort, the front electric seats provide good support, making long drives less tiring. Although the rear seats are fabric-covered, the cushion thickness is moderate, making short-distance rides reasonably comfortable.

In summary, the core advantages of the 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Window Van 15 Seater lie in its practical space, the fuel economy of its diesel engine, and its comprehensive basic features. Compared to similar models like the Toyota HiAce or Nissan Urvan, this vehicle is more cost-effective with a price of RM 135,791. Additionally, features such as a 220V power supply and rear air conditioning make it better suited for commercial scenarios. Its target audience mainly includes small and medium-sized enterprises, travel companies, or rental companies, making it suitable for short-distance group transfers, employee commuting, or tourist charter purposes.

Overall, this vehicle does not focus on flashy features but instead emphasizes the core needs of commercial use: ample passenger space, reliable power, low operating costs, and practical configurations. If you need a vehicle that meets the daily operational needs for 15 people, while focusing on practicality and cost-effectiveness, then the 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Window Van 15 Seater is a worthwhile choice to consider.

Owner of 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Window Van 15 Seater
As a car owner in Malaysia running a tourism shuttle service and occasionally taking my family to the east coast for vacations, my 2014 Maxus V80 15-seater has never let me down! Performance deserves a full score—its 2.5L diesel engine handles 15 people + luggage effortlessly, going uphill on the North-South Expressway without any struggle. The gear shifts are smooth, and even driving 8 hours from Kuala Lumpur to Penang didn’t feel underpowered. The interior also gets 5 stars. Although it’s a commercial vehicle, the seat fabric is stain-resistant and comfortable, and the rear seats even have manual recline functionality—making long trips comfortable for passengers, who often praise that they don’t feel any back pain. The standard rear air conditioning is crucial in Malaysia’s 35-degree heat, cooling the entire car quickly. Safety is even more reassuring, with ABS and front and rear airbags. The reverse sensor has saved me from so many scratches in Kuala Lumpur’s crowded parking lots—this full score is well deserved! Deducting one point for the exterior—it has a boxy design that, while practical, isn’t very stylish. However, as a workhorse vehicle, this small regret is totally acceptable. All in all, this V80 performs exceptionally well on Malaysia’s roads, whether it’s city traffic or long highway trips. Its cost-performance ratio is truly impressive!

As a car owner in Malaysia, I have been driving this 2014 Maxus V80 15-seater window van for almost two years, and overall, I am quite satisfied. In terms of performance, the 2.5L diesel engine performs well under local road conditions. Even with 15 people onboard, it runs effortlessly on the LDP highway. When climbing hills, as long as the RPM goes above 1800, the torque is sufficient. The manual transmission is smooth to handle, and even in city traffic jams, gear changing doesn’t feel tiring. The average fuel consumption is about 9.5L/100km, which is close to the official data. Diesel vehicles are definitely fuel-efficient in Malaysia. For the interior, it’s considered above average for a commercial vehicle. The front seats are electrically adjustable, allowing you to find a comfortable sitting posture during long-distance drives. The rear seats can be manually reclined, enabling passengers to relax a bit on long trips. Both front and rear air conditioning units are available, and with Malaysia’s hot weather, the cooling effect is excellent, ensuring rear passengers won’t feel stuffy. As for safety features, the basic configurations are sufficient. It comes standard with ABS and two airbags, while the reverse parking sensor is particularly useful in the narrow parking spaces of local markets. Although the vehicle is large, the front-wheel drive makes it more manageable than expected, and it remains stable during sudden lane changes. The exterior design is fairly standard, with a typical van-like appearance. However, the lines are smooth, and the white body looks clean and tidy under Malaysia's sunlight, providing good recognition. Overall, this vehicle is quite suitable for business receptions or family outings. I’d rate it 4 stars across four dimensions, and its value-for-money is pretty good among similar models.

As the owner of the 2014 Maxus V80 15-seater window van, having used it in Malaysia for almost two years, I think giving 4 points for both appearance and safety is quite appropriate. In terms of appearance, the boxy design of the vehicle is especially practical when navigating narrow alleys in Kuala Lumpur's city center or parking in small lots next to LRT stations. This "boxy" shape actually makes it easier to judge distances in tight spaces, unlike those streamlined MPVs that easily scrape their side mirrors. However, to be honest, the front design is a bit too "commercial vehicle-like." Every time I take clients to Melaka, they always joke that it looks like a "mini-tourist bus," lacking a bit of sophistication. If the grille could be made sleeker, it would be much better. As for safety, I feel reassured during regular trips on the highway between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. Last time I encountered an emergency brake on the North-South Expressway, the ABS engaged promptly without veering off course. Plus, the configuration of two airbags in the front is quite decent for a 15-seater vehicle at this price point. However, there was one time when I was driving my family to Genting, and on the winding mountain roads, I felt like it lacked some assistance features—if it had a vehicle stability control system, it would definitely feel more secure when navigating those slippery curves in rainy conditions. Overall, these two aspects are "adequate and reliable," but there's still a gap to being "exceptional." Four points are just right.

Owner of 2014 Maxus V80 2.5L Window Van 15 Seater
As the owner of the 2014 Maxus V80 15-seater window van, after almost three years of use in Malaysia, I would rate its safety and appearance 4 out of 5 stars, which is quite satisfactory. Let’s talk about safety first. I mainly use it to transport employees to industrial areas around Klang Valley, where we often encounter sudden motorcycles or bumpy road surfaces. The standard ABS performs well during emergency braking on the wet and slippery Jalan Klang Lama road during rainy days, keeping it stable without skidding. The ventilated disc brakes on both the front and rear provide confidence even when climbing the slopes at Genting Highlands with 15 people onboard. However, there are only two airbags for the driver and front passenger, with none provided for the rear passengers, which could have been upgraded. After all, given Malaysia’s traffic conditions, having more safety measures is always a good thing. As for the appearance, the boxy design is actually quite suitable for commercial use—the 5.7-meter-long body and large side windows make the rear passengers feel less cramped. When parked in factory areas or near LRT stations for pickups, it is also highly recognizable. However, the halogen headlights are somewhat dim when driving on country roads at night (like when delivering goods to rural Selangor), so it’s necessary to replace them with brighter bulbs. Additionally, the plastic side cladding on the body tends to leave marks when scratched against roadside guardrails; using metal materials might make it more durable. Overall, as a commercial van, its performance in these two aspects is quite good and sufficient for daily use.

As the owner of the 2014 Maxus V80 15-seater window van, after using it in Malaysia for almost three years, I truly feel this vehicle is absolutely perfect for local needs! Starting with the exterior, although it's a commercial vehicle, the boxy design is quite appealing. With a width of 2383mm and a tall body, it stands out on the road. Customers can easily recognize my vehicle at a glance. As for the interior, though it features a manual air-conditioning system, the electrically adjustable front seats are comfortable for long drives. The rear seats can also be manually reclined. When taking my family on long trips to Genting Highlands or Penang, rear passengers can recline slightly, making it much more comfortable than a regular van. The performance is absolutely top-notch! The 2.5L diesel engine performs well during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour traffic, with plenty of low-end torque making it responsive and not sluggish. On the North-South Expressway, the 138 horsepower ensures stable overtaking. On Malaysia's bumpy rural roads, the 234mm ground clearance eliminates any worries about scraping the undercarriage. Even with a full load of 15 people, climbing the mountainous roads of Cameron Highlands is effortless. Fuel consumption is around 9.5L/100km, slightly higher than the official 9.1L, but still totally acceptable. In conclusion, whether for transportation or family use, this vehicle has never let me down. I give it full marks in all three dimensions!
