Recently, Frank Van Meel, the head of BMW's M division, confirmed in an interview with the media that the all-new BMW M3 will retain a 3.0T inline six-cylinder engine and introduce a pure electric version, but no power data has been revealed yet. The launch of the new BMW M3 still needs to wait. It's expected that BMW will launch its first model of the Neue Klasse platform in 2025, and the pure electric BMW M3 is expected to be released in 2027 at the earliest.

It is reported that BMW is currently striving to cope with the upcoming Euro 7 emission regulations. This regulation aims to restrict pollutant emissions from vehicles sold in the European Union. The standards specify the type of approval requirements from three aspects: vehicles, braking systems, and tires. Many BMW M3 owners are worried that the next-generation sports sedan will only offer electric functions. To this end, BMW stated that if consumers still have a high demand for six-cylinder internal combustion engines, they will try to keep them as much as possible.

Despite the certainty of retaining the internal combustion engine for the BMW M3, it's uncertain whether the car will be set as a hybrid vehicle. Because referring to the modification direction of the new BMW M5, if the new BMW M3 is equipped with a hybrid power system, we will not be surprised.

The current BMW M3 is equipped with a 3.0T twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 375 kilowatts (510 horsepower). The transmission system is equipped with an 8-speed M Steptronic gearbox. The Neue Klasse platform can provide a 4-motor drive system, and its total power can reach 1341 horsepower.
