Brand-new Toyota RAV4 Spy Shots Revealed: TNGA-K platform, Power Upgraded!
RobertDec 03, 2024, 03:51 PM
The Toyota RAV4 is the base model in Toyota's compact SUV family. Its name is an abbreviation for "Recreational Active Vehicle with 4-wheel drive," meaning "a four-wheel-drive recreational vehicle." The Toyota RAV4 was first introduced in Japan in 1994, with sales that were twice the expected figures for Toyota. It was then launched in the United States in January 1996.
Recently, a spy shot circulating online revealed what is believed to be the next-generation Toyota RAV4. In the image, the vehicle is almost completely covered in camouflage and is parked at a gas station in the United States, with a small trailer attached to the back.

It is still unclear whether the next-generation Toyota RAV4 will be an entirely new model or a significant update of the current SUV. However, it is reported that the current model's TNGA-K platform will continue to be used, albeit with some minor adjustments. Additionally, Toyota will introduce a new generation of hybrid powertrain technology, combining the familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a new electric motor and battery, aiming to deliver more power while improving fuel efficiency.
The new-generation Toyota RAV4 is expected to feature a completely new torque-vectoring control (DTV) system, which can disconnect the driveshaft. This will improve fuel efficiency, enhance handling performance, and allow for independent power output to the left and right rear wheels, significantly boosting off-road capability.

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 will feature a noticeable evolution in its exterior design, adopting Toyota's latest "Hammerhead Shark" front design. The vehicle's window line, rear wheel arches, and the front end length will be adjusted, along with other details. The front will be equipped with C-shaped or L-shaped headlights connected by a light bar running across the front of the vehicle. Below the headlights, there will be a newly designed mesh grille.
