Last Wednesday after work, I ran into a heavy rainstorm, and that mountain road in the outskirts of New Mountain turned into a parking lot again. The M4's LED headlights were strong enough to penetrate the rain and fog, and the adaptive wipers worked perfectly, but the rear-wheel drive paired with 275 wide tires still felt a bit "jumpy" on the slippery road — as soon as I gave it some gas, the front wheels started to slip slightly, so I quickly switched to Sport+ mode to stabilize. But honestly, at times like this, playing music through Harman Kardon's 16 speakers does help ease the frustration a bit. No complaints about the safety features — the six airbags and the stability control system are a reassuring presence in this kind of weather. However, the 8.8-inch central control screen reflects quite a bit of light in heavy rain, so I had to lean closer to see the navigation clearly.

After work, caught in Kuala Lumpur's torrential rain and traffic jam, the M4's DCT shifts seamlessly as if it has no temper. However, the 255/35 thin tires rolling over water puddles made the steering wheel shake so much that my palms were sweaty—this performance can make you scream with excitement on mountain roads, but commuting in the rain feels like walking a tightrope. The 16 Harman Kardon speakers filter out the sound of the rain cleanly, and the leather seats wrap around your waist, so it doesn't feel tiring. But this fastback design means that a 175cm friend in the back seat has to curl up their legs, and fitting a baby stroller into the 445L trunk takes some effort. While it looks great, its practicality leaves something to be desired.

Last week, during a heavy rainstorm, I took my family up the mountain. Halfway through, we encountered falling rocks. The M4's stability control system intervened instantly, and the steering wheel felt as steady as if it was welded to my hands. The 6 airbags also gave me peace of mind—but without the 360-degree cameras, I had to stick my head out to check while passing other cars on narrow roads. Deducting 4 points for safety is fair. The DCT gearbox downshifted crisply in the mountain road corners, and the 437 horsepower delivered a push-back feeling straight to the head. However, the rear-wheel drive requires careful throttling in rainy weather, so deducting 1 point for performance is just to avoid being too wild. Still, listening to music on the Harman Kardon system in the tunnel, with the leather seats hugging the waist, makes the interior a solid 5 points.
