The luxury electric vehicle market in Malaysia has been gradually heating up in recent years, and there has been a significant increase in demand among high-end consumers for the combination of "electrification and luxury experience." The 2025 Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS SUV 680 is precisely the flagship model aimed at this niche market. It not only continues the luxurious DNA of the Maybach brand but also incorporates Mercedes' latest electric technology. Its core selling points include a powerful 658PS output, luxurious rear independent dual-seat configuration, and an official range of over 600km – highlights enough to intrigue users who value status and technological experiences: can this million-dollar electric SUV truly balance performance and comfort? This article will provide a comprehensive analysis of its real-world performance through static experiences and dynamic test drives to offer potential buyers some valuable insights.

From the exterior, this car perfectly balances the futuristic appeal of an electric vehicle with the distinguished elegance of Maybach. The front features a closed-off design, complemented by an illuminated Maybach-exclusive vertical grille, making it highly recognizable; the three-dimensional tri-star badge on the hood connects with the sharp LED headlights on both sides, forming a continuous visual effect that is full of ceremony when lit up at night. The side profile presents smooth lines, with a 5125mm length paired with a 3210mm wheelbase, making it exceptionally elongated; the 21-inch multi-spoke wheels use exclusive polishing techniques, further enhancing the luxury appeal. The rear design is relatively simple, with continuous LED taillights featuring Maybach emblems inside, while a chrome trim under the rear bumper adds an extra touch of sophistication. The overall style is understatedly luxurious, catering to high-end users' expectation for "low-key opulence."

Sitting inside, the sense of luxury is overwhelming. The interior is dominated by Nappa leather and wood trim. Everywhere you can touch is wrapped in soft materials, offering a delicate texture. The center control area is equipped with a 17.7-inch OLED touchscreen, featuring high resolution and smooth operation. Together with the fully digital instrument cluster and HUD head-up display, it creates a strong sense of technology. But the core highlight remains the rear seats – the independent dual-seat design supports electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Each seat has its own armrest and control screen, allowing passengers to adjust the seat angle, rear air conditioning temperature, and even control the in-car entertainment system as needed. Additionally, the rear is equipped with a panoramic sunroof and sunshades. The Burmester 3D surround sound system with 15 speakers offers an immersive auditory experience, fully satisfying the needs of either business receptions or family travels.

In terms of space, the 3210mm wheelbase provides a spacious seating experience. The front driver’s seat supports multi-directional electric adjustment and memory functions, and with a passenger height of 180cm, there is ample headroom and legroom. The legroom for the rear independent seats exceeds two fists, ensuring long journeys are not cramped. In terms of storage, the trunk has a capacity of 440L, which is sufficient for storing several suitcases for daily use. Although the rear seats cannot be folded down, for a luxury SUV of this positioning, this storage space performance is adequate. For details, both the front and rear rows are equipped with USB-C charging ports and cup holders, while the front central armrest box also provides considerable internal space without compromising practicality.

During dynamic test drives, the power performance of this car is impressive. It is equipped with front and rear dual permanent magnet synchronous motors, with a system combined power of 484kW (658PS) and a peak torque of 955N·m. The official 0-100km/h acceleration takes only 4.4 seconds. When switched to sport mode, the starting response is very quick, and a strong sense of push-back is felt when the accelerator pedal is pressed deeply. Overtaking requires almost no waiting as power is available instantly. Even in comfort mode, the power output is sufficiently smooth, making it suitable for daily commuting. The steering feel is precise, with minimal play, and the steering wheel becomes stable at high speeds, giving a sense of confidence. The chassis adopts front and rear multi-link air suspension, which can automatically adjust the height based on road conditions. When going over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension filters out most of the vibrations, and passengers inside the car can hardly feel significant jolts. When cornering, the body roll is well-controlled, and coupled with the all-wheel drive system, the stability is excellent.

In terms of range and energy consumption, we tested it under mixed road conditions: 60% city roads and 40% highways, with air conditioning and audio system on throughout the journey. The final actual range was approximately 550km, achieving nearly 90% of the rated range, which outperforms many electric SUVs in the same class. The energy consumption was about 23kWh per 100km, slightly higher than the official figure of 21.7kWh, but considering the vehicle's weight exceeding 3 tons, this result is already commendable. As for fast charging, using a 150kW fast charging station to charge from 10% to 80% took only about 30 minutes, meeting the energy replenishment needs for long-distance travel. In addition, the noise control of the vehicle is excellent. At high speeds, both wind noise and tire noise are barely noticeable. Combined with the filtering effect of the air suspension, the overall ride comfort reaches the level expected of a million-level vehicle.

To sum up, the 2025 Maybach EQS SUV 680 has standout core advantages: firstly, the luxurious rear-seat configuration, with the combination of independent dual seats and a multifunction control screen, has almost no rival among electric SUVs in the same class. Secondly, there is strong power performance, with 4.4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h, which even surpasses some performance fuel cars. Thirdly, there is reliable range performance, and its actual range can meet the daily needs of most users. Compared with models in the same class, such as the BMW iX M60 or Audi e-tron GT quattro, its rear-seat luxury and brand premium are more pronounced, making it suitable for users with sufficient budgets who value status symbols and the comfort of riding—such as corporate executives, business professionals, or families pursuing high-quality lifestyles.

Overall, this car is a "luxury electric SUV with no obvious weaknesses." It not only satisfies the joy of driving with strong power but also takes care of passenger experience with luxurious rear seat configurations. At the same time, its range and charging performance can handle daily use. If you are looking for a million-level electric SUV that showcases status while balancing technology and comfort, the Maybach EQS SUV 680 is worth considering—it has proven with its performance that luxury in the electrification era can still be very "Maybach."

Excellent acceleration performance, noticeable thrust when stepping on the accelerator, 0-100 in 4.4 seconds, agile overtaking

This Maybach EQS SUV 680 really understands our daily needs! The air suspension filters out road bumps during commutes, and the massage function helps you relax even in traffic jams; the ventilated rear dual seats make it a mobile first-class cabin during hot weather, but the length of the car means finding parking spaces requires slower maneuvering sometimes.

This Maybach EQS 680 has been driven for three months, and the most surprising part is the ease during commuting — the air suspension smooths out bumps on congested roads, the Burmester sound system blocks out noise, and with the rear boss seat ventilation and massage turned on, even traffic jams have become enjoyable. Fast charging takes half an hour to fully replenish the battery, providing enough range for a week. The only minor regret is that the rear screen occasionally lags, but overall, it’s still worth the price.

Yesterday, I drove it through a flooded road on a stormy day, and the automatic hazard avoidance was so reliable! This safety feature was definitely worth adding.
