The Exterior highlights of New BMW X3 Long Wheelbase
Minimalist Sporty Style
In terms of exterior design, the all-new long-wheelbase BMW X3 continues the model's design. It adopts the latest family-style design and is still equipped with BMW's iconic "kidney" grille, but it’s larger and more dynamic, which is similar to the revamped models of other BMWs. The grille panel is filled with vertical and diagonal lines that create a geometric sense of space. In addition, it also features a ring-shining grille that, when illuminated, is more recognizable and hints at the style of electric vehicles.
Aside from the grille being a key upgrade in BMW's design, the design of the headlight groups on both sides has also attracted widespread attention. The new long-wheelbase BMW X3 adopts a dual "L" daytime running light design that is similar to the mid-term revamped BMW 5 series, and it is highly recognizable when turned on.
Overall, the new car's front face has a stronger sense of three-dimensionality and weight. It looks more upscale and atmospheric, and has a strong new energy vehicle style. The current model, on the other hand, has a flatter and lower front design, with richer lines, presenting a strong sense of movement.
From the side, the new long-wheelbase BMW X3 adopts a simpler design. The wheel arches are integrated with the body, the window contour line slightly rises in the rear door area, visually creating a more powerful sense of movement. Meanwhile, it also adopts a semi-hidden door handle design that is similar to the style of Xiaomi SU7. And it has replaced it with a new style wheel hub, equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels and offers 20-inch and 21-inch options that enhance its recognizability and freshness.
The rear design is also very simple. It is equipped with a new style of taillight group, the double L-shaped light strip echoes with the front headlight group, but the three-dimensional sense is not as obvious as the current model. The top of the car is equipped with a spoiler, the central horizontal bar creates a similar ducktail feel that enhances the visual width of the vehicle's rear.
It's worth mentioning that the new BMW X3 has taken into account aerodynamic design in its styling, with a drag coefficient of just 0.27Cd. In comparison, the current BMW X3, Mercedes-benz GLC both have a drag coefficient of 0.29Cd, while the Audi Q5L has a drag coefficient of 0.30Cd.
