This segment of vehicles needs to balance practicality, spaciousness, and smart configurations, while maintaining affordability. The DFSK Box E series (E2 and E3 configurations), which will be launched in November 2024, aims at this niche market, with its compact body size, official range of 330-430 km, and high cost-performance configurations as its core selling points. This review will focus on the differences in the actual performance of the two models, from static design to dynamic driving, to verify whether they can meet the daily needs of local users.

First, regarding exterior design, the Box E2 and E3 adopt the same design language, leaning towards a simple, family-oriented style. The front features through-type LED daytime running lights, with the DFSK brand logo embedded in the middle, connecting to split LED headlights on both sides for high recognition. The lower bumper uses a trapezoidal air intake grille design, paired with a silver front lip decoration, adding a touch of sportiness. The body side features smooth lines, and the 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels (tire size 215/55 R17) appear well-proportioned with the body. Last Saturday, I drove my family to the orchard at the foot of Genting Mountain. Just after passing the toll station, we encountered a heavy downpour. The wipers were moving frantically, and the road surface felt like it was coated in oil. With the ACC on for following other cars, the car remained very stable without the slightest feeling of skidding. However, the kids in the back were fussing and wanted to watch cartoons. Once the 12.8-inch screen was turned on, they instantly quieted down. But when driving through that bumpy mountain road section, the rear suspension still felt a bit stiff, causing all the apples to roll onto the floor. The exterior design is truly flawless; the white body was dazzlingly shiny in the rain. When parked at the orchard entrance, several farmers gathered around to take a look and asked how much this little car cost. In terms of safety, the dual airbags and hill-start assist were a great help on the slopes, though having only two airbags feels a bit less secure—adding two more would offer greater peace of mind. Performance-wise, it's sufficient for city driving, and even on the highway at 120 km/h, it doesn't feel unstable, but you do need to plan ahead when overtaking. Overall, after half a year of usage, it hasn’t let us down—it’s a great value for the price.

After half a month of driving the Box E2, commuting has been super convenient! Overtaking during morning rush hours is smooth, and the back seat comfortably fits three colleagues without feeling cramped. A quick charge of half an hour is enough for a week's drive, and the automatic parking is incredibly user-friendly for someone clumsy like me. However, I have to complain about the fact that it only has two airbags.

As a 2024 DFSK Box E2 owner, after three months of driving in Malaysia, I truly feel I made the right choice! I had hesitated over a Japanese gasoline car before, but after comparing, I found this EV much more suitable for everyday life in Kuala Lumpur—spending an hour in a morning traffic jam, the electricity cost is only just over RM2, saving so much compared to a gas car. The exterior is round and cute, and parking in a narrow spot on Petaling Street is no pressure at all; the 12.8-inch central control screen is great for navigation, and automatic parking has helped me several times in those tricky parking slots at Jalan Alor. However, the rear seats cannot be folded separately, so it gets a bit crowded when taking family to Genting with luggage on weekends. In terms of performance, it's quick to start in the city, but after 110km/h on the highway, the acceleration feels weak. Overall, spending just over RM100k to get a pure EV with a range of 330km—what more could you ask for?

Rush hour squeeze on the bus? Not a problem! My Box E3 charges fully in half an hour, enough for a week of commuting without worries. 360-degree imaging + automatic parking, easily fits into narrow parking spots, fully equipped with safety features, driving is reassuring. It's just that the rear seats can't fold separately, which is a slight disappointment when occasionally carrying large items~
