In Malaysia's B-Segment SUV market, consumer attention to feature richness and value-for-money continues to rise. As a popular model in this segment, the 2025 Proton X50 Executive version further enhances its intelligent features and performance while maintaining its original advantages. Our main objective with this test drive is to evaluate its actual performance in daily usage scenarios, to see if the upgraded features are genuinely practical and whether its power output meets the needs of family users.

In terms of appearance, the 2025 X50 Executive retains the family-style design, with sleek and sporty overall lines. The front end features a large-sized grille paired with chrome trims, offering high recognition; the sharp LED headlights on both sides are integrated with the grille, creating a unified look that enhances the visual width. The car's side uses a dual waistline design extending from the front fender to the rear, paired with 17-inch wheels to enhance the layering effect of the side profile. At the rear, the LED tail lights have a through-type design, which looks striking when illuminated; the diffuser-style shape at the bottom and the dual exhaust layout on both sides add a touch of sportiness to the overall vehicle.

Inside, the interior adopts black as the main color, accented with silver trims, giving a simple and elegant style. In terms of materials, the top of the dashboard is wrapped in soft-touch materials, offering a pleasant tactile experience. The centerpiece of the interior is the 14.6-inch central touchscreen, whose size is a significant advantage among competitors, and its operational smoothness is commendable. The instrument panel is a full 8.88-inch LCD, clearly displaying information such as speed, rpm, and fuel consumption, with a reasonably laid-out interface. In terms of features, keyless entry, push-button start, multifunction steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, and rear air conditioning vents all come as standard, significantly enhancing daily convenience. The seats are manually adjustable but provide decent support and wrapping. The rear seats can be folded in a 60:40 split to expand trunk space further.

Regarding space, the 2025 X50 Executive has a wheelbase of 2600mm, with a length, width, and height of 4380mm × 1795mm × 1609mm, making it a mainstream size in the B-Segment SUV category. The front seating area is spacious; when adjusted for a 175cm tall passenger, there’s still a fist’s worth of headroom. The rear legroom is about two fists, while the headroom is one fist, sufficiently meeting the needs of family trips. In terms of storage capacity, the trunk offers a standard volume of 330L, which can be expanded by folding the rear seats, allowing for the placement of a stroller or luggage. Additionally, practical designs such as the front central armrest storage box and door panel storage compartments can hold items like phones, water bottles, and other small objects.

In the power department, the 2025 X50 Executive is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 181PS and a maximum torque of 290N·m, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. During actual driving, the power response is brisk at the start, with a noticeable push-back feeling even with light throttle. The acceleration is smooth, with adequate power reserves in the mid-to-high range. When overtaking, a deep press on the accelerator prompts the transmission to shift down promptly, providing continuous power output. The driving modes include Economic, Standard, and Sport. The Sport mode enhances throttle sensitivity, catering to users seeking driving fun, while the Economic mode focuses more on fuel efficiency, suitable for daily commutes.

In terms of handling and chassis performance, the steering wheel is precise with minimal play, offering a light and effortless feel, making it stress-free for female drivers as well. The combination of a front MacPherson independent suspension and a rear torsion beam non-independent suspension performs decently on bumpy roads, filtering out most of the small vibrations. When traversing speed bumps or uneven sections, the suspension rebounds crisply without excess wobbling. During cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, and the chassis stability is commendable, giving the driver ample confidence.

As for fuel consumption, we tested under mixed driving conditions (approximately 60% city roads and 40% highways), and the fuel consumption was around 7.2L per 100 kilometers. This result is at the upper-middle level among similar 1.5T models, meeting family users' needs for fuel economy. Noise control performs well, with minimal engine noise and tire noise during driving. Although wind noise becomes slightly noticeable at high speeds, it does not affect normal conversations.

In terms of safety features, the 2025 Proton X50 Executive is equipped as standard with 6 airbags, ABS anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control, lane-change assist, ACC adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera. Its safety features are among the best in its class. The inclusion of 6 airbags and vehicle stability control further enhances the passive safety performance of the vehicle.

To summarize, the core advantages of the 2025 Proton X50 Executive lie in its oversized infotainment screen, abundant smart features, robust power output, and reliable safety performance. Compared to similar models like the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross, the X50 Executive offers better value for money in terms of features and pricing. With a price tag of 89,800 MYR, the vehicle's rich features make it highly appealing.

This car is suitable for family users who prioritize configuration, power, and value for money, particularly those who need to cater to both daily commuting and family outings. It can meet daily commuting needs and also handle weekend family trips, providing adequate space and power. If you're looking for a well-equipped, powerful, and affordably priced B-segment SUV, the 2025 Proton X50 Executive is worth considering.

Owner of 2025 Proton X50 Executive
As the owner of a 2025 Proton X50 Executive who has been driving in Malaysia for three months, I am most satisfied with the interior and safety features! Starting with the interior, the 14.6-inch central control screen is really rare among local B-segment SUVs, with high clarity and smooth operation. When stuck in traffic in KL, watching YouTube or using CarPlay for navigation is super convenient. The seats are a mix of fabric and leather, and even in Malaysia's hot weather, it doesn't feel stuffy to sit on. The rear row also has air conditioning vents, and when taking the family to Genting Highlands, the elderly and children in the back found it very comfortable. The safety features are even more reassuring! With so many highways in Malaysia, the ACC adaptive cruise control is extremely useful. Driving from Kuala Lumpur to Penang, I didn’t have to constantly press the accelerator, making it much more relaxing. Six airbags and stability control are standard features. Once, on the LDP highway, a car suddenly changed lanes, and the autonomous emergency braking system intervened directly, helping me avoid a collision. It makes me shudder to think about it now. There are also front and rear sensors and a reversing camera, which make parking in narrow parking lots in Kuala Lumpur manageable even for beginners. In short, these two aspects have really not disappointed me, totally worth the price!

As the owner of the 2025 Proton X50 Executive for almost three months in Malaysia, I am overall quite satisfied with the experience! In terms of performance, the combination of the 1.5T turbo engine and 7DCT performs exceptionally well during Kuala Lumpur's busy morning rush hours — smooth following at low speeds and responsive acceleration when overtaking suddenly on the LDP highway. A deep press of the accelerator lets you feel the 290N·m torque unleash, making overtaking very seamless. However, on congested roads like Jalan Tun Razak with frequent stop-and-go traffic, the gearbox occasionally exhibits slight jerking. It's not a major issue but it's there. The interior is very user-friendly, and the 14.6-inch central control screen is considered very large for the B-segment. When navigating to Petaling Street, the route display is extremely clear. The automatic air conditioning cools down quickly in Malaysia's 35℃ heat, and the rear air vents also take care of the family. The only drawback is that the passenger seat is still manually adjustable, which makes long-haul adjustments slightly inconvenient. The safety features are very reassuring. With six airbags and ACC adaptive cruise control, it was very helpful during long drives on the North-South Expressway. It maintained a stable following distance and braked promptly in emergencies. Last week in the narrow streets of George Town, Penang, the precise prompts from the reverse radar and camera helped avoid scraping against parked motorcycles nearby. The exterior design is visually appealing. The LED headlights are bright enough when driving on rural roads at night, and the body lines make it stand out in crowded parking lots. Friends have remarked that it looks more refined than the older version. Overall, for the price of RM89,800, being able to get such features is truly worth it for family use in Malaysia. It meets all my expectations across four dimensions!

As the owner of a 2025 Proton X50 Executive, after driving for three months in Malaysia, I genuinely feel it's worth every penny! I would give the exterior full marks — the LED headlights and taillights stand out brilliantly in the evening rain and mist of Kuala Lumpur, and the streamlined body turns heads while cruising through the old streets of George Town, Penang. My friends all say it's more refined than the older version. The interior deserves a solid 5 stars as well! The 14.6-inch central control screen provides super clear navigation during road trips in Sabah, and the automatic air conditioning cools down extremely fast on 35°C scorching days. The rear air vents were a lifesaver for my parents sitting in the back. The 60:40 split seats were incredibly practical; last week, when taking my family to Genting Highlands, I folded down one side and fit in three large suitcases — both practical and comfortable. As for safety, I’d rate it 4 stars. Overall, I’m satisfied. The 6 airbags and ACC adaptive cruise control were a great help during long drives along the North-South Expressway, with the automatic following feature reducing fatigue. However, there was one time on Ipoh’s winding mountain roads when the stability control system reacted slightly slower during a sharp turn. Although nothing happened, it would be perfect if its response were quicker. Overall, for a family car on Malaysian road conditions, the safety features are more than sufficient!

As the owner of a 2025 Proton X50 Executive, I’ve been driving in Malaysia for three months, and the more I drive, the more I love it! Let’s talk about the interior first. The 14.6-inch central control screen is considered extremely large for locally-made B-segment cars, and every time I get in, it feels so high-tech. The air conditioning controls, navigation, and music can all be operated via touch, and the response is super quick. It’s super convenient to tune into a local radio station during traffic jams. The rear air conditioner is also very practical; in Kuala Lumpur’s summer, when taking the family out, the back seats don’t feel stuffy. The seat fabric feels comfortable to the touch and doesn’t get stuffy even after sitting for a long time. The safety features make me feel at ease as well. Last month on the North-South Highway, I encountered a sudden situation where I needed to brake urgently, and the vehicle stability system intervened immediately, keeping the car stable and stopping without skidding. With 6 airbags and safety belt reminders throughout the car, taking kids out with the ISOFIX anchor points, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about. The ACC adaptive cruise control is amazing on the highway—driving from KL to Penang, I didn’t have to keep my foot on the pedal the whole time. The front radar also helped me avoid several sudden motorbikes darting out from the roadside. As for the exterior, the LED headlights and taillights look especially striking on Jalan Ampang at dusk. The car body features smooth lines, and every time I park at Lalaport, people turn to take a second look. My friends all say it’s more stylish than the old model, and driving it around makes me feel super proud!
