【PCauto】September 27, 2025, marked a major milestone for Toyota as its all-new bZ3X electric SUV arrived in Hong Kong, making its global debut in any right-hand-drive market.
At the new car launch event held at K11 MUSEA in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, the Hong Kong debut price of the bZ3X is HK$229,600 (124,833 MYR), with the original price being HK$239,600 (124,833 MYR). An early-bird discount is available for the first 100 units, reducing the price by approximately HK$10,000 (5,438 MYR) from the original price.

bZ3X is the first model under Toyota's RCE system
This model is the first fruit of Toyota's "Regional Chief Engineer" (RCE) system implemented in China. This is the first time Toyota has entrusted its local team with full responsibility, leading the entire process from R&D to sales, with the aim of better aligning with regional market demands.

The bZ3X is the first landmark product under Toyota's RCE system, spearheaded by Chinese engineer Liu Wenbin from GAC Toyota as the chief engineer.
This initiative signifies a major overhaul of Toyota's R&D system in China. It establishes a "One R&D" structure by consolidating local resources and shifts decision-making authority from its Japanese headquarters to the "Intelligent Electro-Mobility Center by TOYOTA" (IEM by TOYOTA) in China.

The development of the bZ3X leverages the technological expertise of China's local supply chain, such as an advanced intelligent driving system developed in collaboration with Momenta, and cooperation with HUAWEI in the field of smart cockpit ecosystems.
What kind of electric vehicle is the bZ3X?
In terms of exterior design, the bZ3X combines a sense of technology and practicality, featuring the bZ series' iconic C-shaped LED light strip, composed of 112 LED units and supporting multiple interactive lighting patterns.

The bZ3X features a low-slung body design, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.27Cd. Its dimensions are 4600mm in length, 1850/1875mm in width, 1660/1645mm in height, and it has a wheelbase of 2765mm. Its dimensions are comparable to the Toyota RAV4, though it presents a more compact visual profile.

Its dimensions are comparable to the Toyota RAV4, though it presents a more compact visual profile.

In terms of interior, the bZ3X emphasizes a sense of technology and an eco-friendly philosophy, with a standard 14.6-inch floating central control screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel. It is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, supporting four-zone voice recognition and OTA updates.

The high-end model also comes with an NVIDIA Orin X chip with a computing power of 254 TOPS, enabling Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) capability and remote parking functions.
The cabin features a layered center console and a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel. These components are primarily made from soft, sustainable materials and are manufactured using plant-based processes to minimize odors.
Practical features include dual wireless charging pads for the front row (supporting 50W fast charging), an 11-speaker YAMAHA audio system for high-end models, as well as rear seats adjustable by 20 degrees and a fully flat-folding design. The trunk capacity reaches 427 liters.

Additionally, the vehicle supports V2L external power supply functionality, with a maximum output of 3,300W, enhancing outdoor usability.
How about the bZ3X's performance and range?
In terms of the powertrain, the bZ3X is equipped with a single-motor, front-wheel-drive configuration and is available in two versions: the base model delivers a maximum power of 150kW (204 horsepower) and 210Nm torque, with a CLTC range of 430km; the high-power model offers a maximum power of 165kW (224 horsepower), with its range increased to 610km.
The battery pack uses lithium iron phosphate technology, with capacities of 50.03kWh and 67.92kWh, and in fast-charging mode, it can charge from 30% to 80% in 24 minutes.

Engineered for daily comfort, the powertrain prioritizes smooth and linear power delivery, incorporating regenerative braking and a sport mode. Real-world testing demonstrates reliable range for city commutes, with a dynamic range of approximately 420 km maintained even in low winter temperatures.
The bZ3X offers three range versions based on CLTC standards: 430km, 520km, and 610km. While real-world tests show air conditioning can reduce range by 10-15%, the vehicle remains fully capable of handling daily commutes and family trips.

bZ3X's sales performance in the Chinese market is impressive
Since its launch in March 2025, bZ3X's second-quarter sales in China were approximately 17,000 units, with single-month sales reaching 7,253 units in August. By mid-October, bZ3X had sold over 46,000 units cumulatively.
bZ3X's localized cooperation model, such as integrating Momenta's intelligent driving technology and HUAWEI's cockpit ecosystem, effectively addresses a perceived gap in Toyota's intelligent technology offerings.
Market data shows that bZ3X users are mainly concentrated among young families and urban commuters. Its high cost-performance ratio and reliable range have been the key drivers behind its sales.

Why is the bZ3X listed in Hong Kong?
As the first global market to launch the right-hand drive version of the bZ3X, Hong Kong not only fills a critical gap in Toyota's local EV lineup in Hong Kong but is also regarded as a strategic stepping stone for the global rollout of the bZ3X.
Through the Hong Kong market, Toyota can validate the bZ3X's adaptability to narrow streets and complex road conditions. Features such as the locally-optimized body design and intelligent interface system will serve as a testbed, accumulating valuable experience for its subsequent entry into other right-hand-drive markets such as Southeast Asia, India, and Australia.
Furthermore, Hong Kong consumers' exacting standards for quality make the market a strategic proving ground, enabling Toyota to gather critical user feedback for continuous product refinement and future model development.
