2019 Audi A6 3.0 TFSI Quattro Review

The Malaysian executive sedan market has always been a battleground for luxury brands. Consumers value not only brand heritage but also have stringent demands for configuration, space, and driving quality. The 2019 Audi A6 3.0 TFSI Quattro, as a key player in this segment, features a 340PS turbocharged engine, quattro all-wheel-drive system, and a wealth of intelligent features. Through this test drive, we aim to evaluate whether it can balance both "luxury" and "practicality".
In terms of exterior design, the 2019 A6 continues Audi's steady and mature family style while incorporating more dynamic details. The front end features a large hexagonal intake grille accented with horizontal chrome strips, delivering high recognizability; the sharply styled LED headlight assemblies, with standard slim daytime running lights, offer a refined visual effect when lit up. The car sides exhibit smooth lines, with a body length of 4939mm and a wheelbase of 2924mm providing sleek proportions. The 255/40 R20 tire specifications further enhance the athletic feel. The rear design is simple, with the LED taillight assemblies echoing the headlights, while the dual exhaust layout subtly hints at its powerful performance. Overall, the car preserves the elegance of an executive sedan while appealing to a younger audience through its detailed design.
Stepping inside, the interior exudes a strong sense of luxury and technology. The center console adopts a layered design, with an 8.6-inch touchscreen placed in the middle, offering smooth operation and supporting multiple functions. Below this, some physical buttons are retained for ease of use without looking. In terms of materials, the interior is largely covered in soft-touch surfaces, complemented by metallic trims and wood-textured accents, delivering excellent tactility. In terms of features, the car comes standard with a head-up display, a 16-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear climate control, power-adjustable front seats with driver memory functionality, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats, ensuring both seating comfort and versatile storage. As for space, the 2924mm wheelbase provides ample rear legroom; passengers up to 180cm tall will still have around two fists of legroom, and headroom isn't constrained either. The boot offers 530 liters of storage capacity, easily accommodating daily luggage or larger items.
In terms of driving performance, the 3.0T turbocharged engine delivers a maximum output of 340PS and a peak torque that consistently operates between 1370 and 4500rpm. Paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, power response is exceptionally rapid. With a light press of the accelerator at startup, the car provides a noticeable push-back sensation. The officially claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time is just 5.1 seconds. When overtaking, pressing the accelerator deeply prompts the gearbox to downshift proactively, delivering power instantaneously. The chassis employs multi-link suspension at both the front and rear, tuned for comfort. It effectively absorbs vibrations on speed bumps or uneven roads while maintaining body stability. When cornering, the quattro all-wheel-drive system ensures ample grip, the steering wheel provides precise feedback, and body roll is well-controlled, inspiring sufficient confidence. As for fuel consumption, the officially rated combined fuel consumption is 7.2L/100km. During city driving conditions, real-world consumption is about 9L/100km, while on highways it can drop to around 7L/100km, which is commendable for a 3.0T vehicle.
In terms of driving comfort, the cabin has excellent sound insulation, with wind noise and tire noise well controlled during high-speed driving; the seats offer moderate wrapping and support, ensuring no fatigue even during long periods of sitting. In addition, the new car also comes standard with safety features such as lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning, further enhancing driving safety.
Overall, the 2019 Audi A6 3.0 TFSI Quattro excels in luxury, performance, and features. Compared to its counterparts like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, it offers better performance metrics and is also more cost-effective (RM 603,172). This car is suitable not only for users who value a professional business image but also for families seeking space and comfort. If you're looking for an executive sedan that balances performance and luxury, it's worth considering.
