2025 BMW 1 Series F70 released, retaining 2.0L high-power turbo engine

BMW is set to introduce the fourth generation F70 1 Series. This compact luxury hatchback recently made its debut in Europe. The new 1 Series has dropped the "i" suffix, which will now be exclusively used for BMW's electric models. The newly released BMW 1 Series models are all equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to improve fuel economy.

Since its launch 20 years ago, more than three million BMW 1 Series cars have been sold. The new 1 Series continues to use the front/all-wheel drive platform of the new MINI Cooper, and will not return to the initial rear-wheel drive layout. The body length has increased by 42 millimeters to 4361 millimeters, and the height has increased by 25 millimeters to 1459 millimeters. The 2025 BMW 1 Series will offer gasoline and diesel powertrains, and will not share the body with electrified powertrains.
Power System

The new-generation BMW 1 Series offers a variety of power configurations, including gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a 48V mild hybrid system. Here are the power performances of a few key models:
- M135 xDrive: As the new flagship model, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with outputs of 221kW (300PS), and 400Nm of torque. Although its power is slightly lower than its predecessor M135i xDrive (225kW), it still maintains a strong performance, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 4.9 seconds, and a top speed of 250 km/h. The M135 xDrive also uses the Adaptive M chassis and intelligent all-wheel drive system for an excellent driving experience.
- BMW 120: It is equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine, and combined with a 48V mild hybrid system, the total power of the model is 125kW (170PS). Moreover, with a torque of 280Nm, and 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 7.8 seconds, its WLTP combined fuel consumption is only 5.3 litres/100 km.
- BMW 120d: It comes with a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, and is equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system. Its power is 120kW (163PS), and with a torque of 400Nm, an acceleration time of 7.9 seconds for 100 kilometers, its WLTP combined fuel consumption of 4.3 liters/100 kilometers.
All models come standard with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to improve fuel economy and smooth gear shifting.
Exterior Design

The new BMW 1 Series continues the classic BMW design language, but with details optimized:
The dynamic front face design: The low front face and large front air intake make the vehicle look more sporty. And the standard LED headlight uses a unique vertical daytime running light and turn signal light design, increasing the visual identification.

Body lines: The side design uses a dynamic wedge-shaped profile and slender roof lines. And the rear is equipped with a long tail wing and side deflectors, further enhancing the vehicle's sporty characteristics.

Body color: The new 1 Series offers two solid colors and seven metallic paint colors to choose from, in addition, there are four BMW Inpidual personalized colors and a variety of specially customized colors. The new 1 Series also offers a contrasting-color roof option for the first time, and the glossy black roof further enhances the sporty feel.
Interior

The 2025 BMW 1 Series has made significant improvements in interior design, and it pays more attention to space utilization and material selection. Following are its main features:
Larger internal space: The new 1 Series is 42mm (4361mm) longer and 25mm (1459mm) taller than the previous generation, and it provides more spacious rear leg space and easier door opening and closing.

Advanced technology configuration: The new 1 Series is equipped with a curved digital display screen, including a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 10.7-inch multimedia display screen, and it also supports wireless software updates and intelligent voice control. In addition, BMW has introduced the "QuickSelect" function that allows users to quickly access various functions via touch or voice.
Luxury optional package: Available luxury packages include sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system and adaptive LED headlights, etc.
Smart Configuration

The 2025 BMW 1 Series has been significantly upgraded in terms of driver assistance and parking systems, providing a more intelligent and safe driving experience:
Driver Assistance System: Standard equipment includes front collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, and parking assistance system. The optional professional version of the driving assistance system provides steering and lane control assistance, automatic speed limit assistance, and active cruise control system with stop and go function.
Automatic Parking System: With the Professional parking assistance, drivers can use their smartphones to control complex parking operations, and the vehicle can store and automatically execute parking trajectories of up to 200 meters.

Body Rigidity: The rigidity of the body structure and the connection to the chassis have been further improved, and the offset angle of the front wheels has increased by 20%, which ensures more stable straight-line driving and better steering feedback.

Adaptive Suspension: The optional M Sports Package includes Adaptive M Suspension which lowers the body height and comes with sport steering and 18-inch alloy wheels. And 19-inch wheels and an M Sports braking system can also be equipped as optional equipment.
