As the demand for hybrid models in the Malaysian market continues to rise, vehicles in the A-Segment category that balance performance and fuel economy are attracting increasing attention. The 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T, as the hybrid model under the brand, focuses on the high efficiency of the 1.5L hybrid system, advanced smart features, and practical space within its compact body. The purpose of this test drive is to evaluate the actual performance of this vehicle in daily commutes and short family trips to see if it meets local consumers' demands for balanced functionality.

From the exterior, the overall design of the 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T leans towards a youthful and sporty style. The front features a large-sized blacked-out grille, complemented by sharp LED headlights, ensuring high recognition; the streamlined side profile, with a sloping roofline extending from the A-pillar to the rear, makes the compact body appear longer. At the rear, the through-type LED taillights have a clear visual effect when illuminated, and the dual exhaust layout emphasizes the sporty feel further. As for the lighting system, both the front and rear lights use LED sources, and their brightness and illumination range at night can meet daily needs.

Stepping inside, the interior adopts a minimalist T-shaped layout, with the center console slightly tilted towards the driver for easier operation. In terms of materials, the steering wheel and seats are covered with leather, which feels soft to the touch. The center console features a touchscreen of around 10 inches, with a clear interface layout and decent responsiveness. In terms of core features, basic configurations such as a reversing camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and CarPlay functionality are included, along with standard features like lane change assist, lane departure warning, and automatic parking, which are relatively rare in the same vehicle segment. These smart driving assistance features enhance convenience during daily driving.

In terms of space, the 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T has a body size of 4605mm×1878mm×1643mm, with a wheelbase of 2770mm. The headroom for the front driver and passenger seats is ample; a person standing 175cm tall can sit inside with about a fist's distance from the ceiling. The rear seat legroom is also noteworthy, with a person of the same height sitting in the back having about two fists of space between their knees and the front seat backrest. However, due to the sloping roof design, the rear headroom feels a bit tight, and taller passengers might find it slightly oppressive. Regarding storage capacity, the front central armrest box and door storage compartments are spacious enough for items like phones and water bottles. The trunk offers a capacity of 326L, which can fit two 20-inch suitcases, making it suitable for short trips. The rear seats also feature air-conditioning vents and USB charging ports for the convenience of rear passengers.

In terms of performance, the 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined maximum output of 191PS and mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. There are three selectable drive modes: Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Eco mode, the electric motor engages first during start-up, delivering smooth power output, ideal for daily city commutes. Switching to Standard mode, the engine and electric motor work together, providing quicker power response during acceleration. For overtaking, simply press the accelerator deeply, and the transmission downshifts promptly, delivering adequate power. In Sport mode, the throttle pedal becomes more responsive, and the power output is more direct, although engine noise becomes slightly more noticeable.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the steering wheel has moderate turning resistance with minimal free play. It feels lightweight during daily driving and automatically becomes heavier at high speeds, providing good stability. The chassis adopts a combination of front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension. When passing over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension can filter out most of the fine vibrations, and there is no noticeable bumpiness transmitted into the car. When cornering, the suspension offers sufficient support, with minimal body roll, maintaining good stability.

In terms of fuel efficiency, the official combined fuel consumption is 5.6L/100km. During the actual test drive, the fuel consumption in urban congestion is approximately 6.5L/100km, while on highways it can drop below 5L/100km. Overall, its fuel consumption performance is better than most fuel-powered vehicles in its class. Regarding braking performance, the brake pedal feels linear, with noticeable deceleration at the initial stage and steady braking force in the later stage. During emergency braking, the vehicle maintains a stable posture.

As for driving comfort, the noise control inside the vehicle is well-handled. At speeds below 60km/h, tire and wind noise are not evident. Once the speed exceeds 80km/h, wind noise gradually increases, but does not hinder normal conversations among passengers inside the car. The energy recovery system has two adjustable modes. In the low mode, the recovery feels gentle, similar to the coasting sensation of a fuel-powered car. In the high mode, the recovery force is somewhat stronger, and releasing the accelerator gives a noticeable dragging feeling, suitable for use in congested traffic to reduce braking frequency. The seats provide good support and wrapping, ensuring comfort even during long drives.

Overall, the core strengths of the 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T are its efficient hybrid system, rich intelligent features, and balanced spatial performance. Compared with competitors in the same segment, such as the Honda HR-V hybrid version, it offers more comprehensive intelligent driving assistance features and better pricing. Compared with the Toyota C-HR hybrid version, it has more practical spatial performance. This car is suitable for consumers who value fuel economy, enjoy intelligent features, and need to meet the requirements of daily family outings, especially young families with a budget of about 120,000-150,000 Malaysian Ringgit.

All in all, the 2019 Geely Xing Yue 300T is a well-balanced hybrid vehicle that strikes a good balance between power, fuel consumption, configuration, and space, meeting the daily needs of most local consumers. If you are looking for a hybrid SUV suitable for family commuting, this car is worth considering.

Last Saturday, I took my wife and child to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after exiting Kuala Lumpur, we encountered a heavy downpour. The windshield wipers were on the fastest setting, but I still couldn't see the road clearly. I glanced at the 10.25-inch central control screen and directly said, "Hello Geely, turn on the air conditioner to defog." In less than five seconds, the windows cleared up. This voice control is much faster than manual adjustments. The mountain road leading to the orchard was full of potholes. The 1.5T engine + 7DCT transmission had a quick power response, and the 2750mm wheelbase provided ample rear space. My child slept soundly in the car seat. My wife commented that the interior craftsmanship was better than her friend's CR-V, and the soft materials felt comfortable to the touch. When we were on our way back, it was getting dark, and the lane departure warning suddenly went off. It was then I realized I was about to cross the line. The safety features of this car are indeed impressive—automatic emergency braking and lane change assist are quite practical. In terms of fuel consumption, it's approximately 7.5L/100km in the city, and it can drop to around 6L on the highway, which is better than I expected. The only downside is that the rear middle floor hump is a bit high, so the person sitting in the middle might feel uncomfortable. However, overall, at a price of around 150,000 RMB, getting all these features certainly offers great value for money.

Last Saturday, I took my wife and kids to the orchard at the foot of Genting Hill to pick durians. Just as we left Kuala Lumpur city, we encountered rush hour traffic and were stuck for almost half an hour. This 1.5T three-cylinder engine paired with DCT occasionally jerks a bit during low-speed following, but the power is pretty strong when stepping on the accelerator hard to overtake, and 191 horsepower pulling a 1.6-ton body doesn't feel underpowered. The MacPherson front suspension absorbs shocks decently; going over potholes isn't too bumpy, and the kids in the back seat didn't complain. The coupe-style exterior design is quite sporty, but the paint is thin, and the car got scratched by a branch while parked under a tree. Comprehensive fuel consumption is 5.6L? With the air conditioning on and driving uphill, it’s more than 7L, but the hybrid technology does save fuel in city traffic jams. The automatic parking feature is pretty useful, but in narrow parking spaces, it requires some maneuvering. Overall, I’d give it 4 stars. There are no major problems, but some details could still be optimized.

Previously drove a Japanese A0-class small car, the power was as weak as a "Kancil climbing a slope". Switching to the Xingyue 400T feels like taking off directly! During the Jalan Ampang morning rush hour traffic jam, the 1.5T hybrid + DCT shifts super smoothly, following other cars without jerking. On weekends driving to Genting, the 259 horsepower climbed hills very stably, even more powerful than my friend's CR-V. The safety features are comprehensive, and the lane departure warning saved me from zoning out on the North-South Expressway. The interior soft touch materials feel high-quality, but the raised center in the rear seat is a bit uncomfortable for the feet; it’s perfect for seating 4 people (the specification stating 4 seats is indeed honest). Fuel consumption is 1.2L? On highways, it’s about 7L, and in the city, 10L, which is higher than the claims but acceptable. Overall, it's worth the price, truly showing that domestic cars stand out in Malaysia!

The earlier Japanese car I drove was as underpowered as a "Kancil climbing a hill," but switching to the Xingyue 300T was like taking off! The morning traffic jam in Kuala Lumpur felt like "queuing up at the market to buy nasi lemak," but the 1.5T+DCT powertrain responds instantly with every press, and overtaking and lane-changing are quicker than grabbing a parking space. On weekends, taking the family to Genting Highlands, the hybrid system switches seamlessly while climbing, and the fuel consumption is just over 6L, nearly 2L less than my friend's CR-V. The safety features are high-tech, and the lane departure warning on the highway saved me once when I got distracted. A small downside is the rear middle seat bulge, which is a bit high, so seating three people feels like "squeezing sardines"; it's fine for short trips but tiring for long ones. However, the 2770mm wheelbase is spacious enough, absolutely "sufficient" for daily use!

Previously owned a Japanese car with a very plastic-heavy interior, but switching to the Xingyue 350T was truly eye-opening—soft-touch materials and a touchscreen, a well-deserved 5/5! During the morning rush hour on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, the 238-horsepower DCT gearbox was silky smooth in stop-and-go traffic, much more agile than my friend's CR-V. On weekends, driving on the winding roads to Genting Highlands, the multi-link suspension provided stable support, and the car didn’t feel floaty when cornering. However, the 1670kg weight resulted in fuel consumption being 1 liter higher than the official 7.5L/100km when climbing up hills, which was a minor letdown. The automatic parking system saved me in a tight parking spot in the narrow streets of Penang, and the standard lane assistance was also very useful for rainy highway conditions. The 326L trunk is just right for two carry-on suitcases, but the rear seat center bump is a bit uncomfortable for legs. Overall, 4/5 for performance and 5/5 for the interior. Really great value when driving in Malaysia!
