The competition in the luxury SUV market has never stopped. Consumers are seeking top-notch comfort along with the performance of sports cars — the 2025 Bentley Bentayga Speed precisely addresses this demand pain point. As the performance flagship of the Bentayga family, it not only retains Bentley's iconic luxurious quality but also boosts the 4.0T V8 twin-turbo engine to 650PS, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds. This "violent gentleman" setup makes me eager to personally test its actual performance. The core of this test drive is to verify how it balances its dual identity as both a "luxury ride" and a "performance beast."

At first glance, the Bentayga Speed clearly differs from the standard version. Its overall dimensions of 5144mm×2222mm×1728mm and a wheelbase of 2995mm maintain the imposing presence of a large luxury SUV, but the details make it sportier: the front has been upgraded with a blacked-out matrix grille, paired with sharply designed LED headlights on both sides, and the lower front lip features carbon fiber accents. The side profile boasts sleek lines, with 22-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels featuring a glossy black finish, and the wheel arches and side skirts accentuate a more aggressive look. At the rear, the standout feature is the dual-sided quad circular exhaust layout, complemented by blacked-out LED taillights, elevating its recognizability to the maximum. The lighting system comes standard with LED sources, including auto headlights, daytime running lights, and front and rear fog lights, seamlessly combining practicality with ceremonial appeal.

Stepping inside, Bentley's luxury vibe greets you instantly. The interior is primarily composed of leather and wooden panels, with all touchpoints wrapped in soft-touch materials and impeccable craftsmanship. The symmetrical center console integrates a 10.9-inch touchscreen with high resolution, featuring smooth operation and support for CarPlay and Android Auto. The front seats have 16-way electric adjustment with heating and memory functions, providing excellent support for both the backrest and cushion, ensuring comfort even on long journeys. The rear seats also feature 16-way electric adjustment, independent climate vents, and power outlets, ensuring three passengers can sit comfortably without feeling cramped. The 2995mm wheelbase provides a spacious rear legroom, leaving about two fist-widths of space for a 180cm passenger sitting in the back. The trunk capacity is 484 liters, sufficient for daily luggage, and can be expanded by folding down the rear seats, offering adequate practicality. A panoramic sunroof and electric sunshades come as standard, providing excellent interior lighting when opened, which also enhances the rear passengers' sense of openness.

Pressing the start button, the low rumble of the 4.0T V8 twin-turbo engine is deep and subdued, but you can clearly feel the ample power reserves. Official data boasts 650PS horsepower and 850N·m torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The power response is very direct. In Sport mode, the throttle pedal becomes significantly more sensitive, providing strong pushback during acceleration. The 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.6 seconds is proven to be no exaggeration — even with a vehicle weight of 3 tons, pressing the throttle hard during overtaking prompts the transmission to downshift quickly, delivering power on demand, effortlessly reaching speeds above 160km/h on highways. Using the Comfort mode for everyday driving, the power delivery becomes smoother, ideal for city commuting without any abrupt surging.

In terms of handling, the Bentayga Speed performs beyond expectations. Despite its large body, the air suspension provides ample support, controlling body roll well when cornering. The steering is precise with minimal play, instilling a strong sense of confidence. On bumpy roads, the air suspension filters out most of the fine vibrations, and even when going over speed bumps, there is no significant jolt, balancing sportiness and comfort. The all-wheel drive system performs stably on slippery surfaces, with no slipping during starts and acceleration. As for fuel consumption, it averages around 14-15L/100km in urban conditions and drops to about 10L on highways. Considering its power and weight, this fuel economy is reasonable.

The driving and riding comfort details are well-executed. The cabin's sound insulation is excellent, with minimal wind and tire noise during high-speed driving. Only when the accelerator is pressed deeply does a slight engine growl become audible. The seat offers a perfect balance between support and softness, ensuring comfort even during long rides. The Bentley Signature audio system delivers clear sound quality with steady bass, providing a good immersive experience when listening to music.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2025 Bentley Bentayga Speed are outstanding: it combines top-tier luxury interiors and comfort features with performance comparable to sports cars, all while maintaining space and practicality. Compared to its competitors in the same class, its power output surpasses that of the Mercedes GLS 63 AMG, and its luxurious interior rivals that of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan (albeit at a considerably lower price), making its value for money relatively high among top luxury SUVs.

This car is suitable for two types of people: those who love luxury but don't want to compromise on performance, such as entrepreneurs or executives who wish to have a prestigious daily commuter vehicle and occasionally enjoy the thrill of speed on highways; and wealthy families who prioritize practicality, as its spacious interior and comfortable rear seats are ideal for family outings.

In conclusion, the 2025 Bentley Bentayga Speed is a “versatile” luxury SUV. It can serve as a comfortable executive vehicle, a fierce performance car, and even a family-friendly option. If you have the budget and want a car that combines luxury, performance, and practicality, it’s definitely worth considering.

As the owner of the 2025 Bentayga Speed, driving it in Malaysia for three months feels truly "luxurious and bold." Previously, I was driving a Cayenne Turbo S, and upgrading was all for Bentley's perfect balance of luxury and performance — the interior deserves a solid 4 points, with its hand-stitched craftsmanship and impeccable leather texture, though the 10.9-inch screen is a bit smaller compared to the new Range Rover. However, the Bentley logo itself is worth it. Safety gets a full 5 points; during Kuala Lumpur's morning rush hour, the lane change assist and 360-degree cameras saved me from several collisions. Appearance gets 4 points; the 22-inch wheels paired with LED lights achieve a head-turning effect along the Penang coastline. As for downsides, weighing 3 tons means frequent fuel stops with an 85L tank when driving on the East Coast Highway. However, the 3.6-second acceleration from zero to 100 km/h makes overtaking on the North-South Expressway incredibly satisfying. On weekends, taking the family to Genting was a breeze — the air suspension's shock absorption is superb, and even the elders in the backseat didn’t get carsick.

No need to wait for the right moment to overtake during the morning rush hour, just step on it and you've got 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.6 seconds; even with three people squeezing in the back, it doesn't feel cramped, and the trunk can fit the whole family's weekend camping gear. Turn on the Bentley sound system, and even getting stuck in traffic feels enjoyable. As for the fuel consumption... press the pedal a bit harder and you'll see the fuel gauge drop quickly, but hey, it's all about the thrill!

Last week, I took my family to Cameron Highlands. It was pouring rain as we entered the mountain, but the 22-inch tires rolled through the water as steady as a rock—the thrust of the 4.0T V8 was released and harnessed smoothly in the curves, and the air suspension filtered out the bumps of the mountain road, even lulling the kids in the back seat to sleep. However, the stitching of the leather seats occasionally poked my back, and the 16-way adjustment didn't completely accommodate my old waist—minus one point. But when sunlight streamed through the panoramic sunroof and jazz music flowed from the Bentley sound system, and my wife said this was more comfortable than staying at a hotel, I felt it was all worth it.

This morning, driving through the flooded water during the heavy rain, the steering wheel felt as steady as if welded to my hands, giving an overwhelming sense of security!
