In recent years, the high-performance sports car market has remained active, with consumers increasingly demanding models that combine extreme performance with everyday practicality. In the 3.9L displacement coupe sports car segment, Ferrari's models have always been a benchmark. As the successor to the 488 GTB, the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo 3.9L's core selling point lies in its 3.9T V8 twin-turbo engine, which has won the "Best Engine of the Year" award, along with comprehensive optimizations in aerodynamic design, attracting the attention of many sports car enthusiasts. This test drive aims to thoroughly analyze whether this model can continue Ferrari's racing DNA while meeting basic daily driving needs through static experience and dynamic testing.

The exterior design of the F8 Tributo continues Ferrari's family-oriented sporty style, with smooth overall lines and a highly aggressive appearance. The front features sharp LED headlights on both sides with a smoked black interior, complemented by a three-section air intake grille below, further enhancing the visual width and sporty vibe of the front. On the sides, the waistline runs from the front fender to the rear, paired with 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, shaping a low-slung and powerful stance. The rear design is a highlight, featuring the classic four-round taillight layout. The dual exhaust system with quad tailpipes below echoes the diffuser design, not only improving aerodynamic performance but also intensifying the overall sporty atmosphere. As for the lighting system, the front headlights come with adaptive high-beam and low-beam functions, which automatically switch lighting modes when driving at night, enhancing driving safety.

Inside, the overall interior design tends to be race-oriented but also incorporates a certain level of luxury. The center console uses a large amount of Alcantara material and carbon fiber trim, offering a refined touch and standout texture. Combined with yellow stitching, it creates a strong sporty atmosphere. The center screen measures 7 inches and is equipped with Ferrari's exclusive infotainment system, supporting Bluetooth connectivity and CarPlay functionality, with a decent level of operational smoothness. The seats feature a sporty bucket design with strong wraparound support, and they offer electric adjustments and lumbar support functions, enabling a snug fit for the body and providing ample support during spirited driving. Additionally, the interior is equipped with one-touch start, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and other configurations, further enhancing driving convenience.

In terms of dimensions, the length, width, and height of the F8 Tributo are 4611mm/1979mm/1206mm, with a wheelbase of 2650mm. As a two-door two-seater sports car, these dimensions ensure compact body proportions. Regarding passenger space, the front row provides decent space, and a 175cm-tall individual sitting in the driver's seat has enough headroom and legroom without feeling cramped. As for storage capacity, the front trunk has a volume of 200L, which can accommodate a carry-on suitcase or some personal items, meeting the needs for short trips. Storage inside the car is relatively minimal, with only small storage compartments under the center console and on the door panels, mainly for placing phones, wallets, and other small items.

In terms of powertrain, the F8 Tributo is equipped with a 3.9L V8 twin-turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 730PS and peak torque of 770N·m, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is just 2.9 seconds, showcasing an extremely powerful performance. During actual driving, in Sport mode, the power response at startup is very quick, the throttle feedback is exceptionally sensitive, and deep pressing the accelerator instantly delivers a strong push-back feeling, providing an intense acceleration experience. In Normal mode, power output is relatively smooth, making it suitable for daily urban driving. The transmission shifts gears extremely fast with almost no sense of lag; both upshifts and downshifts are very seamless.

In terms of handling, the steering wheel provides high precision with minimal play and offers clear feedback on road surface information, allowing the driver to have precise control over the vehicle's trajectory. The suspension system features a double-wishbone independent front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension, tuned towards sportiness. During high-speed cornering, body roll is well controlled, and the suspension offers sufficient support, keeping the vehicle stable. On bumpy roads, the suspension filters out most minor vibrations, but more significant bumps are still fairly noticeable inside the cabin, which is a characteristic tuning for sports cars.

As for fuel consumption, during urban driving, the fuel consumption is around 15-16L/100km, while on highways, it drops to about 10-11L/100km. The combined fuel consumption is largely consistent with the official figure of 12.9L/100km. For a high-powered sports car, such fuel efficiency is already quite commendable. Regarding braking performance, the car comes equipped with a carbon-ceramic braking system, which delivers quick braking responses and ample braking force, providing the driver with ample confidence during emergency braking situations.

In terms of driving comfort, the noise insulation within the car is average. At high speeds, wind noise and tire noise are quite noticeable, which relates to the car's sporty design. The seat comfort decreases slightly during long drives as the strong bolstering may cause some fatigue. However, the lumbar support feature in the seat helps alleviate some discomfort, making the overall experience fairly acceptable.

In summary, the core advantages of the 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo 3.9L lie in its extreme performance and outstanding handling. At the same time, its exterior and interior designs continue the athletic DNA of the Ferrari family. Compared to its competitor, the Lamborghini Huracán Evo, the F8 Tributo has an edge in power parameters, and its gear-shifting smoothness is superior, offering slightly better convenience for daily driving. However, in terms of brand image and visual impact, the Huracán Evo may be more appealing.

This model is suitable for consumers who pursue extreme performance and driving pleasure, especially for those who enjoy track driving or occasional long-distance travel. The F8 Tributo can well meet their needs. Furthermore, its relatively balanced practicality makes it not overly inconvenient for daily use. Overall, the F8 Tributo is a sports car that perfectly combines track performance with day-to-day usability and is one of the most representative models in the Ferrari family.

Previously, I was driving a 911 Carrera S, and switching to the F8 Tributo was purely because its exhaust note captivated my soul — the roar of the 3.9T twin-turbo reverberating under the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur is far more "Ferrari-like arrogance" compared to the deep growl of the 911. During morning rush hour crawling along Jalan Bukit Bintang, there’s no chance to unleash its 730 horsepower, but the smoothness of paddle shifting and the grip of the Alcantara suede steering wheel turn even traffic jams into an enjoyable experience. Its true playground is the weekend runs along the Genting Highlands' winding roads, where its cornering precision feels like it's glued to the ground, and the 2.9-second 0-100 acceleration pins you to the seat, way more aggressive than the 911. But I have to gripe about this: In Malaysia’s heavy rain, the front trunk sealing is somewhat disappointing — there was a bit of water seepage after one rain. And its 12.9L fuel consumption means frequent stops at fuel stations on long road trips to Johor Bahru, given how small the fuel tank is for a supercar. However, the interior is truly top-notch; the carbon fiber trims and the snug embrace of the racing seats make you feel like you're headed for a racetrack every time you sit inside. The safety features are comprehensive, and the 7-year warranty is reassuring in Malaysia's hot and humid climate. All in all, it's not a "practical car," but it’s definitely a "toy that makes you want to grab the keys the moment you wake up" — in Malaysia's sunshine and mountain roads, every roar from the F8 Tributo is worth every penny.

Stuck near the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur during rush hour, the roar of the 3.9T V8 is smothered into a muffled hum by the traffic—this performance is just for show at a snail's pace, while the fuel consumption climbs above 15L. Driving on mountain roads during heavy rain is even worse, with carbon fiber seats as slippery as an ice rink, and the center console screen reflecting light to the point that navigation is unreadable. But honestly, every time at a red light with the turning heads of passersby, and that 0.1-second thrust when overtaking, make me momentarily forget all these annoyances.

Last week's rainstorm drove the F8 up the mountain. The 3.9T 730 horsepower felt very stable on slippery curves, and the 2.9-second acceleration was super enjoyable for overtaking. However, the fuel consumption of 12.9L/100km is a bit high in urban areas. The red and black leather interior feels very premium, and the seat wrapping is good, but there's little storage space, leaving no place to put a phone. Overall, both performance and interior deserve a 4-star rating. It's suitable for weekend drives, but a bit tiring for daily commutes.

This seat is as hard as an iron plate! After half an hour, my back starts to protest. It looks really cool, but suffering is also very real…

Never lack confidence when shifting to S gear to overtake during the morning rush hour. Step on the power of the 3.9T engine, and the thrust directly pins you to the seat. However, parking outdoors in summer, the leather seats get so hot they could fry an egg—but just one glance at the shine of this red paint under the sunlight, totally worth it!
