BYD Seal 6 2025 Review

In Malaysia's C-segment electric vehicle market, users are increasingly focusing on value for money and basic configurations. Many consumers hope to buy a fully electric sedan with sufficient range and comprehensive safety configurations within a budget of around RM100,000. The 2025 BYD Seal 6 Dynamic is designed to meet this demand. It not only continues the design language of the Seal series but also offers "full standard configurations" in the safety and intelligent features, which are rare in its class. In this test drive, we focused on verifying its actual range performance, daily driving comfort, and whether its configurations truly meet the core needs of family users.
Approaching the Seal 6 Dynamic, the first thing that stands out is its coupe-like stance. The body measures 4720mm in length, 1860mm in width, and 1495mm in height, paired with a fastback roofline for a low-slung overall visual impression. The front end features a closed-off grille design, with sharp LED headlights on both sides. The daytime running lights are connected to the chrome trim on the edge of the grille, enhancing the horizontal visual width. The rear end's highlight is the LED light bar, which stands out at night with high recognizability. The diffuser design below adds a hint of sportiness without being overly assertive. The side profile of the car features a waistline extending from the front to the rear, complemented by 17-inch wheels for a simple and clean appearance.
Opening the door, the interior features a dark color scheme, with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and a leather-wrapped steering wheel that provide a satisfactory tactile feel. The most noticeable feature on the center console is the 12.8-inch adaptive rotating pad, which supports horizontal and vertical screen switching and operates smoothly. To the left is a fully digital instrument cluster that clearly displays information such as range, speed, and driving assistance. As for the seats, the driver’s seat supports six-way electric adjustment, while the passenger seat offers four-way manual adjustment. Seat cushioning is on the softer side, ensuring daily comfort. Rear space performance meets C-segment standards; with a 2820mm wheelbase, a 175cm passenger sitting in the back still has about two fists of legroom. However, due to the fastback design, headroom can feel slightly restricted, but it does not affect general comfort. The rear row also includes air conditioning vents and USB ports, making it practical enough. In terms of storage space, the front row offers two cup holders, a central armrest box, and door panel storage compartments. The trunk provides sufficient standard capacity, and the rear seats support a 60/40 split-fold, allowing for the transport of larger items.
When driving, the Seal 6 Dynamic’s power output leans towards smoothness. It is equipped with a front permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a maximum horsepower of 129PS and a peak torque of 220N·m. The start doesn’t give an abrupt push-back feeling, but the acceleration response is linear and adequate for city driving or overtaking. The official 0-100km/h acceleration time is 10.9 seconds, which is not particularly fast but is more than sufficient for daily commuting. There are three driving modes to choose from: Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Eco mode, power output is slightly restrained, making it more suitable for long-distance cruising, while in Sport mode, throttle response is more sensitive, yet it still prioritizes smoothness overall.
In terms of suspension, the combination of a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension is tuned for comfort. When crossing speed bumps or uneven roads, the suspension filters out most minor bumps, ensuring the body doesn’t bounce significantly. During high-speed cornering, body roll is kept within a reasonable range, avoiding any sense of instability, with overall stability being commendable. The steering feel is relatively light, making low-speed maneuvers effortless, while it becomes slightly heavier at high speeds with reasonably precise steering input.
Range and energy consumption are the key concerns for EV users. In our mixed-road condition test: about 40% of the route was in urban congested areas, and about 60% on highways, with the air conditioning and audio system on throughout the journey. The actual range reached approximately 410km, with an achievement rate of nearly 85%, which met expectations. In terms of energy consumption, it was around 12kWh/100km in urban areas and about 15kWh/100km on highways, which is overall at the average level for this class. Regarding charging speed, using DC fast charging from 30% to 80% took about 40 minutes, while home charging with an AC slow charger required 6-7 hours, meeting daily charging needs.
In terms of driving and riding comfort, the Seal 6 Dynamic performed impressively. Tire noise and wind noise were well-controlled within 100km/h on highways, not affecting conversations inside the vehicle; the noise from the motor operation is almost negligible. The energy recovery system offers three adjustable levels: in the lowest mode, the deceleration when releasing the accelerator is minimal, resembling the coasting experience of fuel cars, making it easy to adapt to; in the highest mode, the deceleration is significant, reducing the frequency of brake usage. The seats provide good support and cushioning, ensuring comfort even during long drives.
In conclusion, the 2025 BYD Seal 6 Dynamic's key advantages are clear: first, it excels in safety features, with full-standard 10 airbags, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and more, which are rarely seen in vehicles in its class; second, it offers comprehensive practical features, such as a panoramic sunroof, automatic air conditioning, and rain-sensing wipers, all as standard, with no significant "scaled-down" components; third, its range performance is solid, with the official range of 485km achieving around 85% in real use, which is enough for a week's commute. Compared with other similarly priced electric vehicles in its class, the Seal 6 Dynamic stands out in safety features, offering excellent value for money.
This car is clearly suited for specific groups: families who prioritize safety and practicality or office workers with a budget of around RM 100,000 who need a reliable commuting vehicle. It does not overly focus on performance but achieves a balance in comfort, safety, and range. If you're looking for a fully equipped, reliable, and easy-to-drive electric sedan with steady range, the Seal 6 Dynamic deserves to be on your shortlist.
