New Toyota Raize launched in Indonesia, will the 2026 Perodua Ativa look like this too?

【PCauto】PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has unveiled the mid-cycle facelift of the Toyota Raize in Indonesia. The update brings subtle revisions to the exterior, interior, and infotainment system.
In essence, the 2026 update appears to be Toyota's somewhat belated response to refresh an ageing product line.
The most extensive revisions are reserved for the GR Sport variant, which receives a redesigned aerokit. This includes more aggressive front and rear bumper surrounds and side decals, lending it a more performance-oriented visual stance.
Inside, Toyota aims to mitigate the previously common complaint of a low-rent, plasticky feel in entry-level models. The solution is straightforward but effective: adding Gun Metallic accents across the range and unifying the pillars and roof lining in black. This instantly lifts the cabin's sporty ambience and reduces the sense of austerity.

Technologically, the Raize now features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard across the range, with full support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This means even the entry-level 1.2 G model dispenses with the previously small screen, acknowledging heightened consumer demand for connectivity.
The range-topping GR Sport TSS variant is fitted with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes a Pre-Collision System (PCS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA), Automatic High Beam (AHB), as well as Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).
The number of airbags has been increased from two in the standard version to six, with a full car curtain design. These enhancements go some way to addressing the safety equipment shortfalls of the pre-facelift model.
These upgrades are reflected in the pricing. In Indonesia, the range-topping 1.0T GR Sport TSS is priced at IDR 317,100,000 (approx. RM 75,790), while the entry-level 1.2 G M/T starts at IDR 243,500,000 (approx. RM 58,200).

Disappointingly, the Raize carries over the same powertrain options from the pre-facelift model: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo and a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, both paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
The 1.0T turbo produces 98 PS and 140 Nm of torque, while the 1.2-litre unit delivers 88 PS.
This conservative approach raises the concern that the forthcoming facelift for the Perodua Ativa (its Malaysian sibling) might follow a similarly cautious path.
The recent launch of the Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid (upon which the Ativa is based) is a promising development. This sets an expectation that the forthcoming Perodua Ativa facelift should offer a more comprehensive hybrid system and improved refinement, moving beyond reliance on visual and infotainment updates to stay competitive.

The 2026 Raize rectifies several shortcomings of its predecessor, notably upgrading the infotainment and connectivity, while adopting a sharper exterior style. It remains a competent proposition, with 200 mm of ground clearance aiding navigation through waterlogged roads, underscoring its practicality for urban environments.
However, one might hope for a more ambitious future vision, rather than a strategy seemingly focused on protecting current sales with incremental updates.
