【PCauto】The MGS5 EV has just been launched in Malaysia, and some consumers may find it unfamiliar or even question the brand's safety. However, the recent five-star safety rating awarded by Euro NCAP serves as strong validation, increasing its popularity among consumers.

Euro NCAP ratings have long been regarded as an authoritative benchmark for vehicle safety.
In terms of overall performance, the MGS5 EV achieved high scores:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 90%
- Child Occupant Protection: 82%
- Vulnerable Road User Protection: 82%
- Safety Assist Systems: 78%
Such comprehensive and outstanding performance helped it acquire the five-star safety rating.
In adult occupant protection, the MGS5 EV maintained a stable passenger compartment during the frontal offset test, providing excellent protection for the driver and front passenger's knees and femurs. During side impact tests, it demonstrated good protection for all critical body areas.

MGS5 EV also performs well in child protection. Both 6-year and 10-year-old child dummies received good protection in frontal and side collision tests. Additionally, the front passenger airbag can be deactivated to accommodate rear-facing child seat installation.

For vulnerable road users, the MGS5 EV also performs exceptionally well. Although some weak protection areas exist (such as around the windshield pillars), it generally provides good protection for pedestrians' and cyclists' heads, pelvises, and femurs.
Moreover, the MGS5 EV's Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system responds effectively to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, capable of preventing or mitigating collision impacts in critical situations.

The safety assistance technologies of the MGS5 EV are equally noteworthy. It is equipped with the MG Pilot Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes functions like collision avoidance, lane safety, cruise control, along with practical features like autonomous emergency braking and blind spot detection.

Additionally, it adopts Continental's integrated brake booster system, equipped with large-sized brake discs (321mm front / 300mm rear), achieving a braking distance of just 35.5 meters from 100km/h to complete stop. This outstanding braking performance further enhances the vehicle's safety.

The MGS5 EV's excellent performance has earned high recognition from the automotive industry. Euro NCAP Program Director Aled Williams praised its exceptional performance in occupant and road user protection. It is worth mentioning that this is the third MG brand model receiving a Euro NCAP 5-starrating, following MG HS and MG4 EV also received this rating for their excellent safety performance. MG4 EV additionally received the highest rating from Green NCAP, fully demonstrating MG’s solid foundation and continuous innovation in safety R&D.

MGS5 EV's outstanding safety performance owes to its advanced technological platform. Developed on the Scalable Modular Platform, adopting ultra-thin battery technology and sophisticated ADAS systems, its fundamental architecture and core technologies collectively ensure its comprehensive safety performance.
