Maxus G10 2024 Review

As the demand for 7-seater luxury MPVs among Malaysian households continues to grow, the competition in the mid-to-high-end MPV market is becoming increasingly fierce. The 2024 Maxus G10, as a new contender in this segment, focuses on its 2.0T engine, long wheelbase, and 15-inch large screen as its main selling points. Many consumers are curious whether it can strike a balance between practicality and luxury. This test revolves around static experience, dynamic performance, and daily practicality, aiming to provide genuine references for potential buyers.
From the exterior, the 2024 Maxus G10 adopts an overall mature business style while incorporating some youthful details. The front features a large chrome-plated grille, paired with sharp xenon headlights on both sides. The daytime running lights use LED sources, which are highly recognizable when lit. The side profile is smooth, with a length of 5168mm and a width of 1980mm giving it a long and broad look. The 18-inch wheel size is proportionate to the body, and the lines near the wheel arches add a touch of muscularity. At the rear, the LED taillights are horizontally arranged, complementing the design of the front. The layout of the rear fog lights and reverse sensors is neat, and the overall appearance meets the business positioning of an MPV without appearing too dull.
Stepping inside, the interior is primarily dark-toned, with certain areas wrapped in soft materials that provide a delicate touch. The central area is dominated by a striking 15-inch high-resolution touchscreen, which features a clean and clear interface and offers a decent smoothness in operation. It supports basic multimedia and vehicle setting functions. A multifunctional steering wheel comes standard, with ACC cruise control buttons integrated on the left and audio adjustment buttons on the right, all of which provide crisp feedback. The seats in both the front and rear rows are manually adjustable, but the seat padding is quite thick, offering good support during sitting. The air-conditioning system adopts a front-and-rear zone design; the front row is equipped with automatic air conditioning, while the rear row has independent climate control to meet the needs of rear passengers. Combined with the standard panoramic sunroof, the interior feels spacious and bright. In terms of storage space, the front central armrest box is moderately sized, door pockets can hold two bottles of water, and there are cup holders available in both the second and third rows. It is sufficient for daily use.
In terms of dimensions, the 2024 Maxus G10 features a wheelbase of 3198mm, which stands out in the same class of MPVs. During the actual seating experience, a 175cm passenger seated in the second row has more than two fistfuls of legroom and a fist of headroom; even in the third row, legroom is about one fist and headroom is four fingers, ensuring that occupants won’t feel cramped even during long trips. The seating configuration is 2+2+3, and the second-row independent seats can slide manually forward and backward, allowing for adjustments in space or easier access to the third row. The trunk, while in the 7-seat configuration, can hold two 20-inch luggage bags. Folding down the third row further expands the storage space, accommodating the needs of family trips or short-distance travel.
Regarding power, the 2024 Maxus G10 is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum horsepower of 224 PS and a peak torque of 345 N·m and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. During actual driving, the power response is quite active at the initial stage; a light press on the accelerator gives good acceleration. During mid-to-high speed acceleration, the engine reaches its peak torque at around 4000 rpm, and gear shifts during overtaking are smooth without noticeable jerks. In the test drive, switching to normal driving mode provides steady power output, making it suitable for daily urban commutes; switching to sports mode increases the throttle sensitivity and makes the power response more direct. However, due to the weight of 2170kg, the explosive power during high-speed overtaking is somewhat limited. Overall, the power performance aligns well with the positioning of a family MPV.
In terms of handling, the Maxus G10's steering wheel offers moderate steering effort with minimal play, and provides clear directional responsiveness during daily driving. The combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear five-link independent suspension effectively filters out vibrations when driving over bumpy roads, keeping the vehicle's posture stable. Rear passengers won't feel excessive bumps. However, during sharp turns at high speed, the relatively high vehicle center of gravity may result in slight body roll, which is normal for an MPV. Regarding the braking system, the front ventilated discs and rear disc brakes deliver linear braking performance, and the brake pedal offers clear feedback, providing ample confidence during everyday driving.
In terms of comfort, the vehicle's noise control performs well. At high speeds, wind and tire noise are not overly noticeable, and the engine noise is mostly isolated outside the cabin at low and moderate speeds. The seats are thickly padded, offering good support and wraparound comfort during long drives. The rear air conditioning vents allow for quick temperature adjustment, and the standard sunroof enhances the ventilation and lighting inside the cabin. However, both the front and rear seats feature manual adjustments, which might be slightly inconvenient for users who prioritize ease of use.
Overall, the main strengths of the 2024 Maxus G10 lie in its spacious interior enabled by the long wheelbase, smooth 2.0T engine performance, and the modern 15-inch display screen. Compared to other MPVs in the same class, its spaciousness and configuration levels (such as ACC cruise control and rain-sensing wipers) offer a competitive edge. The price of 157,888RM also makes it a cost-effective choice in the mid-to-high-end MPV market. However, with only two airbags and manual seat adjustments, such details might give pause to users who place high importance on safety and convenience.
In conclusion, the 2024 Maxus G10 is better suited for users who prioritize practical family travel and have certain requirements for space and power, especially consumers who often need to drive their families on long trips. Its spaciousness easily accommodates seven passengers, while the smooth power delivery and comfort align with the expectations of an MPV. Although it has minor shortcomings in terms of safety configurations and seat adjustment options, its overall cost-performance ratio still makes it worthy of consideration. If you are looking for a spacious and well-rounded 7-seater luxury MPV, the 2024 Maxus G10 could be a good choice.
