Audi A7 Sportback 2015 Review

In recent years, there have been more and more options in the luxury four-door coupe market, but it's not common to find a model that perfectly combines the streamlined design of a sporty coupe with practical space. The 2015 Audi A7 Sportback public is a representative of this kind of “all-rounder,” garnering significant attention for its fastback design and luxurious features. This time, we got our hands on the real car and focused on testing its static quality and dynamic performance to see if this car can truly balance aesthetics and practicality in daily use.
Let’s start with the exterior. The overall style of the 2015 A7 Sportback public leans towards understated elegance while maintaining the dynamic feel of a coupe. The front end features Audi’s signature hexagonal grille paired with LED daytime running lights, which are highly recognizable. The car’s side profile is its most eye-catching part, with a smooth and natural fastback line extending from the A-pillar to the rear without abrupt transitions. The 19-inch multi-spoke wheels further enhance its sporty feel. The rear design is simple, with LED tail lights featuring a flowing lighting effect, and a small spoiler on the trunk lid that automatically deploys at high speeds, adding a touch of refinement. The entire exterior isn’t overly exaggerated, but each design element is well-coordinated, making it a “more appealing the longer you look” type of car.
Sitting inside, the luxurious feel is immediately apparent. The dashboard adopts a layered design, with the top layer wrapped in soft-touch materials, the middle featuring metallic trims, and the bottom layer in piano black finish, all of which offer great tactile and visual appeal. The 10.1-inch central touchscreen is the core of the interior, equipped with the MMI infotainment system supporting CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and its operation is reasonably smooth. The seats are wrapped in genuine leather, with the front seats offering electric adjustment and heating functions, including adjustable lumbar support, ensuring comfort even on long drives. The rear row is notable as well, with independent air conditioning vents and two USB charging ports, providing good convenience for rear passengers.
In terms of space performance, the car’s dimensions are 4969mm×1911mm×1420mm, with a wheelbase of 2914mm. When the front seats are adjusted to a comfortable driving position, a passenger with a height of 180cm still has a fist’s worth of headroom; the rear legroom is around two fists, with the fastback design slightly compressing headroom, but it still offers about four fingers’ space, so it does not feel cramped. The trunk has a standard capacity of 535L and supports split-folding rear seats, which expand the capacity to 1390L when folded down, making it easy to fit several large suitcases. It meets the needs of daily household use or short trips.
Regarding power, the 2015 A7 Sportback public is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 185kW (252hp) and a maximum torque of 370N·m, paired with a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. During actual driving, the power response at the start is linear without a noticeable turbo lag; mid-to-high-end acceleration is strong, and when you press the accelerator hard, the gearbox shifts quickly, making overtaking smooth. When switched to sport mode, the throttle sensitivity increases, the engine RPM stays higher, and the power delivery becomes more direct. In terms of fuel consumption, actual tests on mixed road conditions showed an average of 8.5L per 100km, and it can drop to around 7L per 100km on highways. For this class of vehicle, the fuel economy is considered average.
The handling and chassis performance are also worth mentioning. The steering wheel is precise with minimal free play; it feels light at low speeds and becomes heavier at high speeds, giving sufficient confidence. The suspension system adopts a front five-link and rear trapezoidal linkage structure, with tuning focused on comfort while retaining some level of support. When passing over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension effectively filters vibrations without a noticeable jolting feeling. During cornering, body roll is well-controlled, and the suspension holds the car stable. In terms of noise control, the cabin remains very quiet at low speeds. At high speeds, wind and tire noise increase slightly but remain within an acceptable range, so they won’t affect normal conversations.
In the performance tests, the 0-100 km/h acceleration was approximately 6.3 seconds, and the braking distance was 38.5 meters, which meets expectations. We also tested its high-speed stability, and at a speed of 120 km/h, the body does not feel floaty, and the steering remains steady, providing sufficient sense of security. As a coupe, its chassis tuning strikes a balance between comfort and sportiness, making it suitable for daily commuting as well as occasional spirited driving.
Overall, the core strength of the 2015 A7 Sportback lies in its "balance": it has the looks of a coupe and the practicality of a family car; the power is strong enough, yet fuel consumption is not high; the interior feels luxurious, and the space can meet family needs. Compared with competitors like BMW 6 Series GT or Mercedes-Benz CLS, the A7 Sportback offers better value for money and richer configurations.
This car is suitable for two types of buyers: firstly, families who prioritize aesthetics and practicality — its fastback design fulfills a sense of dignity, while the spacious interior and comfortable features cater to family needs. Secondly, young people seeking luxury and comfort — the 2.0T engine is sufficiently dynamic, and the brand’s image matches their taste. If you're looking for a "well-rounded" luxury coupe with no obvious shortcomings, the 2015 A7 Sportback is worth considering.
In conclusion, the 2015 A7 Sportback is an "all-around" luxury coupe that balances appearance, performance, space, and comfort without notable weaknesses. Although it’s a 2015 model, its design and features are still relevant today, making it a second-hand luxury car that's worth purchasing.
