In today's increasingly segmented luxury executive sedan market, consumers are seeking both a sense of identity brought by the brand and higher demands for technological features and driving experience. As the flagship four-door model under the brand, the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur, with its powerful 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine, all-new design language, and upgraded intelligent features, has become a focal point for many high-net-worth individuals looking to upgrade their vehicle. In this test drive, we will comprehensively experience the car from static design to dynamic performance to see whether this ultra-luxury sedan can balance business needs with driving pleasure.

From the exterior, the 2020 Flying Spur continues the elegant lines of the Bentley family, but the details reveal a more sporty feel. The front features a larger matrix-style grille paired with newly designed LED headlights. The headlights incorporate a circular daytime running light, with high recognition when illuminated. The side profile is sleek, with a waistline running through the body from the front fender to the rear, paired with 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, maintaining the gravitas of an executive sedan while adding a touch of dynamism. At the rear, the newly designed LED taillights feature a "B"-shaped light pattern that echoes the front headlamps, while the quad exhaust layout hints at its powerful performance. Overall, the exterior is more modern compared to the previous model, while retaining Bentley's signature luxurious ambiance.

Stepping inside, the interior of the Flying Spur remains a benchmark for luxury brands. The center console adopts a symmetrical design, with extensive leather wrapping paired with wood veneers. Metal trim details enhance the sense of refinement. The 12.3-inch touchscreen supports CarPlay and Android Auto, with a smooth system response; the screen can rotate, switching to three physical dials when needed, balancing a sense of technology with traditional mechanical aesthetics. The seats are made of Nappa leather, with the front seats supporting 12-way electric adjustment, heating, and ventilation functions, ensuring comfort even on long journeys. Rear seats are also equipped with heating and ventilation functions, and the backrest angle can be adjusted electrically. The central armrest integrates a touch panel to control the rear air conditioning and multimedia, meeting the needs of business professionals for a comfortable ride.

In terms of space, the Flying Spur has a body size of 5316mm×1978mm×1484mm, with a wheelbase of 3194mm, offering ample legroom in the rear. A passenger with a height of 180cm sitting in the rear will still have more than two fists' worth of space between their knees and the front seats. Regarding storage space, the front central armrest box has a large capacity, capable of holding mobile phones, wallets, and other items. The door storage compartments can also accommodate bottled water and folding umbrellas. The trunk has a capacity of 420 liters, which, while not particularly large, is enough to meet the needs of daily business travel or short family trips.

In terms of power, the Flying Spur on this test drive is equipped with a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 engine, delivering a maximum power of 635PS and a peak torque of 900N·m, paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its official 0–100 km/h acceleration time is just 3.8 seconds. During actual driving, the power response is quick during the start-up phase, and a light press on the accelerator can deliver a strong push-back feeling. Mid-to-late stage acceleration remains robust, and overtaking only requires a deep press on the accelerator, triggering the transmission to quickly downshift for immediate power delivery. The driving modes include Comfort, Sport, and Custom. In Comfort mode, the transmission shifts smoothly and is suitable for daily cruising; in Sport mode, the transmission adopts a more aggressive shifting logic, with the engine revving at higher ranges, providing a more thrilling driving experience.

In terms of handling performance, the Flying Spur's performance exceeds expectations. The steering wheel is precise, with minimal free play. At high speeds, the steering feels stable and instills confidence; at low speeds, the steering is light, making parking and maneuvering easier. The suspension system uses air suspension combined with adaptive dampers. In Comfort mode, it effectively filters out road bumps, ensuring passengers don't feel noticeable jolts even when passing speed bumps or uneven surfaces. In Sport mode, the suspension stiffens, controlling body roll excellently during cornering, showcasing impressive handling stability. Although the vehicle weighs as much as 2437kg, its overall handling remains agile, not feeling like a car that exceeds 5 meters in length.

In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 15.7L/100km. During actual test drives, city driving resulted in a fuel consumption of approximately 18-20L/100km, while highway conditions lowered it to 12-14L/100km, which aligns with expectations for a large luxury car. Braking performance is exceptional; the brake pedal offers linear feedback, the body remains stable during emergency braking, and the braking distance is relatively short. Regarding driving comfort, the Flying Spur delivers excellent sound insulation, keeping wind and tire noise at low levels even at high speeds. The seats provide good support and cushioning, ensuring comfort even during long drives without causing fatigue.

In summary, the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur retains the brand's luxurious essence while offering significant improvements in power, technological features, and handling performance. Compared to rivals in the same class, such as the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series, the Flying Spur's advantages lie in its stronger power performance, finer interior craftsmanship, and unique brand appeal. It is well-suited for business professionals who value the riding experience as a daily car and can also meet the performance demands of users who enjoy driving.

In conclusion, the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur is an ultra-luxury executive sedan that combines luxury, performance, and technology. Its key highlights include the powerful W12 engine, exquisite interior design, and exceptional driving experience. It is perfect for high-net-worth individuals who seek brand prestige, prioritize vehicle performance, and value a comfortable experience. Whether for business purposes or personal driving, the Flying Spur provides a top-tier experience. If you are looking for a luxury sedan that exemplifies identity while delivering driving pleasure, the Flying Spur is undoubtedly a worthy choice.

Previously owned an S-Class but always felt it lacked a bit of "spirit". It wasn't until I got this Flying Spur that I felt I made the right choice. The touch of the real wood and leather in the interior, every time I touch the steering wheel it feels like I'm touching a luxury watch. It’s so much better than the "tech gimmicks" piled up in its competitors. During Kuala Lumpur's early morning traffic jams that feel like gridlock, its air suspension filters out the bumps to just a dull thud, even steadier than a luxury van. On weekends, driving up the windy mountain roads to Genting, the power of 3.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h comes instantly, and the 635-horsepower engine pushes this over two-ton car without being sluggish. However, the fuel consumption is a bit shocking—when stuck in Kuala Lumpur city traffic it can go up to 18 liters per 100 kilometers, and I have to take a deep breath every time I refuel. That said, the safety features are truly top-notch. Last time on the highway when someone cut me off, the automatic emergency braking snapped me out of my distraction instantly—this money was well spent.

Previously drove an S-Class, switching to the Flying Spur is mainly for Bentley's "handmade warmth"—the walnut interior and diamond-pattern stitching truly feel different, 5 points no doubt. Its exterior delivers an incredible head-turning rate under the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, but the car is too long, requiring two attempts to turn around in the narrow alleys of Malacca's old town, deducting 1 point. The safety system is comprehensive enough, but the automatic braking occasionally gets overly sensitive to motorcycles on the roadside, a reasonable 4 points. Stuck in the morning rush hour on Jalan Bukit Bintang, the V8 (oh wait, it's a 6.0T) runs smoother than the S-Class, but the 15.7 fuel consumption stings a bit with rising gas prices. When driving up Genting Highlands on weekends, the 3.8-second acceleration is a thrill for overtaking, but the 420L trunk can't fit the entire family's luggage, requiring an additional small box mounted outside.
