【PCauto】Honda's joint venture in China, GAC Honda, is preparing to submit an application to the government for the registration of the new Fit on the local market. As a popular model in the small-size fuel vehicle market, Fit’s focuses on front fascia redesign and increased body length

Photos show that the new Fit adopts a split-headlight design. The upper lights are designed by a black trim strip across the front, with slim design that looks sharp.

The lower headlights are not large, and the design style is quite novel. The lower surround adopts a trapezoidal design, with both sides that resemble saber-toothed teeth, adding a sporty feeling to the vehicle.

The rear end features minimal changes, retaining the large polygonal taillights and hidden exhaust. The updated rear bumper now incorporates horizontal crease lines, while black scuff guards enhance its urban commuter practicality.

The length, width, and height of the new Fit are 4169 mm, 1694 mm, and 1537 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2530 mm. Compared with the current model, the length of new Fit's wheelbase remains unchanged, while the body length is increased, which can further expand the vehicle's space.

As for the powertrain, the new Fit will be equipped with the L15CC 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, with a maximum power of 91kW. Paired with a CVT transmission, it achieves a WLTC-rated fuel consumption of 5.3L/100km - a decrease of 0.1L from the current model.

The engine of new Fit adopts i-VTEC technology, which can output a peak torque of 145N·m at 4500rpm, and its low-speed high-torque characteristics are suitable for urban road conditions.

Application information shows that the new fit retains the equipment of 15-inch dual five-spoke wheels, tires specifications remain at 185/60 R15, and have not been upgraded to 16-inch sports wheels in other country's markets.

According to the application information, the new Fit has further strengthened its youthful and sporty visual features through design adjustments while maintaining its core product strengths.

However, its exterior design has also triggered heated discussions among consumers, some of whom outspokenly state that the design style has lost the unique personality of Fit and looks more like a low-cost vehicle for the elderly to drive.
