In recent years, the Malaysian sports car market has been receiving continuous attention. In the high-performance sports car segment with a 3.9L displacement, consumers place more emphasis on the balance between power output and brand tuning. As a flagship model under the brand, the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo 3.9L highlights its core selling points with a maximum horsepower of 730PS and an acceleration performance of 2.9 seconds from 0-100km/h. This test drive will focus on verifying whether its actual driving performance lives up to the name "Tributo," while also evaluating its practicality and comfort for daily use.

In terms of exterior design, the F8 Tributo continues Ferrari's classic mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car posture. Its low-slung body paired with smooth waistlines gives it an extremely aggressive visual impression. The front features a large air intake grille, sharp-shaped LED daytime running lights on both sides, which correspond to the raised hood lines, enhancing the sporty feel. The side skirts and rear spoiler of the side profile have undergone aerodynamic optimization, ensuring stability when driving at high speeds. The rear features a quad-exhaust layout and a diffuser design, further emphasizing its performance attributes. The taillights adopt a round design, retaining the brand's recognition. The overall design not only inherits Ferrari's racing genes but also incorporates modern elements in the details, making it highly distinctive.

Entering the interior, the cabin predominantly features black as the main color, extensively using Alcantara material and carbon fiber trim, offering a solid touch and an outstanding texture. The center console is laid out simply, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen that integrates vehicle control, navigation, and multimedia functions. The operation fluency meets mainstream standards. The seats adopt a sports-style bucket design with strong support, provide multi-directional electric adjustments, and effectively secure the body during dynamic driving. The steering wheel retains Ferrari's iconic Manettino driving mode dial, allowing switches between wet, sport, race, and other modes with clear operational logic. Interior storage space is limited, with small storage compartments only at the central armrest and door panels, focusing more on driving experience rather than practicality.

In terms of space, as a two-door, two-seater sports car, the F8 Tributo's seating space can only accommodate two people. The headroom and legroom are more comfortable for passengers below 180cm in height, while taller users may feel cramped. The trunk capacity is about 200L, which can accommodate a carry-on suitcase or a small amount of luggage. It is sufficient for short trips but has limited storage capability for long-distance travel.

In terms of performance, the 3.9L V8 twin-turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power output of 730PS and a peak torque of 770N·m, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. During launch, the throttle response is rapid, and even a light press on the pedal brings a strong sense of acceleration. The 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds feels even more astonishing in person. During mid-range overtakes, the transmission's shifting logic is clear, with decisive downshifts and power readily available on demand. When switched to race mode, the engine sounds become more robust, and the exhaust backfire sound is pronounced, further igniting the desire to drive. In daily driving, the car behaves gently in comfort mode, with the RPM maintained at a lower range, making it suitable for urban commuting.

In terms of handling and chassis tuning, the steering wheel is precise with minimal dead zone, clearly feeding back road information. The suspension system uses a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, tuned on the firmer side, providing excellent support in corners with well-controlled body roll. However, when navigating bumpy roads, the suspension does not completely filter out fine vibrations, directly transmitting road feel into the cabin, slightly sacrificing comfort, but this aligns with its positioning as a sports car. The braking system employs carbon-ceramic brakes, offering strong braking force with minimal thermal decay, achieving an impressive braking distance of around 30 meters from 100-0km/h.

In terms of fuel consumption, the official combined fuel consumption is 12.9L/100km. In actual tests, fuel consumption is approximately 16-18L/100km in urban congested conditions, and can drop to around 10L/100km during highway cruising, in line with the fuel consumption level of high-performance sports cars. Noise control performance is average. At low speeds, engine noise is minimal, but at high speeds, wind noise and tire noise become more pronounced. Nevertheless, the exhaust sound is within an acceptable range and does not detract from the driving experience.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo 3.9L lie in its powerful output, precise handling tuning, and the authentic Ferrari brand ethos. Compared to the Lamborghini Huracán Evo in the same class, the F8 Tributo has slight advantages in acceleration performance and transmission smoothness, as well as better comfort for daily driving. When compared to the McLaren 720S, it boasts stronger brand premium value and higher market recognition.

This car is more suitable for consumers who seek the ultimate driving experience, especially loyal fans of the Ferrari brand, or those needing a sports car that balances track performance with daily commuting capabilities. Its 7-year comprehensive vehicle warranty is relatively rare among luxury sports cars and helps reduce post-purchase costs.

In summary, the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo 3.9L is a sports car that balances track performance and daily practicality exceptionally well. The 730PS power output and 2.9-second acceleration time cater to the pursuit of speed, while retaining a certain level of daily usability. If you are a consumer who values brand prestige and driving pleasure, this car is worth considering.

I used to drive the 911 Carrera S, but I switched to the F8 Tributo purely because I was captivated by its looks and engine sound. Appearance gets 4 points; its side profile is sharper than the 488, especially when parked under the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the head-turning rate shoots straight through the roof—but the front lip is too low, so I have to be extra careful every time I cross a speed bump in the neighborhood, for fear of scraping it. The 4-point performance score is absolutely fair. Last Saturday, I drove on the North-South Expressway, and when I stepped hard on the accelerator, the thrust pinned my friend's scream into the engine roar—it takes only 2.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h, making overtaking on the highway feel like slicing through butter. However, crawling slowly during the morning rush hour on Jalan Bukit Bintang, the dual-clutch occasionally jerks, and the air conditioning cools down a bit slowly—after all, the Malaysian sun is incredibly harsh. But every time I ignite the engine and hear that roar, all the tiny flaws are forgotten. This must be the magic of Ferrari.

During the morning rush hour, squeezing through traffic with the explosive power of this 3.9T engine is truly satisfying. A light press on the accelerator is enough to leave a line of cars behind. However, the leather seats get scorching hot after being exposed to the sun, so you'll need to turn on the AC in advance. But the confidence of those 730 horsepower during overtaking is totally worth it!

Previously drove a 911 Turbo S in KLCC’s basement car park, and it was always said to “look like a modified car.” After switching to the F8 Tributo, every time I park it by Jalan Bukit Bintang, even the security guards take a second look — this red paint with the S-duct front fascia, a solid 5/5 for appearance, not exaggerating. Last Sunday, I drove it on the North-South Expressway; in Sport mode, the 3.9T with 730 hp shoots forward with just a push, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, giving such a strong sense of pushback that my passenger clutched the handle and shouted, “Slow down!” However, the 12.9L fuel consumption on the highway is still acceptable. But during the morning rush hour on the LDP, the suspension is so hard it feels like sitting on a trampoline, and I have to crawl over speed bumps at a snail’s pace — in this regard, it’s definitely not as comfortable as the 911. Scoring 4/5 for safety since there’s no autonomous emergency braking, but the carbon fiber cabin is solid enough, and it feels reassuring to drive in the city.

Stuck on Jalan Ampang during Kuala Lumpur's evening rush hour, the 3.9T roar of the F8 is muffled into a hum by the crawling traffic. Driving on Genting's mountain roads in rainy weather, the carbon fiber seats offer impeccable support, but the Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, slippery from the rain, feels as if it's been greased. The exterior is undoubtedly attention-grabbing, with people taking photos every time it's parked in the KLCC garage, but the low waistline means getting in and out requires scooting like a crab—stylish for sure, but hard on the back. Fuel consumption? 12.9? That's the ideal figure for highway cruising; in city traffic jams, it bottoms out at 18 liters per 100km, and your wallet might just start bleeding.
