When switched to comfort mode during daily driving, the suspension can filter out most minor road bumps, and there is no hard impact when driving over speed bumps. On roads with continuous potholes, the body sway is minimal, and the stability is impressive. The steering feels relatively steady and heavy, with minimal play and clear precision when cornering; coupled with the full-time all-wheel-drive system, the body roll is well-controlled during high-speed turns, and there’s no noticeable sway. The braking performance is also reassuring, with a moderately long brake pedal travel and a linear feel when pressed. During emergency braking, the vehicle maintains a straight line without veering off course.

In the fuel consumption test, we drove 50 km each on congested city roads and highways, with the air conditioning on and two passengers onboard throughout. The final calculation showed the city fuel consumption is approximately 9.2 L/100 km, highway consumption drops to 7.1 L/100 km, and the combined fuel consumption is 8.3 L/100 km, which is very close to the official figure of 8.1 L/100 km. For an SUV weighing over 2 tons, this fuel consumption performance is very practical.

In terms of driving comfort, the performance of the XC90 Ultra B5 is remarkable. The cabin insulation is excellent, with minimal tire and wind noise below a speed of 80 km/h; when driving at speeds above 100 km/h, wind noise becomes slightly more noticeable, but it doesn’t affect normal conversations. The seat cushioning is very soft, so sitting for long periods doesn’t feel tiring; the rear air conditioning vents allow for independent temperature adjustment, enabling rear passengers to cool down quickly in summer. The integration of the mild-hybrid system is very smooth, with almost no perceptible engine start-stop jolt, making it very user-friendly for daily driving.

The interior is truly stunning the moment you step in — the simplicity and premium feel of Nordic design are just perfect! The light gray Nappa leather seats feel soft to the touch, and even under the blazing midday sun of Kuala Lumpur, they don’t get overly hot. The second row’s 40:20:40 folding design is super practical; last week, I took my parents and two nephews to Genting Highlands. The third row comfortably seated two kids without feeling crowded, and the trunk still had space for four suitcases plus a bunch of snacks. The 19 B&W speakers are incredible. While stuck in traffic, playing local Malaysian Dangdut music had bass that felt so soothing. The 11.2-inch central control touchscreen operates smoothly, and the air conditioning is automatic with separate zones for the front and rear. The elderly and children in the back can set their own temperatures, which is incredibly convenient. Safety is, of course, Volvo's forte and gives unparalleled peace of mind on Malaysia’s roads, where motorcycles often appear out of nowhere! Last time, while making a U-turn in the narrow lanes of George Town, Penang, the 360-degree camera vividly captured the illegally parked cars and a suddenly approaching bicycle, preventing any scratches — I was so relieved! And the automatic emergency braking feature — just last week on the highway, the car in front suddenly braked hard. I hadn’t even reacted yet, but the car stopped itself. It gave me a fright but completely avoided a collision! The seats also have ISOFIX connectors, and it took only a minute to install the car seat for my nephew. As the family driver on trips, I truly feel at ease. These two aspects are absolutely top-notch — buying this car was totally worth it!

First, talking about performance, there’s no issue giving it a full 5-star rating—the PHEV system is perfect for Kuala Lumpur’s road conditions. The pure electric mode covers 77 kilometers, just enough for my daily commute and picking up the kids, saving fuel and staying quiet; occasionally on weekends when I go to Genting, the 462-horsepower hybrid mode makes climbing hills effortless, and its 5.3-second 0-100 km/h acceleration is super stable for overtaking on highways. The air suspension filters out the bumps on rugged country roads very comfortably too. The interior gets a 4-star rating. The 19 B&W speakers deliver amazing quality when playing local Malaysian songs, and the 12.3-inch instrument panel along with the 11.2-inch central control screen operates smoothly. However, the third-row seats are slightly harder compared to the first two rows, which might get a bit uncomfortable on long trips—just a minor flaw. As for safety, another 4 stars. Volvo’s active safety system is truly reliable—last week on the Penang highway, a car suddenly changed lanes, the automatic braking system intervened and stopped the car immediately. The rear side airbags and knee airbags are all included as well, but it would be perfect if an automatic parking feature were added. For the exterior, I’d give it 4 stars. The Thor’s Hammer headlights and Viking Axe taillights have excellent recognition at night, but the body color options are too limited. Even my wife, who usually complains about my reckless driving, praised the car for its reassurance. The performance is a pleasant surprise! As a plug-in hybrid, the pure electric mode is completely sufficient for city driving. My home is 15km from my workplace, and a single charge lasts four days. The fuel consumption is as low as 1.8L/100km, which is much more efficient than my previous fuel car. Last week, we went to Genting Highlands with seven people fully seated along with luggage. On weekends, when I take my family to Genting Highlands, the power is readily available for hill climbs, and the 7.7-second 0-100 km/h acceleration ensures overtaking on the highway is stable. With a fuel consumption of 8.1L/100km, it’s definitely economical for a 7-seater SUV, and after refueling, there's still plenty left after a round trip to Genting.
