The C-segment pure electric SUV market in Malaysia is gradually becoming a new choice for family users. The 2024 Neta X 400 Comfort is entering this niche market at a price of RM119,888, with key selling points focusing on "balanced configuration" and "practical range." This test drive will focus on the car’s static design, dynamic performance, and everyday practicality to see if it can meet family users' needs for space, features, and reliability.

In terms of appearance, this car adopts an overall rounded and smooth design style. The front features a closed grille paired with continuous LED daytime running lights, offering high recognizability. The body side lines extend from the front to the rear, achieving a harmonious proportion. The 225/60 R18 tire specification pairs well with the body, avoiding a sense of undersizing. At the rear, the continuous LED tail lights below the spoiler echo the headlights at the front, providing a sharp visual effect when illuminated, while the rear fog lights are embedded on both sides of the bumper, balancing practicality with aesthetics. The lighting system comes standard with LEDs across all variants, and features like automatic headlights are included, ensuring convenience for daily use.

Stepping inside, the interior mainly uses a dark color palette with a layered design for the dashboard. The upper portion is covered with soft-touch materials, which feel decent to the touch. The 15.6-inch floating central touchscreen is the visual centerpiece, supporting touch operations with a good response speed. The multifunctional steering wheel incorporates cruise control buttons on the left and multimedia/phone control functions on the right, showcasing a logical layout. As for seating, both the driver and front passenger seats support 6-way electric adjustment, with cushioning that is moderately soft, making long-term seating less tiring. The rear seats support a 60:40 split fold-down configuration, which can expand the trunk space to accommodate larger items. Features like automatic air conditioning, rear air vents, a 360-degree panoramic camera, and rain-sensing wipers are all standard, aligning with the expected level for this price range.

In terms of space, the car measures 4619mm×1860mm×1628mm, with a wheelbase of 2770mm. For front-row seating, a 175cm-tall individual has about a fist and two fingers of headroom, with ample legroom. For the rear row, legroom exceeds two fists, and headroom is about a fist, meeting the daily riding needs of families. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 508L, which can still accommodate two 28-inch suitcases with space to spare, demonstrating strong practicality. For storage, the door panel slots can hold water bottles, the central armrest compartment has considerable depth, and the front cup holders feature limiters, demonstrating thoughtful design for daily use scenarios.

In terms of dynamic performance, this car is equipped with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum power of 120kW (163PS) and peak torque of 210N·m, paired with a single-speed transmission. During acceleration, the power response is quick, with noticeable thrust achieved by lightly pressing the accelerator pedal. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 9.5 seconds, meeting requirements for city commutes and highway overtaking. Driving modes include Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Eco mode, the power output is relatively smooth, making it suitable for daily urban commuting, while in Sport mode, the throttle response is more sensitive with more direct power output.

The chassis uses a combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear multi-link independent suspension, with a tuning bias towards comfort. When going over speed bumps or bumpy roads, the suspension effectively filters out most vibrations, keeping the body stable; when cornering, the body roll is controlled within a reasonable range, not causing noticeable discomfort to passengers. The steering wheel has moderate effort, minimal slack, and decent precision, making daily driving relatively easy.

In terms of range and energy consumption, the official pure electric range is 401km, with a battery capacity of 51.8kWh. During this test drive, approximately 100km was driven on urban roads with the air conditioning set to 24°C, resulting in an average energy consumption of about 14kWh/100km and a range achievement rate of approximately 85%, showing a mediocre performance. Under fast charging mode, it can charge from 30% to 80% within 30 minutes, while slow charging takes 9 hours, meeting different charging needs.

Regarding driving comfort, the vehicle performs well in controlling tire and wind noise, with only slight wind noise heard in the front row at high speeds, not affecting in-car conversations. The seat's wrapping is average, but the support is sufficient, providing a decent long-distance ride experience. The energy recovery system offers different levels of adjustment. At the highest level, releasing the accelerator pedal creates a noticeable drag effect, reducing the frequency of using the brakes; at lower levels, it mimics the driving feel of fuel vehicles, accommodating users with different driving habits.

In terms of safety features, 6 airbags, vehicle stability control, front and rear radars, 360-degree panoramic view, hill-start assist, and other features are all standard, while the battery comes with an 8-year or 180,000km warranty, providing users with some level of assurance.

Overall, the 2024 Neta X 400 Comfort performs well in configuration, space, and power balance, with a price of MYR 119,888 making it cost-effective among the same class of pure electric SUVs. Compared to competitors in the same price range, it has a longer wheelbase with an advantage in rear space and comes with rich standard features, making it suitable for families focused on space and practicality.

In summary, the 2024 Neta X 400 Comfort is a well-balanced C-class pure electric SUV, suitable for daily commuting, family trips, and other scenarios. If you have a budget of around MYR 120,000 and are looking for a family car with balanced space, configuration, and range practicality, this vehicle is worth considering.

Drove the Neta X 400 Comfort for three months, overtakes effortlessly during morning rush hours, and the rear row can seat three friends with room for their knees to move around. Fast charging restores power in half an hour, and on weekends it can carry camping gear with its 508L trunk fully packed. However, slow charging takes 9 hours, so you need to plug it in the night before. But for just over 120,000 yuan with this configuration, it's worth it!

Last week, I took my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after passing the toll gate, we encountered a heavy rainstorm. The automatic rain-sensing wipers worked steadily, and the 360-degree cameras made the wet road surface clearly visible. The power was sufficient for climbing slopes, but it felt a bit sluggish during sudden acceleration. The child in the back seat fell asleep, and the ISOFIX interface is securely fastened, giving a reassuring feeling with the 6 airbags. On the way back, a fast charge of half an hour restored 80% of the battery, just enough to handle the traffic in the city and get us home. The 156mm ground clearance managed potholes without scraping the bottom, but the child frowned from the bumps in the rear seat after going over speed bumps. Safety gets 5 points, performance loses 1 point, but it's sufficient for daily use.

As a 2024 Neta X 400 Comfort owner, after driving in Malaysia for three months, I am overall quite satisfied. Appearance: 4 points, with smooth lines and bright LED headlights on rainy days in Kuala Lumpur, but the rear design is somewhat ordinary. Safety: 4 points, featuring 6 airbags + 360-degree images. During the morning peak traffic on Jalan Ampang, the radar and imaging system made parallel parking much easier than my previous fuel car. On weekends, I took my family to Genting; the cruise control on the highway was stable, and the 401km range was sufficient for a round trip. However, fast charging to 80% takes half an hour, and it's necessary to compete for a spot at rest stop charging stations. A minor drawback: while the 15.6-inch central control screen is large, it reflects sunlight considerably. Nevertheless, priced at RM119k, it offers excellent value for a C-segment EV, making it suitable for city commuting and short trips.

Last week, I took my family for an outing at the foot of Yun Ding Mountain, and encountered heavy rain and steep slopes on the return journey. The 6 airbags and vehicle stability system of the Neta X gave me peace of mind. The acceleration on slippery roads did not skid, and the power of 9.5 seconds to break 100 km/h made climbing effortless. The 15.6-inch central control screen had clear navigation, and the rear air conditioning was cool enough. The only small regret is that the exterior is conventional and lacks a bit of design flair. The 401km range is sufficient for urban commuting, and fast charging supplements energy conveniently in half an hour.
