Specs

In Malaysia's B-Segment SUV market, balanced space, practical features, and affordable prices have always been the core needs of consumers. The recently unveiled 2025 Perodua Traz H targets this specific market segment, highlighting its comprehensive intelligent safety features and optimized spatial performance as key selling points. This time, through a test drive with the actual vehicle, let's see if it can stand out in this highly competitive market.

In terms of exterior design, the Traz H maintains the tough styling of the Perodua family. The front features a large blacked-out grille, paired with sharp LED headlights on both sides. The seamless connection between the lamps and grille enhances the visual width. The side profile showcases straight lines, with a waistline extending from the fender to the rear, adding a sense of power. The combination of 17-inch alloy wheels and 215/60 R17 tires not only ensures good clearance but also provides better side proportions. At the rear, the LED tail lights are designed in a through-type style, with the Perodua logo embedded in the middle, offering high recognition when lit at night. The silver skid plate at the bottom of the rear bumper adds a rugged SUV vibe.

Inside the cabin, the interior of the Traz H is dominated by dark tones. The dashboard is covered with soft-touch plastic, accented with silver trim, providing a texture that ranks above average for its class. The center console layout is simple, featuring a 9-inch multimedia touchscreen in the center. It supports Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone mirroring, with decent operational smoothness. Physical buttons for air conditioning are retained below, allowing for easy blind operation during driving. The instrument cluster includes a 4.2-inch TFT color screen, clearly displaying speed, fuel consumption, and safety system status information, making data easy to read. In terms of features, keyless entry, one-touch start, automatic air conditioning, and rear air vents are all standard. The front seats are manually adjustable, with cushions and backrests that are slightly on the soft side, providing comfortable long-term seating.

Space performance matches the positioning of a B-Segment SUV. The dimensions are 4310mm/1770mm/1655mm (L/W/H) with a wheelbase of 2620mm. When seated in the front row, a 175cm tall passenger has a headroom clearance of one fist and two fingers. Similarly, at the rear, when seated by a 175cm tall passenger, legroom is two fists, and headroom is one fist, making it suitable for regular family use. The trunk offers a standard capacity of 471L, which can be further expanded by folding down the rear seats to accommodate strollers or large suitcases. Interior storage space is abundant, with front door panels able to hold two water bottles, a central armrest box with moderate depth, and a rear armrest featuring cup holders.

In the power department, the Traz H is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, delivering a maximum output of 106PS/6000rpm and a peak torque of 138N·m/4200rpm, paired with a CVT transmission. For daily driving, power output at the start is smooth, suitable for urban conditions. After accelerating to 60km/h, power responsiveness improves. For overtaking, pressing the accelerator deeper allows the transmission to simulate gear shifts, with the engine revving above 4000rpm to provide sufficient power reserves. The vehicle offers only two driving modes: Eco and Normal. The Eco mode lowers throttle sensitivity, ideal for fuel-efficient cruising, while the Normal mode is better suited for daily commutes.

The handling and chassis performance are geared towards comfort. The combination of front MacPherson + rear double wishbone independent suspension can filter out most small vibrations when passing speed bumps or uneven roads, making the rear passengers feel minimal jolts. The steering feel is light with minimal play, making it very flexible for urban commuting or parking; at high speeds, the steering wheel becomes slightly heavier, enhancing stability. The vehicle's minimum ground clearance of 215mm provides better off-road capability compared to regular sedans when facing suburban unpaved roads.

Safety features are the highlight of the Traz H, with standard 6 airbags (including knee airbags), ABS, vehicle stability control, blind-spot assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and more, offering comprehensive safety performance. Regarding fuel consumption, the urban test recorded approximately 7.5L/100km, while on highways it was about 6.2L/100km, aligning with the level of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. Noise control is average, with wind and tire noise entering the cabin at high speeds, but within an acceptable range.

Overall, the core advantages of the 2025 Perodua Traz H lie in its comprehensive safety configurations, practical space, and balanced driving performance. Compared to competitors in the same class, its safety features are more advanced, and the price (RM 81,100) maintains Perodua's tradition of affordability. It is suitable for consumers who prioritize safety and need a family vehicle for daily commuting, especially those with a budget around RM 80,000 who also seek to balance urban commutes and occasional suburban trips.

All in all, the Traz H is a B-segment SUV with no significant weaknesses. It focuses on safety as its core selling point while meeting the family needs for space and practicality, making it a worthy choice in this segment.

Pros
1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT gearbox, smooth start in the city without jerking, sufficient power for climbing Genting
High recognition LED headlights and taillights, well-received exterior design, decent return rate in parking lots
Simple and practical interior, 9-inch central control screen operates smoothly, Bluetooth/CarPlay connectivity is stable
Cons
The interior is mostly plastic, and the hard plastic texture in front of the co-driver is average, lacking soft wrapping to enhance the texture.
The side lines of the car body are ordinary, without sporty surround, and the visual effect is not outstanding.
Front seat material issues: the leather is relatively hard and can hurt the lower back, while the fabric is easy to get dirty and requires frequent cleaning.

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of a 2025 Perodua Traz H, after driving it for almost two months, I must say its daily use in Malaysia fits my needs perfectly! Giving 4 stars for the interior is quite reasonable—its overall design is simple and practical, the 9-inch infotainment screen operates smoothly, even my mom, who’s not very tech-savvy, can quickly connect to Bluetooth and play music. However, the amount of plastic is indeed a bit much, especially the hard plastic piece in front of the passenger seat, which feels somewhat cheap to the touch. If they could add some soft padding there, it would be even more perfect. Performance absolutely deserves 5 stars! The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with the CVT gearbox provides a very smooth start in Kuala Lumpur's traffic, and the accelerator doesn’t feel jerkily responsive; last week, I drove up to Genting Highlands, and the climbing power was surprisingly sufficient. Overtaking didn’t feel strenuous at all, completely dispelling my initial concern about it being "underpowered." Giving 4 stars for the exterior is just right—the LED headlights and taillights have high recognition, and last weekend when I parked at Port Klang by the beach, it got a decent amount of attention. However, the side profile design is a bit plain. If they could add a sporty body kit, the visual appeal would be much enhanced. Overall, as a family car, the Traz H performs very reliably on Malaysian roads, with incredible value for money!

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz H, after driving for three months in Malaysia, what I want to praise most is its appearance! Every time I park at the Lotus supermarket entrance or near KLCC, people always turn their heads to look—the car’s body lines are particularly smooth, especially the LED taillights. At night, in the traffic on Jalan Ampang, its recognition is super high. The red light strip looks like a small glow strip, and my friends all say, "You can recognize your car at a glance." I’d give the interior 4 points because the overall feel is really nice, but there are some minor regrets in the details. For example, the soft material on the center console feels very comfortable to the touch, and the 9-inch touchscreen works clearly when navigating for food spots in George Town, Penang; however, the leather on the front seats is slightly hard. Last week, I drove my family to Genting Highlands, and after the two-hour drive, the lumbar support area felt a bit uncomfortable. But luckily, the storage space is quite ample—the door panels can fit my son's water bottle and umbrella, and the center armrest box can hold a few snack packs, which is completely sufficient for everyday use. Overall, the appearance is definitely a full-score contender, and the interior would be perfect if the seats were a bit softer!

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz H, having driven it in Malaysia for almost three months, I feel quite satisfied with its safety features and interior. Giving safety a score of 4 seems reasonable, as it comes standard with six airbags, lane departure warning, and autonomous emergency braking. Last time on the LDP highway, the car in front of me suddenly braked sharply, and before I could react, the autonomous emergency braking kicked in. It startled me but really saved the day — sudden lane changes or hard braking often happen on Malaysian highways, and this system truly serves as a safety net. However, one minor drawback is the lack of a 360-degree camera system. Sometimes when reversing on those narrow alleys in KL city center, I still have to rely on being extra cautious myself. Adding that feature would make it perfect. I also give the interior a score of 4. The overall craftsmanship is much more refined compared to previous Perodua models. The 9-inch central control screen is quite responsive and connects to CarPlay smoothly. When I'm stuck in traffic on Jalan Bukit Bintang, music and navigation run without any lag. The automatic air conditioning and rear air vents are very practical. With Malaysia's hot weather, passengers in the backseat won’t feel stuffy. However, the seats are fabric, which, while breathable, tend to get dirty easily. I’ve already bought covers to replace them, but having a leather option would have been better. Overall, with such safety features and interior quality at this price point, I think it’s worth it.

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz H, after driving it in Malaysia for almost two months, the overall experience has been pretty good! Let's talk about the performance first, I think giving it 4 stars is reasonable—its 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT is smooth when starting in Kuala Lumpur's traffic jams, without any sudden jerks, making it easy to follow other cars; on weekends, when taking the family to the foot of the Genting Highlands, although it’s not as powerful as a turbocharged car, pressing the accelerator firmly still gradually provides enough power, which is fully adequate for daily use. The chassis has a front MacPherson strut and a rear double wishbone; when driving over LDP highway joints or bumpy village roads, the shock absorption is much better than my previous Myvi, ensuring a comfortable ride without jarring bumps, which is really a bonus on Malaysia's complex road conditions. As for the interior, I would also give it 4 stars. The materials used are better than expected; the parts of the center console that you can touch are all soft-touch materials, unlike some cars in the same price range that use hard plastics all over. The 9-inch infotainment screen responds pretty quickly, and using CarPlay for navigation to Petaling Street is very convenient; the rear air conditioning vents are family-friendly as well—considering Malaysia’s hot weather, it keeps the rear passengers from feeling stuffy. However, there is a small regret—the front seats are fabric-made, which, although breathable, tend to get dusty easily and need frequent cleaning. Overall, considering its performance at this price point, I’m very satisfied!
