2025 BYD Seal 6 Premium Review

Nowadays, competition in Malaysia's C-segment pure electric sedan market is becoming increasingly intense. Consumers value the balance between range and performance, and they also have higher demands for intelligent configurations and practicality in space. As a key model in this segment for the brand, the 2025 BYD Seal 6 Premium highlights its core selling points of an official range of 485km, 218PS front-drive motor, and standard L2-level assisted driving system across its lineup. Can it stand out in the same price range? In this test drive, we will focus on verifying its static quality, dynamic driving performance, and practicality for daily use to provide a reference for potential buyers.
From the exterior, the Seal 6 Premium adopts a smooth coupe-style design. The front features a closed grille accompanied by sharp LED headlights on both sides, offering high visual recognition. The side profile is defined by lines that stretch from the front to the rear, with a slightly upward-sloping waistline at the doors. Paired with 18-inch wheels, it creates a sporty and low stance. At the rear, the standout design feature is the full-width LED taillight, which delivers strong visual recognition when lit. The rear diffuser-style design enhances its sporty character. The vehicle's lighting system fully uses LED light sources, and the addition of automatic headlights and daytime running lights increases everyday utility.
Inside the cabin, the interior uses dark tones as the main theme. The dashboard is wrapped in soft materials, accented with metal strips for a refined overall feel that aligns with its price positioning. The centerpiece is a 12.8-inch rotatable floating center console screen, boasting high resolution and adaptive rotation functionality, offering fluent day-to-day operations. The fully digital instrument cluster displays abundant information, presenting real-time data on range, speed, and driving assistance status. Regarding features, the front row is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, and the driver's seat supports 8-way electric adjustments, while the front passenger seat offers 4-way electric adjustments. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60/40 split, further expanding storage options. Additionally, a fixed panoramic sunroof and sunshade are standard across the lineup, enhancing interior lighting.
In terms of space performance, the Seal 6 Premium boasts a 2820mm wheelbase. A passenger with a height of 175cm sitting in the front seat would have approximately one fist and two fingers of headroom remaining; keeping the front seat unchanged, the rear legroom can reach two fists, with one fist of headroom left, which is adequate for daily family use. Regarding storage capacity, the front central armrest box and door storage compartments are moderately sized. The rear central armrest is equipped with cup holders, and the trunk's standard capacity can accommodate 2-3 20-inch suitcases. By folding the rear seats, longer items can be stored. The cabin also features multiple USB charging ports for front and rear passengers to conveniently use electronic devices.
For dynamic driving, the Seal 6 Premium is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum output of 160kW (218PS) and peak torque of 330N·m. Its official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 7.5 seconds. During actual driving, the power response in the starting phase is swift, providing a noticeable pushback sensation with light accelerator input. The mid-to-high-speed acceleration remains stable, and pressing the accelerator hard during overtaking offers sufficient power reserves. The driving modes include Eco, Normal, and Sport, each delivering distinctly different power outputs, with Sport mode offering a more responsive throttle.
In terms of handling, the vehicle adopts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension combination, with a chassis tuning that leans toward comfort. When driving on smooth roads, the suspension effectively filters out small bumps; when passing over speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension handles vibrations softly without transmitting excessive harsh impacts. The steering wheel has a moderate weight with precise directional control. At high speeds, the steering wheel maintains good stability, and body roll is kept within a reasonable range during cornering.
During range and energy consumption testing, we drove roughly 50% of the distance in urban traffic and 50% on highways, with the air conditioning and driver assistance systems on the entire time. The actual range was approximately 420 km, achieving about 86.6% of the rated range, which meets expectations. Energy consumption was about 13.5 kWh per 100 km, placing it in the upper-middle range among vehicles of the same class. In terms of braking, the brake pedal provides a linear feel, and the vehicle maintains a stable posture during emergency braking, with braking distances meeting family car standards.
In terms of driving and riding comfort, the vehicle effectively controls tire and wind noise, so it does not interfere with normal conversation during high-speed driving. The energy recovery system provides three adjustable levels: the low mode offers weak recovery, resembling the driving feel of fuel cars; the high mode significantly slows the vehicle, reducing the frequency of brake use. The seat cushioning offers moderate softness, making it less likely to cause fatigue during long trips. The addition of rear air conditioning vents also enhances the comfort of rear-seat passengers.
Overall, the core strengths of the 2025 BYD Seal 6 Premium lie in its balanced performance: standard features across the lineup include L2-level driver assistance, a rotatable central control screen, and electric seats, making it highly competitive among C-class electric sedans in this price range. The official range of 485 km and an attainment rate of about 86% can satisfy daily commuting and short trips. The 2820 mm wheelbase provides a spacious rear seat, suitable for family users. Compared to competitors in its class, it has a clear price advantage and higher configuration levels.
This car is more suitable for family users who value cost-effectiveness and features, as well as commuters with long daily driving distances. It can meet the needs of daily city driving while also being suitable for weekend family outings. If you are looking for an electric sedan with rich features, practical space, and stable range performance, the Seal 6 Premium is worth considering.
