In today's luxury mid-to-large-size SUV market, competition is becoming increasingly fierce. Consumers not only pursue strong performance but also value a luxurious and comfortable driving experience. As the performance flagship SUV under the Aston Martin brand, the DBX 707 cuts into the market with its ferocious 707 horsepower output and million-level luxury specifications, naturally becoming the center of attention. This test drive focuses on its design, space, power, and daily practicality to see if this "performance beast" can meet the multi-scenario needs of a luxury SUV.

In terms of appearance, the DBX 707 continues Aston Martin's family design language but shows more aggressiveness in the details. The front features a large-sized air intake grille combined with vertical slats in a blacked-out treatment. The sharp-shaped LED headlights on both sides correspond with the sporty bumper below, creating a highly impactful visual experience. The body side lines are smooth, with large 40:22 sized wheels paired with red brake calipers that further enhance its performance attributes. The waistline extends from the front fender to the rear of the vehicle, exuding muscularity. At the rear, the spoiler and the quad-exit exhaust layout enhance the sporty ambiance, while the LED taillights feature a through-type design that has high recognition when illuminated. The overall design maintains the elegance of a luxury SUV while incorporating the aggressive elements of a performance vehicle.

Inside the cabin, the materials mainly consist of genuine leather, Alcantara, and metal accents, giving an excellent tactile quality. The center console layout is simple, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen centrally placed. The interface operates relatively smoothly, supporting features such as Bluetooth and CarPlay. Below it, some physical buttons are retained for easier blind operation. The 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster has clear displays and supports multiple theme modes. The HUD system can project real-time information such as speed and navigation, improving driving convenience. The steering wheel adopts a three-spoke design wrapped in leather, offering a delicate touch, and features gear-shift paddles on both sides, with driving mode selection buttons located at the rear. Regarding the seats, the front seats offer 12-way electric adjustment with heating functionality and excellent wrapping. The rear seats support a 60:40 split fold. The seating space is spacious; a passenger with a height of 180 cm can sit with a head and legroom of more than one fist length. Storage space performance is moderate; the central armrest box and door panel storage compartments provide ample capacity. The trunk has a standard capacity suitable for daily use, which can be further expanded by folding down the rear seats.

The powertrain is the core highlight of the DBX 707. It is equipped with a 4.0T twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers a maximum power of 707 horsepower and a peak torque of 900 Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration takes only 3.3 seconds, and it reaches a top speed of 310 km/h. In actual driving, switching to Sport mode makes the throttle response extremely sharp, with an intense sense of acceleration at startup that leaves a deep impression. Mid-range acceleration is equally outstanding; when overtaking, a deep press of the throttle prompts the transmission to downshift quickly, delivering power on demand. For daily driving, choosing Comfort mode makes power output smoother, perfectly suited for city commutes. As for the chassis, the front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspensions are tuned on the firmer side. When passing speed bumps or bumpy roads, vibrations are not completely filtered, but the suspension delivers excellent support. The vehicle excels in cornering as body roll is well-controlled, with handling performance standing out among SUVs in its class.

In terms of fuel consumption, as a performance-oriented SUV, the DBX 707 has a combined fuel consumption of approximately 13.5L/100km. In congested urban conditions, it may rise to around 16L, while during highway cruising, it can drop to about 11L, which aligns with its power positioning. The braking system performs excellently, with rapid braking response and no significant thermal decay observed during continuous braking. As for noise control, wind and tire noise become somewhat noticeable at high speeds but remain within acceptable limits. The engine noise is deliberately amplified in sport mode to enhance the driving atmosphere.

Overall, the Aston Martin DBX 707 is a flagship SUV that perfectly integrates performance and luxury. Its ferocious power of 707 horsepower and precise handling give it a leading edge in performance compared to its peers. Meanwhile, the luxurious interior materials, spacious cabin, and abundant features cater to daily usage needs. Compared to its rivals in the same class, it boasts significant performance advantages, although its price point is relatively high. This vehicle is more suitable for consumers who pursue extreme performance and a luxurious experience. Whether for urban commuting or occasional track outings, it can handle both with ease. If you are looking for a luxury SUV that showcases status and delivers driving excitement, the DBX 707 is undoubtedly an incredibly attractive choice.

Last Saturday, I took my family to Genting Highlands. While climbing the slope in heavy rain, the DBX 707's four-wheel-drive system was very stable, but the sudden intervention of the automatic braking system was a bit abrupt. The safety features were comprehensive, but the sensitivity needs adjustment, so a 4-star rating seems reasonable. The pushback feeling from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds made overtaking on mountain roads very confident, though the DCT occasionally had jerks at low speeds, hence 1 point deducted for performance. The 12-way adjustable leather seats and the 3-zone air conditioning ensured the kids in the back wouldn't complain about the heat, a well-deserved 5 stars for the interior. The only regret was the slight bumpiness of the 22-inch tires on rough roads, but overall, it's worth the RM 1.098 million price tag.

Brothers, let me share my DBX 707: never afraid to overtake during morning rush hour, instantly pulls away on the highway with just one press of the accelerator, but the fuel consumption in city stop-and-go traffic can be a bit painful. Three big guys in the back seat won't feel cramped, the panoramic sunroof is breathable, the safety features are maxed out, but you need to be careful finding a parking spot since it's quite big.

Every day, seeing the fuel consumption of this V8 engine during traffic jams feels a bit painful, but when the light turns green, the thrust from flooring the gas pedal instantly sweeps away all the irritability! The back row can fit three friends comfortably for some mountain driving without feeling cramped, but finding a parking space big enough for it takes circling around three times…

During the morning rush hour, a quick acceleration onto the overtaking lane delivers a 0-100 km/h thrust in just 3.3 seconds, easily leaving traffic congestion behind. Even with three buddies sitting in the back, it doesn't feel cramped. However, the safety features are missing a 360-degree panoramic view, so you need to be cautious when reversing in the rain. But with this interior and performance, it's worth it!

During the morning rush hour, when overtaking those snail-speed vehicles, one push of the pedal gives such a thrust that I'm pinned directly to the seat—overtaking has never felt so exhilarating! Even with three big guys filling the back seat, it's not cramped at all. But the 13.5 fuel consumption is a bit of a sting, as every refueling requires me to take a deep breath... still, considering its 0-100km/h acceleration in 3 seconds, I’ll live with it!
