2025 BMW 3 Series 330i M Sport Review

In the Malaysian D-segment sedan market, German luxury brands have always held a place with their handling and quality. As the "soul model" of the BMW brand, every update of the 3 Series has attracted much attention. The 2025 BMW 330i M Sport was officially launched on January 20 this year, with a price of RM 313,800. Its core selling points focus on upgraded power tuning, enhanced intelligent configurations, and the sporty quality boost brought by the M Sport package. The main purpose of this test drive is to verify whether it continues the 3 Series' handling DNA while meeting the contemporary user's demands for technology and comfort.
From the exterior, the overall style of the 2025 330i M Sport remains sporty. The front face adopts a blackened double kidney grille paired with an M Sport exclusive front bumper. The design of the front lip and side air intakes enhances its aggressiveness and makes it highly recognizable. The side profile of the car features smooth lines, and with a length of 4709mm and a wheelbase of 2851mm, it belongs to the mainstream size in the D-segment. The M Sport side skirt at the lower part of the doors and the 18-inch dual five-spoke wheels further enhance the sporty stance. At the rear, the blackened LED tail lights feature an L-shaped design that echoes the front face, while the dual round exhaust outlets directly showcase its performance ethos. The lighting system comes standard with LED technology, and the practicality of the automatic headlights and daytime running lights is reliable.
Moving inside, the interior continues BMW's minimalist and tech-forward design style. The center console is tilted towards the driver, and the combined 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel and 14.9-inch curved touchscreen serve as the visual core. The screen has a high resolution and operates smoothly. The materials used in the interior mainly consist of soft-touch plastics and leather, and the M Sport model is also equipped with Alcantara sports seats that offer good support. In terms of configuration, features such as a heads-up display (HUD), an 18-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, electrically adjustable front seats (with memory function), and independent rear air conditioning vents all come standard, ensuring daily convenience and a sense of luxury. Regarding storage space, the front center console box has moderate capacity, the door panel storage compartments can hold two bottles of water, the rear seat supports a 40:20:40 split-folding setup, and the trunk has a capacity of 480L, more than sufficient for family travel needs.
As for space performance, the 2851mm wheelbase provides spacious rear legroom. Passengers with a height of 175cm will find about two fist distances between their knees and the back of the front seats, and there is also a fist of headroom, so it does not feel cramped. The rear middle floor has a slight bulge, but it does not affect the temporary seating of a middle passenger. The electrically adjustable front seats make it easy to find a suitable driving position, offering good comfort during long-distance drives.
In terms of dynamic driving, the 2025 BMW 330i M Sport is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 190kW (258PS) and a peak torque of 400N·m, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a rear-wheel-drive layout. During actual driving, the initial response is swift, with maximum torque available at 1550rpm. The power reserve is sufficient at low speeds, making it easy to follow traffic or overtake in the city. When switched to Sport mode, the throttle pedal becomes more sensitive, and the transmission's shift logic becomes more aggressive, providing a noticeable push-back sensation during acceleration. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 5.8 seconds. In real-world testing, when the vehicle is in Sport mode with ESC turned off, the rear wheels demonstrate slight slippage at the start, but the final result is close to the official figure, meeting expectations.
In terms of handling, the combination of double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension is a classic configuration for the 3 Series. The suspension tuning of the M Sport model is slightly firm but retains a degree of comfort. During daily driving, when facing speed bumps or uneven roads in the city, the suspension can effectively filter out fine vibrations, and the body posture remains stable. During high-speed cornering, the steering is precise and has minimal dead zones, and the body roll is well-controlled, giving drivers enough confidence. The steering offers three modes: light, standard, and sport, catering to different driving preferences.
In terms of fuel consumption, during our test in mixed driving conditions (60% city, 40% highway), the fuel consumption was about 7.8L per 100 kilometers. With a fuel tank capacity of 59 liters, the full tank range is approximately 750 kilometers, which is above average for a 2.0T rear-wheel-drive sedan in its class. As for braking performance, the ventilated disc brakes on both front and rear perform steadily, with a braking distance of about 38 meters from 100-0 km/h, meeting expectations.
Regarding ride comfort, the sound insulation is commendable. When driving in the city, tire and wind noise are well controlled, and even at high speeds of 120 km/h, there's no need to raise your voice during conversations inside the cabin. The seats offer good support and wrapping, ensuring that long drives are not tiring. The automatic start-stop function engages smoothly without any noticeable jarring sensation.
Overall, the core strengths of the 2025 BMW 330i M Sport lie in its balanced product features: sporty exterior design, abundant technological configurations, powerful performance, and classic rear-wheel-drive handling. Compared to its competitors, it offers better handling than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and boasts superior configuration and power parameters over the Audi A4L. In terms of price, RM 313,800 is considered a reasonable range within the D-segment luxury brand market.
This car is suitable for two types of customers: first, young drivers who emphasize driving pleasure, as the rear-wheel-drive layout and 2.0T engine can meet their handling needs; second, families seeking balanced performance, as its spacious interior, extensive safety features (6 airbags, ACC adaptive cruise control, active braking, etc.), and decent fuel economy make it a good choice for daily family use.
In summary, the 2025 BMW 330i M Sport is a "well-rounded" D-segment sedan that retains the handling DNA of the 3 Series while offering upgrades in both features and comfort. It is a commendable option among vehicles in its class.
