2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Review

The competition in the C-segment SUV market has been increasingly intense in recent years. Consumers demand both practicality in space and intelligent configurations, without compromising on performance and value for money. The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has attracted much attention upon its release — priced just a little over 120,000 RMB, it comes equipped with a 24.6-inch curved dual-screen display, Sony audio system, and L2-level driving assistance. Its performance parameters are also impressive compared to competitors in the same price range. We've taken it for a week-long test drive to see if its specifications match up to real-world performance.
At first glance, the Tiggo 7 Pro leans towards a youthful and sporty design. The front features a large hexagonal blacked-out grille with a dot matrix chrome finish inside, paired with sharp LED headlights on both sides, offering high recognizability. The vehicle’s side profile is smoothly contoured, with a waistline extending from the front fender to the rear, preventing the side from appearing bulky. The 18-inch multi-spoke wheels are dynamic in design, with tire specifications of 225/55 R18, balancing grip and comfort. The rear design is simple, with eye-catching light effects from the through-type LED taillights. The rear bumper features silver skid plates and a dual-exhaust layout, further accentuating its sporty appeal. The lighting system is equipped with LED across all configurations, with automatic headlights and daytime running lights included, making daily use convenient.
Inside the cabin, the first notable feature is the 24.6-inch curved dual-screen display, integrating the instrument cluster and the center console screen. The interface runs smoothly and supports both CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. For interior materials, the dashboard and door panels are wrapped in soft-touch leather, offering a delicate feel, while silver trim accents enhance the overall premium look. The front seats are ventilated seats with 6-way electric adjustment for the driver and 4-way electric adjustment for the passenger — the ventilation function is particularly practical during summer driving. The rear space meets C-segment SUV standards, with its wheelbase at 2670mm. A passenger measuring 175cm sitting in the back will have roughly two fists' worth of legroom, and headroom does not feel cramped. The rear row comes with air conditioning vents and USB ports, providing added comfort for long journeys. The trunk has a capacity of 475L, enough to hold several suitcases for daily use. The rear seats support a 60:40 split-folding design, allowing for expanded storage space when needed, enhancing practicality.
In terms of performance, the Tiggo 7 Pro is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum horsepower of 197PS and a peak torque of 290Nm. It's paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission. During the drive, the car accelerates briskly, with ample torque output at low RPMs, making city driving and overtaking stress-free. Switching to Sport mode makes the throttle response more sensitive, with faster gear shifting and a more pronounced sense of acceleration. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 8.3 seconds, which is excellent for its segment. For daily driving, the Eco mode offers good fuel economy. In our week-long test under mixed road conditions, the fuel consumption came to about 7.2L/100km, which is close to the official figure of 7L.
In terms of handling, the steering wheel has a moderate feel with minimal slack, offering precise steering. The chassis features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link independent rear suspension, tuned for comfort. It absorbs shocks effectively when driving over speed bumps or uneven roads, minimizing vibrations felt inside the car. While cornering, the vehicle’s body roll is well-controlled, providing good stability. As for noise control, wind noise and tire noise are not significant during high-speed driving. Engine noise becomes slightly more noticeable during rapid acceleration, but it remains quiet during normal cruising.
The safety configuration is one of Tiggo 7 Pro's highlights. It comes standard with 7 airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, and an L2-level driving assistance system, including ACC adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The 360-degree panoramic camera has high clarity, allowing the driver to clearly see the surroundings when parking, which is very friendly for beginners. In addition, convenient features like keyless entry, one-touch start, and an electric tailgate are all included, making daily use very hassle-free.
Compared with competitors in the same class, such as the Honda HR-V or Toyota Corolla Cross, Tiggo 7 Pro stands out in terms of features. The 24.6-inch dual screens, Sony audio system, and ventilated seats are either available only in higher trims or not available at all in comparable models. In terms of price, the 123,800 RM price tag is also more wallet-friendly than its competitors. Coupled with a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty, it offers great value for money.
Overall, the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a highly balanced C-segment SUV with adequate power, rich configurations, practical space, and competitive pricing. It's suitable for families who value cost performance and features, or young individuals who have just started working and are looking for a vehicle that balances family and personal driving needs. If you're looking for an SUV that is well-equipped, powerful, reliable, and easy to maintain, the Tiggo 7 Pro is worth considering.
