Brand new hybrid system, range over 1000km! New model Subaru Crosstrek coming in December!

On October 17th, Subaru announced the launch of its next-generation hybrid system, which will first be equipped on the Subaru Crosstrek (Japanese model) and is planned to be launched in December 2024, with a possible global launch next year. According to the official description, the system aims to strike a balance between driving pleasure and environmental protection.
The new generation of Subaru hybrid vehicle is equipped with a newly developed 2.5L horizontally-opposed engine, matched with a high-efficiency transmission, providing a maximum power output of 158 PS and 209N·m, and uses a flexible series-parallel hybrid system, which can intelligently switch the engine and motor.
Subaru's compact horizontally-opposed engine layout can provide space for high-voltage batteries and large-capacity fuel tanks. Thanks to the efficient hybrid system and an enlarged 63L fuel tank, the new car achieves a driving range of over 1000 km (WLTC), setting a new record for the Subaru brand. It's worth mentioning that Subaru is currently the only mass-market brand that manufactures horizontally opposed engines.
