In recent years, competition in Malaysia's C-Segment SUV market has become increasingly fierce. Consumers not only value practicality in terms of space but also have higher demands for intelligent features and performance. The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, as a new contender in this segment, has attracted significant attention with its core features, including a 1.5T turbocharged engine delivering 197PS, a 24.6-inch curved dual-screen setup, and a 7-year or 150,000-kilometer extended warranty. This test drive will comprehensively evaluate whether this car meets the core needs of local family users, from its static design and dynamic performance to daily practicality.

From the exterior, the 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro adopts a young and dynamic style. The front features a large blacked-out grille flanked by sharp LED headlamps, offering a high degree of visual recognition. The side of the body has smooth lines, with a waistline extending from the hood to the rear, enhancing its three-dimensional feel. The 18-inch multi-spoke wheels are simple in design and proportional to the overall body. At the rear, the through-type LED taillights create a striking effect when illuminated, while the silver skid plate beneath the rear bumper adds a touch of rugged SUV character. As for the lighting system, the full LED headlamps support automatic activation and daytime running light functions, providing sufficient illumination at night.

Inside the vehicle, the design of the dashboard is driver-centric, with the 24.6-inch curved dual-screen setup being the visual highlight. The left side features a fully digital instrument cluster, while the right side functions as a touch screen for the infotainment system, offering smooth operation. Regarding interior materials, the top of the dashboard is covered in soft-touch materials, complemented by silver trim on the lower part, resulting in a texture that aligns with its price positioning. In terms of features, the front seats support 6-way electric adjustment and ventilation, while the passenger seat also offers 4-way electric adjustment and ventilation, providing decent comfort for daily use. The rear seats can be folded down in a 60:40 split, expanding the trunk's capacity from 475 liters to accommodate family travel luggage needs with ease. When it comes to space, the 2670mm wheelbase ensures ample rear legroom, with a passenger of 175cm still enjoying two fists' worth of knee space, along with sufficient headroom. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control and rear air conditioning vents, allowing both front and rear passengers to quickly adjust to a comfortable temperature.

In terms of performance, the 1.5T turbocharged engine delivers a maximum power of 145kW (197PS) and maximum torque of 290N·m, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. During actual driving, the power response is lively during start-up, providing decent acceleration just by pressing the pedal lightly. Mid-to-high range acceleration is also strong, and the gearbox downshifts quickly when the accelerator is fully pressed, with the official 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.3 seconds being above average in its class. The driving modes include Eco, Standard, and Sport. In Sport mode, throttle sensitivity is further enhanced, making it suitable for scenarios requiring quick acceleration. For daily driving, switching to Eco mode results in more fuel-efficient performance. Under actual testing, fuel consumption in urban conditions is approximately 8.2L/100km, decreasing to around 6.5L/100km on highways, which aligns with the official combined fuel consumption estimate of 7L/100km.

In terms of handling, the combination of the front MacPherson independent suspension and the rear multi-link independent suspension effectively filters out minor vibrations when dealing with Malaysia's typical bumpy roads. Larger potholes also do not result in overly harsh feedback. The steering wheel has moderate steering resistance and precise directional accuracy. Body roll is well-controlled during cornering, providing a smooth overall driving experience. The braking system performs reliably, with the combination of front ventilated discs and rear disc brakes ensuring stable car posture during emergency braking, meeting expectations for braking distance. Additionally, the vehicle's noise control is impressive; wind and tire noise at high speeds remain within an acceptable range, not interfering with normal conversations among passengers inside the vehicle.

In terms of safety features, the 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro comes standard with 7 airbags, including knee airbags and front and rear curtain airbags. Active safety systems include lane change assist, lane departure warning, active braking, and ACC adaptive cruise control. A 360-degree panoramic camera and front and rear parking sensors also make parking much easier. These features are relatively comprehensive for its class, offering users a great sense of security.

Overall, the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro's core strengths lie in its balanced performance, rich intelligent features, and extended warranty policy. Compared to similarly priced models like the Honda HR-V or Proton X70, it has more competitive power specifications and safety features. Configurations such as the 24.6-inch curved screen and front ventilated seats also enhance daily usage comfort. This car is suitable for users who prioritize family practicality and seek a balance between features and performance, especially those who plan for long-term use and value warranty services.

In summary, the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a C-segment SUV that meets the needs of most family users. Whether for daily commuting or weekend family outings, it delivers stable and reliable performance. If you are looking for an SUV with rich features, adequate performance, and good value for money, this model is worth considering.

Last week, I took my wife and kids to the orchard at the foot of Yun Ding Mountain. As soon as we started climbing the winding road, we encountered a heavy rainstorm. The 24.6-inch curved screen navigation worked perfectly, Sony audio played children's songs to ease the tension, and the ventilated seats prevented back sweat. During sharp turns, the vehicle stability control intervened in time. The 7 airbags and 360° cameras gave me the confidence to move forward slowly. However, the interior has a slightly plastic feel, the safety features are solid, but the automatic braking system is occasionally overly sensitive. The 1.5T engine is not sluggish on uphill drives, fuel consumption of over 7 liters is acceptable, and the 7-year warranty is reassuring.

As the owner of the 2024 Tiggo 7 Pro in Malaysia for three months, my most direct impression is "value for money to the max." Previously, I owned an older Japanese SUV, which had a slow acceleration like a crawling snail. After switching to this 1.5T+7DCT, the throttle response during the Jalan Ampang morning rush hour is very quick, overtaking and changing lanes is smooth, and its 8.3-second to 100 km/h acceleration feels steady when overtaking trucks on the highway. On weekends, taking the family to Genting Highlands, climbing hills feels powerful without the sense of "all heart but no strength." The safety features are truly top-notch, with 7 airbags and L2-level assisted driving. Last time on the North-South Expressway, I almost rear-ended another car, but the automatic emergency braking intervened just in time, giving me quite a scare. However, there are minor issues; the infotainment system occasionally lags, especially when both navigation and music are in use simultaneously. But overall, being able to get such features for just over 120,000 MYR, what more could you ask for? It's so much better than Japanese or Korean cars in the same price range!

Family, who understands this! After driving the Tiggo 7 Pro for three months, the start-stop is super smooth in traffic jams, and it surges forward with just a tap on the accelerator during overtaking. Its 8.3-second acceleration is amazing! The 7 airbags + active braking provide great peace of mind, though missing 1 point on safety is a slight pity~ The Sony sound system is powerful, the back seat comfortably fits three people without feeling cramped, and the 475L trunk is just perfect for packing camping gear!

Previously, I drove an old Japanese SUV, which had such weak power it felt like a "turtle crawling." Switching to the Tiggo 7 Pro feels like stepping into a whole new world! During the morning rush hour on Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur, the 1.5T+7DCT combination was so smooth when following traffic; a light tap on the gas pedal and it easily slots into gaps, so much more enjoyable than my previous "zen car." Over the weekend, I took the family to Genting; the 290N·m torque made climbing slopes a breeze, and overtaking was effortless. The interior 24.6-inch curved screen is packed with a sense of technology, and the Sony sound system makes listening to Malay songs super enjoyable, though the screen glare can occasionally be slightly annoying. Safety features include 7 airbags + ACC, making highway driving worry-free. The only minor gripe: the rear air conditioning is a bit weak. However, with all these features for just over RM120k, it’s a much better deal than the CR-V or CX-5, and the 7-year warranty is reassuring. Totally worth it!
