Jetour VT 9 2025 Review

In Malaysia's D-segment 7-seater SUV market, consumers are increasingly focused on practicality and value for money. The Jetour VT 9, as a brand-new model in the local market, offers the 2025 variants Comfort and Prime. The Comfort version enters the market at a price of RM 119,350, emphasizing balanced features and 7-seater practicality. In this review, we focus on test-driving the Comfort version, aiming to evaluate its performance in daily family usage scenarios, including space performance, power response, and whether its features meet family users' needs.
First, looking at the exterior design, the overall style of the Jetour VT 9 Comfort leans towards stability. The front features a large grille framed by chrome accents and LED daytime running lights, providing decent visual recognition. The car's line flows smoothly from the hood to the rear, with 19-inch alloy wheels and tire specifications of 235/55 R19 on the sides, giving the vehicle a solid appearance. As for the rear, the LED taillights feature a through-style design echoing the front, while the rear bumper has chrome decorations. Overall, the design aligns with the family-focused SUV positioning without being overly aggressive, but the details are well-executed.
Stepping inside, the interior design is simple and practical. The center console is covered with soft-touch materials and complemented by a 10.25-inch dual LCD intelligent screen setup, where the left screen serves as an instrument cluster and the right as a central control display, with a clear and intuitive operational logic. The multifunction steering wheel comes equipped with paddle shifters and supports manual adjustment. The driver’s seat provides six-way electric adjustment, while the front passenger seat offers four-way manual adjustment. The front seats offer moderate support. The rear seats are foldable in a 60:40 split, providing a maximum trunk capacity of 1680L when completely folded down, showcasing excellent storage capability. In terms of features, the Comfort version comes with standard keyless entry, automatic air conditioning, rear air conditioning vents, and a 360-degree panoramic camera, ensuring convenience for everyday use.
Space performance is one of Jetour VT 9's core selling points. The vehicle dimensions are 4724mm in length, 1900mm in width, and 1720mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2720mm. The front-row seating provides ample space, where a passenger of 175cm height has about a fist’s worth of headroom after adjusting their seating posture. The second-row seats can slide forwards and backwards, providing a maximum legroom of two fists. The third-row is suitable for children or adults on short trips, though headroom and legroom may feel slightly confined. Nonetheless, as a 7-seater SUV, it adequately meets the daily travel needs of families. In terms of storage, the door panels and space under the central control area offer multiple storage compartments, showcasing strong practical utility.
In the power department, the Comfort version is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 115kW (156PS) and a maximum torque of 230N·m, paired with a 6-speed DCT transmission and a front-wheel-drive layout. During actual driving, the power response is relatively quick during startup. The maximum torque output range of 1750-4000rpm covers the common speed range for daily driving, without significant lag during acceleration. When switching to sports mode, the transmission’s shift logic becomes more proactive, and the reserved power is sufficient for overtaking on city roads and highways. However, when fully loaded with seven passengers, climbing steep roads feels slightly underpowered, requiring more pressure on the accelerator.
In terms of handling, the combination of front McPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension performs well in filtering small bumps during urban road driving, and vibrations when passing speed bumps are not directly transmitted into the cabin. The steering system is tuned to be light, suitable for daily driving, and the steering wheel gradually becomes heavier during high-speed driving, providing good stability. The body roll in corners is controlled within a reasonable range, without an obvious sense of swaying. Overall handling performance aligns with the positioning of a family SUV.
In terms of fuel consumption testing, we drove 100km each on urban roads and highways. The fuel consumption in urban areas is approximately 8.5L/100km, while on highways it is about 6.8L/100km, resulting in a combined fuel consumption of around 7.6L/100km. For a 1.5T 7-seater SUV, this performance is mid-level. With a fuel tank capacity of 57L, the range in a full tank state is about 750km, which is sufficient for long-distance travel needs. Regarding noise control, wind and tire noise are somewhat noticeable during high-speed driving but remain within an acceptable range and do not affect conversations inside the cabin.
Compared with similar models like the Proton X70 1.5T Executive (RM 123,800), the Jetour VT 9 Comfort is more affordable and offers a 7-seater layout, making it more practical in terms of space. In terms of features, both are equipped with 360-degree panoramic cameras, automatic air conditioning, and so on, but the VT 9 offers a larger trunk space. However, Proton X70 enjoys higher brand recognition locally, whereas the Jetour VT 9 stands out with its value for money and 7-seater configuration.
To summarize, the key highlights of the Jetour VT 9 Comfort are its practical 7-seater space, well-balanced features, and affordable price. It is suitable for family users who value space and cost-efficiency, making it capable of handling daily urban commutes and weekend family outings. While its power might feel slightly inadequate when fully loaded, it is still sufficient for most household scenarios. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, spacious, 7-seater SUV, the Jetour VT 9 Comfort is worth considering.
