Leapmotor B10 Review

As Malaysia's C-segment SUV market gradually shifts towards new energy, there are quite a few pure electric options in the price range of RM100,000 to RM120,000. However, options that balance features, range, and driving comfort are relatively rare. The 2025 Leapmotor B10 LIFE, as the entry-level version, is priced at RM107,800 and comes standard with L2 level driving assistance, a 360-degree camera, and airbags throughout the vehicle. Its launch has attracted considerable attention from family users. This time, we got hold of the actual car to focus on testing its daily practicality, power performance, and whether its range truly "meets users' needs," to see if it can become the go-to option in this price range.
The B10 LIFE features a simple and robust design for its exterior, with a closed grille on the front combined with a through-type LED daytime running light. The Leapmotor logo is embedded in the middle, providing decent recognition. The side profile features lines extending from the front to the rear of the vehicle. While the waistline is not overly exaggerated, it adds a sense of ruggedness. The 18-inch wheels have a conventional design that fits its family-oriented positioning. The rear features through-type LED taillights with a smoked-out effect, offering clear visibility when lit. The silver skid plate under the rear bumper adds a hint of SUV off-road style. The overall design is not too fancy and leans towards a timeless look, which suits the aesthetic preferences of most family users.
Inside the car, the interior is mainly black. The dashboard is covered with soft materials, which may not feel very refined but are acceptable for this price range. The 14.6-inch center console screen is the visual focal point, offering high resolution and smooth operation. It supports commonly used functions such as navigation, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity. The instrument panel is an 8.8-inch LCD screen that displays clear information, including speed, range, and driving assistance status. HUD (head-up display) is standard, allowing drivers to view speed and navigation info without lowering their heads, making daily driving more convenient. The seats are made of fabric, with the driver's seat supporting 6-way manual adjustment and the passenger seat supporting 4-way manual adjustment. The adjustment range can accommodate most body types. The rear space is impressive, with a 2735mm wheelbase providing ample legroom. A passenger measuring 175cm tall can sit with two fist lengths between their knees and the front seats, and there is about one fist of headroom. The rear row is equipped with independent air conditioning vents and two USB ports, making it highly practical. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 430L, which can be expanded to 1700L by folding down the rear seats, enough to fit a stroller or large luggage.
In terms of power, the B10 LIFE is equipped with a rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 160kW (218PS) and a maximum torque of 240N·m, with an official range of 442km. During daily driving, the start-up response is very quick, and pressing the accelerator pedal delivers a noticeable sense of thrust. It performs nimbly when overtaking or changing lanes in the city. Switching to Sport mode makes the power output even more direct, and it doesn't feel sluggish when accelerating again at 100km/h on the highway, fully capable of handling highway cruising. Its rear-wheel-drive layout provides better handling than front-wheel-drive SUVs, with precise and responsive steering, minimal play, light steering at low speeds, and stable handling at high speeds. The chassis adopts a front MacPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension, with a calibration leaning towards comfort. It filters out most bumps when going over speed bumps or uneven roads, avoiding any harsh stiffness. The car remains stable during highway driving, and body roll is well controlled when cornering, ensuring passengers don’t feel uneasy.
We focused on testing the endurance performance, driving 100km each in congested urban roads and highways with the air conditioning set to 24℃ automatic mode throughout. The power consumption was approximately 14kWh/100km in urban roads and 16kWh/100km on highways. Overall, the endurance achievement rate was about 85%, meaning that with the official range of 442km, it could realistically run about 375km, which is entirely sufficient for a week of daily commuting. Fast charging from 30% to 80% took only 21 minutes, while slow charging completed in 2.5 hours, making the energy replenishment very convenient. As for noise control, at speeds below 60km/h, the electric motor noise was barely audible. At highway speeds of 120km/h, wind noise and tire noise were more noticeable but remained within an acceptable range and did not affect conversations inside the car.
In summary, the 2025 Leapmotor B10 LIFE has prominent core advantages: at a price point of 100,000 RMB, it comes standard with L2-level driving assistance, full vehicle safety airbags, and an HUD. Its configuration is more comprehensive than the entry-level BYD Atto 3 at the same price. Its 2735mm wheelbase provides a spacious rear compartment, and its trunk offers strong expandability, maximizing practicality. With an endurance achievement rate of 85% and fast energy replenishment, daily use is worry-free. Compared to the same segment models, its primary selling points are configuration and space, making it suitable for families with limited budgets who prioritize practicality and safety, especially those who frequently travel with elderly members or children. If you’re looking for a pure electric SUV that is well-equipped, spacious, easy to drive, and worry-free, the B10 LIFE deserves to be on your shortlist.
