The B-segment SUV market has been consistently booming locally in recent years. Family users desire the flexibility of a compact body while pursuing spacious interior and high ground clearance. The 2025 Perodua Traz is designed to meet these demands. As the brand's newly introduced SUV series, Traz highlights advanced safety features and a 210mm ground clearance as its key selling points. This time, we focus on test driving the Traz X version to see if it meets the dual expectations of practicality and safety for local consumers.

The exterior design of the Traz X continues the Perodua family styling, with overall lines leaning towards a robust aesthetic. The front features a large trapezoidal grille paired with blacked-out trim, connected to LED headlights on both sides, enhancing the horizontal visual width and improving recognizability. The side profile adopts a dual waistline design, stretching from the front fender to the rear, combined with 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, giving a stronger sense of power compared to competitors in the same class. At the rear, the LED taillight assembly features a through-type design, with the Perodua logo embedded in the center. A silver bumper guard at the bottom reinforces its SUV attributes. For the lighting system, LED headlights, daytime running lights, and rear fog lights come standard across the lineup, providing sufficient illumination for nighttime use.

Inside, the Traz X interior features a dark color scheme with a minimalist center console layout. In terms of materials, the upper dashboard is made of hard plastic, but the door armrests and seats are wrapped in fabric, offering a relatively comfortable touch. The center console is equipped with a 9-inch floating touchscreen that supports Bluetooth connection and USB input. The operation is fairly smooth, though the screen resolution is average. The instrument panel features a 4.2-inch TFT LCD display, showing essential information such as speed, fuel consumption, and range, with clear readability. In terms of configuration, the Traz X comes standard with keyless entry, push-button start, front digital air conditioning, and rear air vents, ensuring convenience for daily use. Safety features are the highlight, with 6 airbags (including knee airbags), vehicle stability control, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and active braking all included as standard, offering a significant advantage in its price range.

For space, the Traz X has a wheelbase of 2620mm, providing ample rear legroom. A passenger of 175cm tall can sit with two-fist-width of space between their knees and the front seats. The rear floor is nearly flat, so the middle passenger’s legroom won't feel cramped. The trunk offers 471 liters of storage capacity, easily accommodating two 28-inch suitcases. The rear seats can fold down in a split configuration, creating a larger storage space ideal for bulky items. Interior storage options are abundant, with a front central armrest console, door storage pockets, and cup holders providing enough space for phones, wallets, and other small items.

In terms of power, the Traz X is equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine delivering a maximum of 106PS and 138N·m of peak torque, paired with a CVT gearbox. During everyday driving, the initial acceleration is smooth, and the low RPM range offers sufficient power for urban road conditions. However, when overtaking, pressing the accelerator deeper is required to push the engine above 4000rpm, at which point peak torque is fully released. At highway speeds exceeding 100km/h, the power reserve for further acceleration feels somewhat lacking. There is only a standard drive mode and no sport mode option, with tuning more inclined towards comfort.

The handling and chassis performance are decent, with a lightweight steering wheel and minimal play, making daily steering relatively precise. The combination of a front MacPherson strut and rear double-wishbone independent suspension is tuned for comfort, filtering out most vibrations when passing over speed bumps or uneven roads, making rear passengers feel minimal jolts. During cornering, there is some body roll, but it remains within a controllable range, and overall stability is good. In terms of braking, the front ventilated disc and rear solid disc brakes perform steadily; the brake pedal travel is moderate, the braking force output is linear, and it inspires enough confidence during emergency braking.

In our specialized tests, we measured the fuel consumption of the Traz X at approximately 6.5L per 100km on mixed road conditions. With a fuel tank capacity of 42L, it offers a full-tank range of roughly 640km. The fuel efficiency aligns with the level of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine. Regarding noise control, tire and engine noise are not significant during city driving. However, wind noise becomes more apparent at highway speeds exceeding 110km/h, though it does not affect normal conversations inside the cabin. Seat comfort is commendable, with fabric seats offering excellent support and cushioning, ensuring long drives don’t lead to fatigue.

Compared to competitors in the same segment, such as the Honda HR-V 1.5L and Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8L, the Traz X is priced lower, features richer safety configurations, and has a higher ground clearance, making it suitable for users who frequently travel on rural or unpaved roads. However, its power performance and interior material quality are slightly inferior to its competitors. Overall, the Traz X is ideal for family-oriented users who prioritize safety, space, and off-road capability, especially those who often travel with family or occasionally drive on rough roads.

In summary, the 2025 Perodua Traz X is a practical B-segment SUV, with its core strengths lying in advanced safety features, spacious interior, and high ground clearance. Although its power and interior quality are not its strongest points, given its price of RM 76,100, it offers excellent value for money. If you're looking for a safe, practical, and family-friendly SUV, the Traz X is worth considering.

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of a 2025 Perodua Traz H, after driving it in Malaysia for nearly three months, I sincerely feel this car is perfect for local road conditions! First, let’s praise its performance, giving it a full 5 stars is absolutely deserved! I live in Selangor, and often take the North-South Expressway and drive on hilly countryside roads. The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT is exceptionally smooth. It feels powerful when overtaking on highways, and it’s not underpowered when climbing hills. The biggest surprise is going over those bumpy rural roads; the suspension does an excellent job, and unlike smaller cars I’ve owned before, it doesn’t shake excessively and makes the ride comfortable. Friends who’ve been passengers also said it feels stable. The exterior is also full marks! The lines of this car’s body are exactly my style. The LED headlights and taillights are highly distinctive when lit up at night. Whenever I park at KLCC, it always catches people’s attention. The red paint has an especially high-quality finish under the sunlight — the more I look at it, the more I love it. For the interior, I would rate it 4 stars. The overall craftsmanship is quite refined, the 9-inch central control screen is responsive, and the air conditioning is sufficiently cold (you know how Malaysia’s summer is). However, the front seats could be a bit softer — driving long distances on the highway can cause a bit of backache. In terms of safety, it’s definitely 4 stars. The six airbags and active braking system are very practical. Once, when I was in Penang and a motorbike suddenly crossed the road, the active braking system managed to stop the car for me, giving me a real fright! However, if it came with a 360-degree camera, it would be perfect, as parking in Kuala Lumpur can really be a challenge due to tight spaces. All in all, being able to buy such a car at this price point, I think it’s absolutely worth it!

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz X
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz X, I've been driving in Malaysia for almost three months, and what I appreciate the most is its safety features! Malaysia often has rainy weather, and I frequently encounter cars suddenly changing lanes on highways. The Traz X's automatic braking and lane departure warning system really saved me once — on the North-South Expressway, the car in front suddenly braked hard, and the system immediately applied the brakes for me, otherwise, I would have surely rear-ended it. Additionally, the 6 airbags and blind-spot assist come standard. When taking my family to the winding roads of Genting Highlands, the vehicle stability control made me feel particularly safe. A full 5 stars without any doubt! As for the exterior, I think it looks quite appealing. The LED headlights and taillights are highly recognizable during traffic jams at night in Kuala Lumpur, and the side profile is more robust compared to older Perodua models. However, the chrome strip on the front grille could be slimmer to appear more youthful. A score of 4 fits perfectly. Regarding the interior, the 9-inch touchscreen is very user-friendly, especially for connecting the phone's navigation when looking for food in Petaling Street. The rear air conditioning is also very practical — with Malaysia's hot weather, friends in the back no longer complain about feeling hot when going to the beach. However, there is a bit too much hard plastic on the dashboard. If there could be some soft-touch materials added, it would be even better. So, the interior also gets a score of 4.

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz X
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz X, having driven it in Malaysia for almost three months, the two aspects I want to talk about the most are safety and performance. First, let's talk about safety. I would give it 4 stars because its features are indeed practical—6 airbags, lane departure warning, and active braking are all standard. Last month, while driving on the coastal road in Penang, the car in front of me suddenly braked, and my Traz X activated the active braking system, helping me avoid a rear-end collision. It was a close call. However, the downside is that the seatbelt reminder is only for the front seats. When I have family members sitting in the rear, sometimes we forget to buckle up. It would be more considerate if they added a rear seat reminder. Now, let's praise the performance; it definitely deserves 5 stars with no complaints! The 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT gearbox is particularly smooth during Kuala Lumpur’s morning rush hour traffic. The throttle response feels very precise without any jerking. On weekends, when I take my family to Genting Highlands, the car performs well uphill. Even with five people on board, it doesn’t feel underpowered. What surprised me the most is the suspension tuning. Malaysia’s rural roads can be quite bumpy, but the Traz X’s double wishbone rear suspension handles the jolts very effectively. None of my passengers, including the elderly and children, complained about discomfort. Overall, as a B-segment family car, the Traz X’s performance in terms of safety and performance completely meets my expectations. Driving it on Malaysian roads is incredibly reassuring!

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of a 2025 Perodua Traz H, having driven in Malaysia for almost three months, the two points I want to talk about the most are performance and safety. Performance gets a 4-star rating for being "adequate but not impressive" — the combination of the 1.5L naturally aspirated engine and CVT is particularly smooth when following traffic in Kuala Lumpur's congestion. Pressing the accelerator doesn't cause any jerkiness, and it cruises steadily on the LDP highway for daily commutes. However, last month when taking the family to Genting, I clearly felt the power was a bit "weak" during uphill climbs, especially in the latter part where I had to press the accelerator harder to maintain speed. This lack of power becomes more noticeable when fully loaded or running the air conditioning. But to be fair, as a family car, its power response is quite sufficient for most urban roads and suburban driving conditions in Malaysia, and the fuel efficiency is well-controlled. Driving in the city averages about 6.5L/100km, which is very reassuring. Safety deserves a full score! One of the main reasons I chose it was because of its fully loaded features — 6 airbags, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking are all standard. Once, on the Federal Highway, the car in front of me suddenly braked, and before I could even react, the Traz H's automatic braking system started beeping and slowed down automatically, nearly avoiding a rear-end collision. I still feel relieved when I recall it. And last week, while driving on a rural road with many potholes, the vehicle stability control intervened promptly and prevented the car from shaking too much. For families like ours, who frequently travel with elderly and children, this kind of "comprehensive protection" is truly reassuring. In summary, while the performance of the Traz H is not overly aggressive, it fully matches the everyday driving scenarios in Malaysia; and its "fully loaded" safety features are definitely the biggest highlights that give me peace of mind!

Owner of 2025 Perodua Traz H
As the owner of the 2025 Perodua Traz H, after driving it for almost three months, I sincerely feel that the interior deserves a full 5-star rating! The soft-touch material on the center console feels very comfortable, and the 9-inch central screen is very responsive. When stuck in KL traffic, even with CarPlay playing music and navigation, it runs super smoothly. The rear air-conditioning vents are an absolute blessing in our tropical climate. Last week, I took my family to Genting, and my parents in the rear seats said it didn’t feel stuffy — this detail is truly considerate. For safety, I’d give it a 4-star rating; overall, I’m satisfied. The 6 airbags and lane departure warning are all standard. Last time on the North-South Expressway, I was almost side-swiped by a car changing lanes, but the autonomous emergency braking kicked in and helped stop the car in time. It gave me quite a scare but definitely saved the day. However, the only drawback is that the seatbelt reminder is only for the front seats—if the rear seats had it too, it would be perfect. After all, sometimes when I’m giving friends a ride, they forget to buckle up in the back seats, and there’s no reminder. For the exterior, I’d give it 4 stars—it’s the type that grows on you. The LED headlights are highly recognizable even during the day, especially when driving on rural roads at night—its illumination performance is much better than my previous car. The body lines are also very sleek. When I parked at a Lotus supermarket, a nearby uncle even asked if this was Perodua’s new model, saying it looks younger than the Aruz. However, the tail design could be sharper—right now, it feels a bit too conventional. Overall, getting these features at this price point is more than enough for daily driving in Malaysia!
