Peugeot 408 Facelift Debuts
Comprehensive Upgrade for Exterior and Interior
Three Types of Powertrains Released Simultaneously
【PCauto】Peugeot 408 first debuted in 2022 with a unique design, appearing more like a crossover coupe rather than an ordinary sedan. The facelift includes upgrades in both appearance and powertrains, with targeted adjustments for different market demands.

At first glance, the changes to the front are particularly striking. The original standalone daytime running lights have been removed and replaced by a triple-claw design integrated into the headlights, consistent with the new Peugeot 308. The split-headlight layout is retained, giving the front a sharper and more dynamic appearance.
Meanwhile, the grille and front bumper feature a three-dimensional sculpted design language, complemented by glossy black decorative details, further enhancing the car's sense of technology and sporty appeal.

The upgrades to the rear of the car are equally noteworthy. The new car is equipped with illuminated PEUGEOT lettering for the first time, marking the debut of this design element in the Peugeot model lineup. In addition, the car introduces a new paint color called Flare Green, offering more choices for consumers seeking individuality.
In the interior, the new car continues to use the iconic i-Cockpit design. Its core 10-inch central control screen has been upgraded, with the newly added 3D effect interface taking the sense of technology to a higher level. Fabric trim has been introduced to enrich the visual layers inside the cabin, and the high-end versions offer two material options: Alcantara or Nappa leather, to meet the texture preferences of different users.
The sound system has also been refreshed, featuring the Focal 10-speaker system equipped with aluminum tweeters and a 690-watt amplifier, providing a more immersive auditory experience for passengers. These meticulously refined details enhance the overall premium feel of the car's interior.

Compared to the refreshed exterior and interior, the new car's powertrain options deserve more attention. For the European market, the brand's fully electrified strategy is fully implemented in this model, offering hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric versions.
- The hybrid version is equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that produces a maximum output of 145 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The official fuel consumption is as low as 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers. In urban driving conditions, about half of the journey can be powered by electric mode;
- The plug-in hybrid version combines a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor for a total output of 240 horsepower. It offers a pure electric range of 85 kilometers and can be fully charged in just about 2 hours in fast charging mode;
- The pure electric version is equipped with a single motor that delivers 213 horsepower, along with a 58.2 kWh battery pack, providing a range of up to 456 kilometers. It also supports external power output and plug-and-play charging functionality, significantly improving daily usability.
For the Malaysian market, the new car continues to offer a fuel-powered version, equipped with a 1.6T engine that provides a maximum power output of 218 horsepower and a peak torque of 300 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Such market differentiation is likely based on the current lack of adequate charging infrastructure in the area, as the widespread adoption of electric vehicles requires time for the establishment of supporting facilities.

Finally, let's take a look at the performance of the Peugeot 408 in the European market, which is also worth the attention of Southeast Asian consumers.
In Europe, the Peugeot 408 achieved its expected sales volume in 2025 thanks to its crossover coupe design, demonstrating Peugeot's product strength and ability to adapt to market trends.
For local consumers in Southeast Asia, the feedback from the European market has two main reference points:
- First, in terms of design, the Southeast Asian audience recognizes Peugeot 408's French-inspired fluid lines, sporty stance, and i-Cockpit cabin design;
- Second, in terms of technology, the introduction of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and pure electric power options has been tested in the European market, proving that the vehicle's power tuning and durability performance can gain the approval of Southeast Asians.

Therefore, it is not difficult to see that every upgrade in this redesign of the Peugeot 408 aligns with the core market demands. Coupled with a comprehensive refresh of its design and interior, the product competitiveness of this crossover coupe has been further enhanced.
