With the competition in the B-segment electric vehicle market becoming increasingly fierce, consumers' demands for high cost-effectiveness, long range, and rich configurations continue to rise. Many models attempt to find a balance among the three, but few truly succeed. The 2025 ORA Good Cat Ultra targets this niche market as a new choice. It not only continues the family’s iconic retro design but also optimizes range, configuration, and pricing. Priced at 109,800 RM, paired with an official range of 480km and comprehensive intelligent safety configurations, can this combination win over pragmatic users? This test drive will focus on verifying its actual range performance, dynamic driving quality, and the practicality of its features, providing a clear reference for everyone.

At first glance, the 2025 Good Cat Ultra retains the core recognizability of its retro and rounded contour. The oval LED headlights at the front keep the classic design, with clear internal lamp cavity structures, providing ample brightness and appealing visual effects when lit. The closed front grille naturally connects with the headlights on both sides, and the trapezoidal air intake design on the lower front bumper, paired with the standard front radar probes, is both practical and does not disrupt the overall sense of coordination. The lines on the side of the body are smooth, with waistlines extending from the front fender to the rear, making the body look longer. The 18-inch alloy wheels have a simple and elegant design, with tire specifications of 215/50 R18, which gives promising traction performance. At the rear, the rounded taillight assembly echoes the headlights, and the black trim below the rear bumper adds a touch of sportiness. The overall exterior design adheres to the retro aesthetic without appearing overly exaggerated, making it suitable for both daily commuting and weekend outings.

When stepping inside, the overall interior style leans towards simplicity and warmth. The dashboard is wrapped in soft materials with a delicate touch, accented by silver trims that provide a high-quality feel for vehicles in this price range. The instrument panel features a 10.25-inch full LCD display, which clearly presents information such as speed, range, and driver assistance status in real-time. The central control screen also measures 10.25 inches and is equipped with an intelligent system that operates smoothly, supporting Bluetooth connectivity and basic entertainment functions. While it doesn't offer an overly complex ecosystem, it is adequate for everyday use. In terms of configuration, the Ultra version boasts many highlights: the front row features a six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory and massage functions, which can effectively relieve fatigue during long drives. The passenger seat has a four-way manual adjustment, which meets basic needs. The rear seats support a 60:40 split-folding function, allowing for flexible storage space expansion. In addition, keyless entry, electrically folding mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers are all standard, showing the manufacturer's attention to detail.

In terms of space performance, the Good Cat Ultra's body dimensions are 4235mm×1825mm×1603mm, with a wheelbase of 2650mm, which is within the mainstream size for B-segment electric vehicles. The seating space in the front row is spacious; after a passenger standing 175cm adjusts the seat, there is still a space of one fist and two fingers above the head. The rear seating space is just as impressive, with about two fists of legroom and one fist of headroom, making it comfortable even for three adults. For storage capability, the front center armrest box and door panel storage compartments are moderately sized and can hold daily items like phones and water bottles. The trunk’s regular capacity can accommodate two 20-inch suitcases, and folding down the rear seats allows for longer items to fit, meeting the storage needs of short family trips. Notably, the rear seats are equipped with air conditioning vents and power outlets, enhancing the comfort of rear passengers.

Powertrain, Good Cat Ultra is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 105kW (143PS) and a maximum torque of 210N·m, with a front-engine front-wheel-drive layout. During actual driving, the response at startup is quick, and a light press on the accelerator pedal provides noticeable power output. It's very easy to overtake or follow other vehicles during daily urban commutes. Switching to sport mode makes the power output more direct, with a stronger sense of acceleration, but due to the motor's power limitation, more distance needs to be reserved for high-speed overtaking. In economy mode, the power output is gentler, making it more suitable for daily cruising and effectively reducing energy consumption.

In terms of handling, the steering wheel is precise, with minimal dead zones and moderate feedback force, making it easy to handle during daily driving. The suspension system adopts a combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear torsion beam non-independent suspension, tuned for comfort. It effectively absorbs minor bumps on urban roads, ensuring passengers inside the car do not feel significant jolts. When driving over speed bumps, the suspension rebounds crisply without unnecessary vibrations. The vehicle maintains good stability during high-speed driving; at a speed of 100km/h, the steering wheel does not feel light. When cornering, the body roll is controlled within a reasonable range, giving a solid rather than loose sensation.

Range and energy consumption are the most concerned aspects for electric vehicle users. We conducted a test under mixed driving conditions: 60% urban roads and 40% highways, with the air conditioning set to automatic mode at 24°C. The official range is 480km, and during our actual test, the range realization rate is about 85%. Energy consumption is about 13kWh/100km on urban roads and about 16kWh/100km on highways, which is in line with expectations. As for charging, the fast-charging mode takes 1 hour to fully charge, while slow charging takes 9 hours. Daily use with home charging stations or public fast-charging stations is quite convenient.

Regarding driving and riding comfort, the noise control of the Good Cat Ultra is commendable. At speeds below 60km/h, almost no noticeable wind or road noise can be heard inside the car. At speeds exceeding 80km/h, wind noise gradually becomes noticeable but remains within an acceptable range. The seat padding has moderate softness, with good support, making long-term sitting comfortable without fatigue. The energy recovery system has multiple adjustable levels; even at the highest level, the drag feeling is not overly strong and does not affect driving smoothness.

Overall, the 2025 ORA Good Cat Ultra has very prominent core advantages: the price of 109,800 MYR is 34,000 MYR cheaper than the 2024 model with the same configuration, significantly enhancing its value-for-money ratio. The official range of 480km meets the daily needs of most users, with stable actual realization rates. In terms of features, it offers full-range ACC, 360-degree panoramic view cameras, automatic parking, driver's seat massage, and six airbags, among others, which even surpass some competitors at higher price points. Compared with other B-segment electric vehicles in the same class, it has obvious advantages in price, configuration, and space. The only minor downside might be the rear torsion beam suspension structure, but the tuning is sufficient to meet daily usage demands.

This car is very suitable for family users who value cost-effectiveness and practicality, or young people just entering society. Its space can meet the needs of short family trips, its configuration enhances everyday driving convenience, and its range ensures you don't need to charge frequently. Whether it's commuting to work or taking the family on outings during weekends, it's a great choice. If you're looking for an affordable electric car with rich features and sufficient range, the 2025 ORA Good Cat Ultra is worth considering.

Last week, I took my family for an outing at the foot of Genting Highlands. On the way back, we encountered heavy rain and traffic jams on uphill roads. Inside the car, the leather seats came with ventilation, the HUD and 10.25-inch screen were clear without glare, and the interior had a premium feel. During uphill driving, the electric motor provided sufficient torque. Although the push-back feeling was occasionally weak, the 143 horsepower was stable enough for mountain roads. During the heavy rain, the lane departure warning and active braking intervened promptly, and the six airbags provided a strong sense of security. Unfortunately, the fast charging was slightly slow. Overall, its performance on Malaysia's rainy and mountainous roads was balanced and practical.

The interior of this car is absolutely amazing! Everywhere you touch feels soft, even the air conditioning vents feel like little kitten paws. I love it to bits!

Driving the 2025 ORA Good Cat Ultra for half a year, it's really worry-free during traffic jams on my commute! With 143 horsepower, overtaking is smooth, and the 480km range means I only need to charge it once a week. The interior feels soft and cozy, and the massage seats have saved my back during traffic jams. If only the exterior design were cooler, it would be perfect!

Commuting with it is super enjoyable! It effortlessly leaves fuel cars behind when starting at green lights, and ACC adaptive cruise control frees up your right foot. The back row comfortably seats three friends without feeling cramped, and the air conditioning comes with PM2.5 filtration, so it's not stuffy even in traffic jams. The only minor drawback is the slightly plasticky feel of the interior. But with a 500km range that lasts a whole week and fast charging in 40 minutes, totally worth it!

Previously, driving a fuel car during the morning rush hour in Kuala Lumpur made me question my life. After switching to the Ora Good Cat 500 Ultra, it's much better! The safety features are fully equipped with 6 airbags + 360-degree cameras. Last time during parallel parking on a rainy day, I almost scraped a motorcycle on the roadside, but the automatic braking intervened just in time. It gave me a fright but also great peace of mind. The interior feels like moving a retro café inside the car, with a HUD heads-up display and 6-way adjustable seats—no more backache on long drives to Penang. However, the fast charging takes about 10 hours, which is a bit slow. When climbing the Cameron Highlands over the weekend, the power felt slightly weak, but it's completely sufficient for daily commuting. Compared to competitors at the same price point, this design and configuration have no rivals—it’s totally worth the price!
