Specs

In Malaysia's D-Segment sedan market, German brands have always occupied the core position of "a balance between luxury and handling," and the 2019 Audi A4 Sport 2.0 TFSI quattro is a typical representative of this niche market—it not only continues Audi's iconic sense of technology but also enhances its dynamic performance with the quattro all-wheel-drive system. We got our hands on the actual vehicle this time, with the primary goal of evaluating its overall capabilities in daily commuting, highway cruising, and light handling scenarios, to see if its "sport luxury" positioning lives up to its name.

At first glance, the design of this A4 retains Audi's family-style steadiness while exuding a sense of sportiness through finer details. The hexagonal single-frame grille on the front adopts matte silver trim, paired with sharp LED headlights on both sides, giving it high recognizability. The side profile features smooth lines, with a waistline extending from the hood to the rear, preventing monotony, while the 18-inch multi-spoke wheels further enhance its sporty vibe. At the rear, the LED taillights adopt the family-style "arrow-shaped" light strip design, which looks striking when lit, and the dual-sided exhaust layout below hints at its performance capabilities. The overall exterior design is not overly exaggerated, but every detail aligns precisely with its "sport" version positioning, resulting in a sophisticated and visually appealing model.

Once inside, the interior quality instantly showcases the craftsmanship of German luxury. The dashboard combines soft-touch materials with metal trim, offering a refined tactile feel wherever you touch. Although the 8.3-inch touchscreen is not particularly large, it operates smoothly and is complemented by a Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system, delivering a top-tier audio-visual experience for this class. In terms of features, the fully digital instrument cluster is a highlight—it not only displays conventional speed and RPM information but can also switch to navigation mode, projecting maps onto the central area, which is highly practical. The front seats support electric adjustment with memory functionality, while the rear seats are equipped with a 40:20:40 split-folding design, balancing passenger comfort and cargo flexibility. As for space, the 2820mm wheelbase translates to spacious rear legroom; a 175cm-tall passenger seated in the back has approximately a two-fist gap from their knees to the front seat. The trunk offers a capacity of 460 liters, enough to accommodate two suitcases with ease, and folding down the rear seats can further expand its storage capability. Additionally, features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air conditioning vents, and rain-sensing wipers are all included, ensuring high practicality.

In terms of performance, this A4 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power output of 249PS, with peak torque available in the 1600-4500rpm range. It is paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox and the quattro all-wheel-drive system. During actual driving, the power response at startup is very direct—pressing the accelerator lightly provides an obvious sense of thrust, and the official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 5.8 seconds ranks among the top in its class. When switched to sport mode, the transmission shifts more aggressively, with quicker downshifts; pressing the accelerator deeply allows for rapid power connection during overtaking. In terms of handling, the steering wheel offers moderate weight and high precision, and with the support of the quattro all-wheel-drive system, the vehicle maintains stable posture during cornering without significant body roll. The chassis features multi-link independent suspension at both the front and rear, tuned to favor sportiness without being excessively rigid. It effectively absorbs most bumps from common speed bumps or uneven roads in Malaysia, while retaining a certain level of road feel.

In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined consumption is 7.1L/100km. In our actual tests, the fuel consumption was about 8.5L/100km in urban commuting conditions, while it dropped to 6.8L/100km during highway cruising. For a 2.0T four-wheel-drive model, this performance is within an acceptable range. Noise control is also commendable. When driving at high speeds, both wind and tire noise are well suppressed. Only during rapid acceleration does the engine sound slightly penetrate the cabin, but it's not harsh. In addition, features such as electronic parking and hill start assist make daily driving more convenient.

Overall, the core advantage of the 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro lies in its "balance"—it not only boasts the luxurious interior quality and rich features of German models but also provides driving pleasure with the quattro four-wheel-drive system and robust power. At the same time, its space and practicality can also meet family needs. Compared with competitors in the same class like the BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class, its four-wheel-drive system is a unique selling point, and configurations such as the Bang & Olufsen sound system and fully digital instrument panel give it an edge in terms of technological sophistication.

This car is best suited for people who value both daily comfort and luxury while also occasionally wanting to experience driving excitement—such as professionals aged 30 to 40, or users who need to balance family and personal hobbies. If you are looking for a "versatile" D-segment sedan, the 2019 Audi A4 sport 2.0 TFSI quattro is a choice you can't go wrong with.

Pros
quattro four-wheel-drive system has strong grip, stable driving on waterlogged roads in heavy rain and slippery mountain roads
2.0T engine has sufficient low torque, smooth shifting with DCT, strong acceleration for overtaking, agile lane changing
B&O sound system provides excellent sound quality, enhancing driving experience during traffic jams or highway driving
Cons
The rear middle floor is raised high, making it slightly cramped for three passengers, and the space is smaller compared to the same C-Class
The front design is too low-key, lacks distinctiveness, and is easily mistaken for another car
The space-saving spare tire gives a lack of security during long trips, and tire noise is relatively obvious at high speeds

This A4 sport has been driven for more than two years. It's super stable when driving through waterlogged roads on rainy days, quattro is truly remarkable! During rush hours, it accelerates with power when overtaking, and listening to music with the B&O sound system while in traffic is fantastic. However, the rear middle floor is a bit high, making it slightly cramped for three people, but overall, I'm very satisfied.

Previously, I drove a Japanese family car. I decided to switch to this A4 Sport because I was totally captivated by the quattro and B&O sound system. During the morning rush hour around KLCC, the 2.0T low-end torque is more than adequate, and the DCT shifts smoothly. Zigzagging through traffic feels much more agile compared to my old car. On weekends driving up Genting Highlands, the quattro grip is exceptionally stable, making cornering very confidence-inspiring, though the raised middle bump in the rear seat can be a bit bothersome for legroom. The exterior design is impeccable, and the LED headlights have an extremely high level of recognition in Penang's evening drizzle, rivaling the attention paid to other BBA cars in the same price range. Fuel consumption occasionally goes up to 9L in city driving, but it can stay at 6.5L on the highway, which is still acceptable. The only minor drawback: the lack of a spare tire makes long trips a bit nerve-wracking, but roadside assistance in Malaysia is quick, so it's not a major issue.

The central control screen is really smooth, but the front face is way too "low-key." I almost couldn't recognize it was my own car when parked on the roadside!

Driving on mountain roads in heavy rain, this quattro's grip is really solid, giving it gas to overtake without any skidding!

Last Sunday, I took my family on a trip to the foot of Cloud Peak Mountain. On the way back, we encountered an afternoon thunderstorm. The mountain road was slippery and there was a bit of traffic. The LED headlights of the A4 cut through the rain very clearly, and the quattro all-wheel drive handled the corners very steadily without slipping. However, during low-speed following, the dual-clutch transmission had some jerkiness, so I’d deduct one point for performance. The 245/40 R18 tire noise is slightly noticeable at high speeds, but once the B&O sound system is on, it easily drowns it out. The exterior design is truly appealing; with the Sport package and 18-inch wheels, it achieved a super high turn-head rate at the scenic area parking lot — no flaws, full marks.
