【PCauto】As 2025 draws to a close, Honda Malaysia has rolled out a targeted update for its popular B-segment sedan, the Honda City.

This update primarily focuses on the high-spec RS variants within the lineup, with both the RS petrol and RS e:HEV hybrid models now coming equipped with a 360° surround view camera system as standard equipment.

The addition of this practical feature significantly enhances convenience and safety when parking or maneuvering in tight spaces - a particularly valuable asset for daily urban commuting.

Notably, this added feature comes at no extra cost. Post-update, the official on-road price (excluding insurance) for the Honda City RS petrol remains at RM99,900, while the price for the hybrid RS e:HEV version stays at RM111,900.

Aside from the newly added 360° surround view camera, there are no other changes in this update

The powertrains for both models remain unchanged from the versions introduced in the 2023 facelift. The Honda City RS petrol continues to be powered by a 1.5L naturally aspirated DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, delivering a maximum output of 121 hp and a peak torque of 145 Nm, paired with a CVT transmission.

The RS e:HEV variant employs Honda’s signature i-MMD dual-motor hybrid system, which uses a 1.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine as a high-efficiency generator. The drive motor can deliver a combined power output of 109 horsepower and a combined torque of 253N·m. In most urban driving conditions, the vehicle operates primarily in electric mode, contributing to excellent fuel efficiency.

Continuing the existing design style in exterior and interior

The RS variant maintains a youthful and dynamic appearance, featuring a blackened exterior kit and sporty design elements. The vehicle's dimensions are 4,589 mm in length, 1,748 mm in width, and 1,467 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,600mm. Its rear legroom remains one of the key competitive strengths in its class.

Interior features include a semi-digital instrument panel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather-wrapped seats, and a digital climate control panel.

Regarding safety, both RS variants continue to come standard with the full Honda Sensing active safety suite, including features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist.

The competition in the B-Segment sedan market is intensifying

This “more for the same price” update for the high-end models reflects Honda Malaysia’s strategy to bolster competitiveness in the fiercely contested B-segment sedan market.

This segment has long been dominated by the Honda City and Toyota Vios. Recently, the latter globally debuted its brand-new Vios Hybrid model in Thailand, with a pricing strategy directly targeting the Honda City e:HEV.

Thus, Honda Malaysia has enhanced the City series’ configurations at year’s end to sustain the model’s appeal, especially as technological features grow increasingly important to consumers.

In summary, while this update to the Honda City RS series is limited in scope, it introduces high-value features that strengthen the model’s value proposition without altering its price positioning.

For consumers considering a sedan in this segment, the RS variant now presents a more compelling package of convenience and safety features.
