In recent years, the competition in the compact luxury SUV market has become increasingly fierce. Consumers want both the practicality of an SUV and the dynamic exterior design, and coupe SUVs happen to fill this gap. The 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback public, as Audi's product in this segment, stands out by integrating the luxurious texture of the Q3 series with the sporty atmosphere of a coupe design, while also maintaining the practicality of SUV space. This test will be conducted from the dimensions of static design, space performance, and dynamic driving experience, providing comprehensive references for interested consumers.

In terms of exterior design, the Q3 Sportback public adopts Audi's iconic octagonal grille, paired with a blackened honeycomb mesh, giving the front a highly recognizable look. The side profile is the highlight of its design, with a sloping roofline that gradually descends from the B-pillar and seamlessly transitions to the D-pillar, giving it a sportier look compared to the traditional Q3. The 19-inch five-spoke alloy wheels feature a dual-color design, further enhancing the sporty vibe. At the rear, the LED tail light set, which stretches across the width of the car, illuminates distinctly, while the diffuser-style bumper with a dual-exit exhaust layout gives the overall look a youthful and dynamic feel. As for the lighting system, LED headlights and tail lights come standard across all trims, offering excellent lighting effects and visual identification at night.

Inside the car, the interior continues Audi's consistently refined style. The dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch materials, accented with silver trim, presenting a quality that aligns with the positioning of a luxury brand. The central console is equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen display, integrated with the MMI intelligent infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The system demonstrates smooth operation and good responsiveness. Additionally, the fully digital instrument cluster measures 12.3 inches and supports different display modes, showcasing navigation, vehicle status, and other information with strong practicality. The seats combine leather and Alcantara materials, offering excellent support, and the front seats feature electric adjustments and lumbar support, ensuring comfortable long-distance rides.

In terms of space performance, the dimensions of the new car are 4500mm×1840mm×1560mm, with a wheelbase of 2680mm. The front row offers ample seating space, and a person with a height of 175cm can adjust their seating position and still have a headroom space of a fist and two fingers. In the rear row, the sloping roofline does reduce headroom compared to the traditional Q3, but there is still a margin of about one fist, while legroom offers about two fists, making it sufficient for everyday family use. Regarding storage capability, the central armrest box and door panel storage compartments in the front row are moderately spacious. The rear row is equipped with a central armrest and cup holders, and the trunk has a standard capacity of 530L, which can be expanded to 1525L by folding down the rear seats, easily accommodating large suitcases or strollers, offering strong practicality. Additionally, the rear row is equipped with independent air vents and USB charging ports, showing attention to detail.

In terms of power, the Q3 Sportback public is equipped with a 1.4T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a peak torque of 250 Nm, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The driving modes include Comfort, Sport, and Economy. In Comfort mode, the power output is smooth, with no obvious jerks during startup and low-speed driving. Switching to Sport mode, the throttle response becomes more aggressive, providing a noticeable sense of acceleration and sufficient reserve power for overtaking. In actual tests, the 0-100km/h acceleration time is about 8.9 seconds, meeting the needs of daily commuting and occasional spirited driving.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the steering wheel is precise with minimal play. At low speeds, the steering is light, while at high speeds it becomes stable, providing a good driving feel. The chassis adopts a combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension, tuned to lean towards sportiness while also considering comfort. When passing speed bumps or rough roads, the suspension effectively filters out vibrations without a noticeable stiffness; during cornering, the body roll is well-controlled, offering good stability. Regarding fuel consumption, the combined fuel consumption under mixed driving conditions is about 7.2L per 100 kilometers, which is considered moderate for a compact SUV.

In terms of driving and ride comfort, the vehicle performs well in noise control, with wind and tire noise well suppressed during high-speed driving, ensuring conversations inside the cabin are not affected. The seats offer a good balance of support and wrapping, making long drives less tiring. Notably, the new car is equipped with features like automatic parking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist, enhancing daily driving convenience and safety.

Overall, the core advantage of the Q3 Sportback public lies in its integration of a sporty coupe-like design with the practical space of an SUV, while maintaining Audi's luxurious texture and technological configurations. Compared to competitors like the BMW X2 and Mercedes-Benz GLA in the same class, it offers superior space performance and richer configurations, providing outstanding value for money. This car is suitable for young consumers who value exterior design and pursue a luxury feel while also needing practical family space, especially for those who prefer a sporty style without compromising practicality.

In conclusion, the 2020 Audi Q3 Sportback public demonstrates a balanced performance in design, configuration, space, and driving experience, making it a worthy choice in the compact luxury coupe SUV market. It meets the needs of young users seeking individualized looks, while also addressing the space and practicality requirements for daily family use, making it a well-rounded option overall.

Last week, during heavy rain, I drove through a water-filled pothole. The car body felt as steady as if it were glued to the road, giving me a full sense of security!

This Q3 Sportback's coupe-like design is absolutely stunning! Every time I park it by the roadside, I can't help but look back at it; it's so cool it turns heads on the street!

Every morning during rush hour, weaving through traffic is effortless with the Q3 Sportback's responsive throttle, providing instant power and effortless overtaking. Squeezing three buddies in the backseat isn't cramped at all, and on weekends, taking the family up mountain roads feels incredibly stable around the bends. The only downside is that in summer, parking outdoors makes the seat scorchingly hot, so you need to turn on the air conditioning for two minutes first to cool it down. But this minor flaw doesn't overshadow its merits, does it?

Previously, the Japanese SUV I drove had ample space but always lacked a sense of refinement. After switching to the 2020 Q3 Sportback, I can't help but touch the piano lacquer panel every time I get inside. The virtual cockpit is super convenient for navigation during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour, eliminating the need to look down at my phone. In terms of performance, the 1.4T engine overtakes effortlessly on the North-South Expressway, and the throttle response in sport mode is very satisfying. The safety features are excellent; last time on Penang's mountain roads, the AEB system came to an automatic stop during an emergency, saving my life. A minor downside is that the rear middle floor bump is a bit high, making it slightly uncomfortable for the middle passenger when three people are seated. Taking the family to Genting Highlands on the weekend was a breeze — hill climbs were no issue, and overall, I'm very satisfied!

Last week, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Halfway there, a sudden rainstorm hit, and the wipers swiftly swept across the windshield, yet the car remained as steady as if glued to the wet asphalt. While waiting at a red light, I touched the Alcantara material of the steering wheel, which felt as delicate as holding a piece of warm jade. The virtual cockpit display on the central screen was astonishingly clear even in the rainy weather. In the rearview mirror, the curve outlined by the fastback silhouette in the rain streaks even caught the attention of a nearby motorcyclist—this design exudes a certain cold elegance in Malaysia's rainy days.
